    FrumWhere and Philosopher,

Re: the actor, I will re-use a comment made by Syag,

And there you have exhibit number 1 of someone commenting without having the facts. Which I guess is what his case was founded on so maybe it isn’t a problem…

    Syag,

    There are 2 points.

When someone is given a gun and a badge and swears to uphold law and order they better be ready to act in a professional manner 24/7. Most police do this.

    1) Don’t we want the police to be more careful in the future before they pull the trigger to be 100% positive that they are holding a taser and not a gun? Didn’t we always want that ?

I was listening yesterday to a talk show host Jeff Ferguson (for 5 minutes before I couldn’t take his lying and stupidity) and he incredibly felt that 3 to 6 months in jail was enough punishment for a policeman accidentally killing an innocent person.

    2) Can police do whatever they want without any repercussions by threatening to not work effectively? Can police act improperly but get away with it by other police covering up for them?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then BLM are 100% correct. Police can assassinate innocent civilians without fear of justice. That is a major problem with police in America.

I am all for the police doing their jobs but they must be held accountable when they mess up.

    Thanks for pointing this out.
This is what BLM has been saying.

The police follow their own set of rules and when they don’t like things, they just stop working.
    The blue wall of silence.

What should the punishment be for a police officer with decades of experience that accidentally kills a citizen?

A coup and insurrection do not need weapons. Although they help.

A coup can be done by lawyers, boot-licking senators, representatives and executive branch administrative staff.

One of the documents that the commission has in hand is a 38 page powerpoint document titled “Election Fraud, Foreign Interference & Options for 6 Jan” where all the options that they were planning to possibly use to overthrow the POTUS Joe Biden.

The document was received from Mark Meadows , Trumps COS.

” The DOJ would have indicted Trump. ” When do you want them to indict him ? Before they have all the facts?

    Syag,
(Re – Jackk – fair point but I think that’s a different question.
The question was about politicians inciting violence with rhetoric. It’s a question on the ill response of individuals to the words of the politicians.)

My point is that what his supporters who are in jail are saying is that is what they understood he was telling them. That is not political rhetoric that is a call to violence.

    Haleivi,

(Re: Right after the elections, many people spoke about the oddities. The media create a narrative of how dangerous that talk is, how absurd it is and a big lie. )

First of all there were no oddities after the election.

    None.

The bizarre conspiracy theories were all made up out of thin air by the master conman. In the year since the election, not one actionable fraud has been presented.
All the claims were DIRECTLY countered and DENIED. The billion dollar lawsuits by Dominion (which they are going to win) and the punishment of Trump’s lawyer’s has proven that.

    UJM,

(Re – No one knew there would be trespassing. The official plan was to head to the Capital for a legal protest outside on public grounds.)

That is what most people thought the plan was. There were a few core supporters who knew that the plan was to attack the Capital and they were prepared with everything needed.
There is documentation on this aspect also.
Four alleged leaders of the Proud Boys have been indicted in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol over allegedly conspiring, including in discussions on encrypted messaging apps, to obstruct the certification of President Biden’s Electoral College victory. Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zach Rehl and Charles Donohoe

    ABBA_S,

If there is a civil war, it is from the side that tried to overthrow the Biden government.

You should be listening to the documentation from the Jan6 commission , you will learn a lot.

There is a power point presentation which was distributed on how to overthrow the duly elected President of the US .
That is why it is called a coup.

The differences between what Trump supporters did on January 6th and what a Sander’s supporter did is obvious.

One of them is, the words of some of the Trump supporters, as they get thrown into jail, saying that they believed that they were following their President’s wishes to storm the capitol. The guy who shot Scalise was a domestic terrorist who was not following Sander’s wishes.
The Scalise attack is similar to the Gabby Giffords attack in 2011.

Sander’s has been consistent in his views for the past 50 years and he believes in Health coverage for all American’s. A very laudable concept.

Here is a tweet from President Biden today vs an interview with Trump last year.
B”H , we have a President of the US.

