The US has no problem with people having 2 passports but they ask you to use your US passport when leaving/arriving the US. The other country might have a similar requirement, so if you go from the US to the other country and back, you have to travel with both passports and show each country it’s passport.

For bpt and adorable: You do realize there are jews in other parts of new york (really?). Not only that, some live in a different state of the US (are you kidding me?). And actually, some even live in a different country (country? is that like the catskills area?)

I have never heard of such a thing and seriously doubt this is the halacha. Check your sources.

I went through this pain. By far the toughest thing I had gone through in my life. After seven years, B”H we were blessed with a healthy boy. While visiting a gadol in EY asking for a bracha, he said something like this:

3) Try to be happy as much as you can
There is no doubt that going through that period of time made me a better person and a better jew.
