72- wasn’t it former? I thought it went to mepal and then maybe ames… Now I thought Queen Bee has the title… Is there something I should know about?
MG- Welcome back!!
Everyone is so sweet, good thing you don’t know me IRL, you might be saying something else 🙂
kapustaParticipantDid you at least make some money on the deal? It sounds like a very original and unique form of parnassa.
kapustaParticipantNot what I was trying to do, but thank you so much binah, I appreciate it. And if nothing else, it got you to post! 🙂
Thank you so much, everyone. As I said to binah, I appreciate every post on this thread. FTR, I’m a former queen of the CR and that title is perfect. And the kapusta I had over Yom Tov was great.
syag, sorry to make you post on a non-posting day, but know that I appreciate it. I like the sig btw, I say you should keep it.
Thanks again, everyone. Everyone.
kapustaParticipantkapustaParticipantkapustaParticipantIt sounds like she just wants a friend. Do you read at all? Cook? Maybe you can bring the “guys, movies, music” to kosher reading, recipes etc. If she is so emotionally dependent on her boy”friend”, its probably because she feels important and that someone cares.
Maybe you can give a friendly reminder to whoever was looking into it.
Did you see the 3rd point in my earlier post?
One more thing, its never too late.

(Please with a cherry on top?)
kapustaParticipantI think aish has a section on intermarriage and maybe even a downloadable book available. Maybe thats something to look into?
Hatzlacha!
kapustaParticipantyit, I sort of was getting at the same idea, but you said it a lot better.
kapustaParticipantAnyone know where I can get a listing of all January births? Wait, I have your subtitle to go by, why would I bother with January?!
October 25, 2011 1:46 am at 1:46 am in reply to: Att: Everybody who "knows" amyisraelchai here #829068kapustaParticipantkapustaParticipantOr maybe you meant that your birthday is the beginning of your next year which could make it in January, June, or next September.
Hmmm…
kapustaParticipantDisclaimer: I’m not a kiruv professional.
Rabbi Wallerstein has a fantastic shiur where he discusses bf issues. http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/tznius-recommendation-for-women
Its more than a tznius thing, its about men and women in general. If you have time for it, then I highly recommend it. (And I saw it a few months ago, I don’t remember everything he said)
As for the part about not believing, its my opinion that for someone who takes that attitude, its not that they don’t believe but that they don’t want to believe. If she sees restriction, she won’t like it. Show her that its fun, too. Aish came out with a video for Rosh Hashana done to the tune of a very catchy song. Show her ya’alili. Theres a bit of time until Chanuka, but maybe theres a Chanuka party she can go to. Are you in Brooklyn? Maybe you can go to Ohr Naava (or a similar type of place) with her for something more fun. (The schedule is on their website, but I think they have kickboxing, dancing etc). Don’t try to be mekarev her, just show her how happy you are.
1. Sorry, I know the things I suggested involve a big commitment of time.
2. Are you in contact with her parents, teacher etc? Maybe you can tell them to talk to her without going into detail (and not to mention that you were involved)?
3. Can I contact you through the mods to find out a little about the organization?
Hatzlacha!

kapustaParticipantNo, sorry. If you start a thread about it, maybe someone else can help.
kapustaParticipantAYC:
I’m not taking sides here, but if I can, I would like to defend 42 for a minute. I think 42 was simply trying to be a good moderator, and keep people aware. Sort of like the “terms and conditions” you need to approve before signing up for something. Forewarned is forearmed. Several people have been falsely accused and I don’t believe its because anyone intended to hurt anyone c’v, but to keep the place running smoothly and efficiently and do his job. As a member of the CR, I also hope you can be mochel.
kapustaParticipantThat was just a general happy birthday. Nice that it was sort of good timing…
Your IQ must be off the charts if you’re already on a computer and typing at almost 11 months. Wow.
kapustaParticipantB”H, as posted on YWN news.

kapustaParticipantI wouldn’t know Gefen if I fell over her in the street.
On behalf of the CR, I ask you to please be careful when you walk not fall over her or bump into her or anything like that or anyone else for that matter.
And gefen, same for you, please be careful not to bump into anyone when walking in the street, in your house, or on the moon.
?
TIA
October 24, 2011 1:30 am at 1:30 am in reply to: Att: Everybody who "knows" amyisraelchai here #829049kapustaParticipantI’m not a rabbi, but I would think its not a problem for a few reasons. 1: they didn’t say anything 2: you didn’t record it professionally 3: you’re not making money off it 4: you didn’t record the whole concert or even whole songs (?)- (even if you would post it on yt)
I repeat that I’m not a rabbi, so don’t go based on what I said.
I liked the song, but didn’t go crazy over it. I’ll admit I started getting into it after listening a few times. (And then it was stuck in my head which I guess means that its a catchy tune.)
kapustaParticipant“If you ever have a bad cough, take a laxative, you’ll be afraid to cough.”
kapustaParticipantHey! I’m the one who needed a call,
What are you doing waiting for the phone to ring? I’m at your front door with a kapusta delivery. Hurry, its hot!
October 24, 2011 12:56 am at 12:56 am in reply to: Att: Everybody who "knows" amyisraelchai here #829045kapustaParticipantI’m not so clear on the specifics but if this is the “compliment AYC” thread, I want to nominate him (?) for official something-nice-which-I-haven’t-figured-out-yet. Maybe “nicest poster” award.
If anyone has anything to suggest, go ahead.
October 23, 2011 7:04 am at 7:04 am in reply to: The Judgement I passed on the CR, at first #1030083kapustaParticipantSo maybe this is a question for a Rav. For right now, I don’t see the benefit to “make a chozek” of one specific person who lost his way. If your good friend (one who doesn’t exist) had a child who made the same decision, would you feel the same way?
kapustaParticipantIsn’t someone who abandons Torah and frumkeit a rasha who we should make chozek of?
IMO, one should daven for someone in that position. Making bad choices doesn’t automatically mean the person is bad, just mixed up.
Perhaps we can learn from him how not to go off the derech and how to keep people we know on it.
I think thats a great idea for a thread. (wanna start it?) Maybe its just me, but I don’t like the idea of pointing to one specific person to do that.
kapustaParticipantI hate to be rude, but what exactly is being accomplished by discussing this? Can’t we stick to constructive/happy stuff?

yashrus20- were you on the cr 2 years ago. i seem to remember such a name.
Amazingly, your profile seems to be completely empty. Any explanations?
kapustaParticipantGadolseeker, if you change some of the details, I could have written that.
kapustaParticipantI don’t think theres a right or wrong answer to this question. Every family needs to make their own decision.
October 11, 2011 8:38 pm at 8:38 pm in reply to: easy dessert recipes for simchas beis hashoava? #816824kapustaParticipantI think you can use the general method instead of a specific recipe but if you want I could try to look for one later.
Approximate:
Two parts flour (sifted for bugs)
One part sugar
oil (slowly, it should form crumbs)
cinnamon
apples (or other fruit)
optional: cook first with some (a little) oil and sugar to soften before baking.
Do a layer of crumbs on the bottom*, a layer of apples, a layer of crumbs and top off with some cinnamon for extra color.
*keep the bottom layer thin otherwise it won’t bake evenly and it’ll be hard to cut.
Let me know if you want a real recipe.
Enjoy!