    Biden:
The federal government will do everything it can to help those impacted by this weekend’s storms.

    Trump:
During a Fox News town-hall event in the White House Rose Garden, Trump ramped up his attacks on the governor, who has been a vocal critic of the federal government’s sluggish response to the outbreak. In doing so, Trump said the quiet part out loud about how he views his relationship with states. “It’s a two-way street,” he said. “They have to treat us well, also. They can’t say, ‘Oh, gee, we should get this, we should get that.’”

A lot of news recently from the commission about texts being sent to the former WH COS from fox news hosts and Jr, and also a PowerPoint on how to commit a Coup. Further, the WH COS sent a memo ordering the national guard to protect the Trump supporters and not to do their jobs of protecting the laws of the US.

Obviously not important enough to get a descriptive title and a news articles on YWN.

It is clear that Trump attempted a coup that failed. That is his legacy .

    I disagree.

If republican’s will make laws that completely ban all abortions without any exceptions starting from one week , there will be a rebellion within the republican party. There are millions of republican’s that want abortion to be allowed early in the pregnancy and also that there be exceptions for social reasons.

Even many religious republicans who want stricter restrictions on abortion are not in favor of a complete ban on it .

I guess time will tell. If SCOTUS overturns Roe V Wade do the republican states start banning all abortions without exception or not.

    Avira DeArah,

You are looking at this debate as a halachik issue and there should be no exceptions to murder. – except where halacha allows.
However , in America, this is not a halachik debate.
Even the Mississipi law allows abortions before 15 weeks. Why? Can you commit murder on a human being before 15 weeks?
It allows an exception after 15 weeks for severely deformed babies . Can you commit murder on deformed babies after they are born ?
Most states have a rape exception. Can you commit murder on a baby born from rape?

The Mississippi law and all other laws on abortion in America, still allow Halachik murder on its own terms.

American law will never codify the halachik definition of abortion. It will always be inconsistent with it.

    All 3 were convicted.

Interestingly, but not surprising, now there are some people who supported rittenhouse’s innocence who suddenly suspect the legal system of an injustice.

A very disturbing part of this case which shows clear racial bias is that these 3 men may never have even gotten arrested until the video was forcibly released.
The McMichaels and Bryan weren’t charged in the killing until more than two months later, after the video was leaked online and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation took over the case.
One of the prosecutors used her position to discourage police from making arrests . A grand jury indicted Jackie Johnson last week on a felony charge of violating her oath of office and a misdemeanor count of obstructing police. Johnson was the area’s top prosecutor when three white men chased and fatally shot Arbery last year.

    AAQ,
Dr. Stephen M. Hahn, who became commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration just weeks before the coronavirus pandemic began, resigned on Jan 20 as part of the routine departure of senior political appointees that happens when a new administration takes office.

Dr. Hahn was about to resign right after Jan 7th in shock at the Trump inspired attack on the capital the previous day.

Dr. Janet Woodcock, the longtime head of the F.D.A.’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Review, has been serving as acting commissioner. Due to he excellent qualifications, she was being considered for the post of commissioner.

The agency has always had an excellent acting commissioner under Biden.

That republicans can still vote for Trump is embarrassing.

Trump’s governing style was that he loved acting commissioners because he did not need senate approval and he could fire them whenever he felt they weren’t sufficient sycophants to him. He did this numerous times with numerous agencies.

    Trump won’t even be nominated.

Saying that Rosenbaum reaching for a weapon means that he was not “unarmed” is politically motivated.
    – “No the stupidity I was referring to was the line of thinking that in the spur of the moment, Kyle, if he wants, can decide where exactly he’s gonna shoot. ”
Rosenbaum was shot 4 times. Maybe he didn’t need to shoot him 4 times to stop him from attacking? The Forensic Pathologist testified that Rosenbaum was first wounded in the groin, then in the hand and thigh, as he faced Rittenhouse. After that, Rosenbaum was shot in the head and in the back. Kelley testified the final two shots were at a downward angle.
    – “it sounds like you are thinking there are many legal reasons kyle should have been found guilty, and the prosecution did a bad job bringing them out.”.

” jackk, your still have to answer why he was prosecuted on the other charges, if you are to argue it wasn’t politically motivated. ”
I am not a prosecutor and I already said that they did a terrible job.

“And you keep referring to Rosenbaum as “unarmed” and keep ignoring the fact that he was trying to get Rittenhouse’s gun. ”
This is a politically motivated slant to change the clear meaning of a English word and you have to ask yourself why you think this way.

The facts are that the first person killed had no deadly weapon – not even the extremely deadly weapon called a skateboard.

“And the notion that he should have just shot him in the arm is 1st grade level stupidity and you know it.”
So you feel that it was stupidity for Kyle to have blown the arm off of of Gaige Grosskreutz. He should have blown his head off.

-“The prosecution did a terrible job.”- I keep seeing people say this, but I don’t see how he could have done a better job considering he didn’t have a case to begin with. ”

I will let experienced prosecution lawyers, who have gotten innocent people sent to death row, answer this. These prosecutors were not the A team.

    “More gaslighting, race-baiting garbage.”
Agreed. But this is the way the BLM people see it. And this is America in the year 2021.

“Jackk, my question to you, is why in your mind should Kyle be guilty, and based on what evidence.”

In my mind, he was not guilty based on the laws of Wisconsin. My feelings are that if he had more experience and was more of an adult ( like the many others people just like him who were out there that night defending ) he wouldn’t have feared for his life from Joseph Rosenbaum.

    Syag,

The jury decided that Kyle was fearful for his life and acted in self-defense in killing 2 people and injuring a third.
Is it possible that Kyle went to a situation where he needs a rifle because he wanted to use it and he found the perfect opportunity? There is nothing that was shown at the trial to determine whether this is true or false.

The comparison to OJ is that money for a good lawyer gives a defendant the advantage in the US over salaried DA’s . Poor people in the justice system are forced into plea deals every day by their court appointed lawyers. You don’t agree to that?

I am (not) sorry that I do not have the time to watch the whole trial. But as I have said other times in the YWN, watching a trial does not help with knowing what the jury will decide. So it is a moot point. The jury sees a very different trial than everyone else and they are not experts and do not hear commentary on the trial.

    It was made political because:
    1) Kyle is a hero to the right because he was defending against the BLM riots that were going on in cities across America.
    2) It was during a protest of the shooting of a black person by police. Jacob Blake was shot and seriously injured by police officer Rusten Sheskey in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Sheskey shot Blake in the back four times and the side three times.

I was referring to the first person he killed, Joseph Rosenbaum, which is why I used the singular.
My point was that he was unarmed and killed anyway therefore to say that there should never have been a prosecution is a false narrative that has been propagated. (By you know who.)

I was not discussing the second killing with a deadly skateboard vs an AR-15 style rifle or of the shooting of a Freeland where he missed or the fourth shooting where he was considered a active in shooter.
What he did to the fourth victim, he might have been able to do to the first three. There surely were many legal reasons for a prosecution. The prosecution did a terrible job.

And we all know if he would have been a poor minority from the other part of Chicago , he would be on death row now for killing 2 white men peacefully protesting.

I am old enough to have seen many murderers get away with it.

Those who are making the vaccine mandates feel that they have given people enough time to get vaccinated on their own volition.
For the sake of public health, those making the mandates are convinced that the benefits of every individual being vaccinated demands that every individual join in this effort. This will hopefully reduce to close to zero the amount of people dying and getting sick from covid.

The medical community has done its job of education regarding the vaccines.

There was hype about “the” vaccine – all 5 of them from different manufacturers (3 in the US) – because until the vaccine there was a Maloch Hamoves killing and causing sickness to tens of millions of people from covid. The vaccines stopped it.
Maybe there is a chiyuv of shehecheyanu.

Masks are just a inconvenience to wear and if it helps protect immunocompromised people from getting sick then it is best to wear it.

Some distrust is healthy suspicion. Too much is conspiracy theory territory.
