The LR clarified the issue of מיהו יהודי הלכתי in Eretz Yisrael. Yeshivas deal with this problem often and in one situation required the family to undergo 4 conversions. JTS used RBC to do גיטין and I was told the Rav approved. There has been controversy in conversions lacking frumkeit for a long time. The Russian minyan in Flatbush closed as did so many other Russian educational institutions. Very few remain. There is almost no kosher food in Brighton. BHG is running an advertising campaign to recruit just as Dr. Schiff ( אי”ש) did years ago.
As far as women go did the CI abd MGHT say that שרות לאומי is יהרג ואל יעבר? Does anyone remember ?
If I am. not mistaken the RY RMG learned in RIETS before he went to Europe. He was a talmid of Rav Paleyeff from the Bronx. Anyone remember?
Rabbi YZM who was the chief Rabbi of Koenigsberg was a talmid of RAE. He was zoche to see the SA wandering and actually smacked him in mistaken identity. His Haksav Vehakabala created a new genre in parshanut connecting the 2 Torahs.
I disagree with K. The facts on the ground are that chasidic college kiruv organizations do use conservative professors on their Beis Din . Especially Ivy Leagues.
A little more from me. Sifrei Musar say a woman is the rib of her husband while alive . She can return as a rib to multiple men. Anyway thanks for correcting me. I knew it was a Baghdadi.
Quite a few RY in YU were from Telz. Like Dr BR and Harav Volk and so many more. Also Rav SS gave shiur for at least one zman. Now YU is essentially Brisk like all other Yeshivas.
I think Rav Ftiha discusses this paradox but I dont remember where. She probably is single because מיתת הבעל מתיר .
All I can say is that he was a son of the Solobodker Illuy in Brownsville. I remember a shiur by the RY Rav AYHP who said that causing a stumbling block for someone requires Teshuva. We learn that out from Yaakov sending Yoseph to check on his brothers. The shiur may be on Utube on וישלחהו מעמק חברון.
When I asked Professor LF where is the source for one witness by מת בעלך he immediately responded that לא יקום עד אחד באיש but באשה הוא קם. So you see he did not use a ghost rider like others did but knew the מקור.

Language is about communication not rules. Didnt know anybody around studied Sumerian after Kramer died. Our language was the first like our אדם the first man. רשי in his first פשט says שפה אחת is Hebrew.
Reminds me of a story. A big chasidic Rabbi from Poland came to the US post holocaust and went to Dean Sar for a position in RIETS. He confided to Sar that he wasnt sure if the American bachurim would understand his English. Sar told him איך האב מורא אז אייער אידיש וועלען זיי אויך נישט פארשטיין. Heard from the Rebbe himself. He had a shtibel on Miller Avenue you know where and then Boro Park. He sat oveynun in Satmar on 53rd St.

The problem with the WS was chilul Shabbos בפרהסיא. The solution included LSS. Cantor SG from New Haven and RSK from Brooklyn
In spite of what is reported we remain proud of MO and its Yeshivot here and in Israel. The RY in YU are outstanding and always were. Dr BDR and SB saw to that. I remember one year each RY gave a shiur on the same inyan in the BM. אשרי עיין ראתה כל אלה.
It is not fair to attribute heresy to the YI movement . The great and amazing Dr DS was referred to as the CC of America. He was Rav of YI ES. I think.
The knowledge of Chassidic texts and Kebalah is absolutely amazing . Both gushniks and jbniks are exceptionally well read. The YU sefarim sale proves this.

Staying in Poland is risky. Going to Palestine is risky. The yidden were faced with this . מעשה ארץ מצרים no. מעשה ארץ כנען no. But the RBSO said ויסעו. In Mesivta TV the Rav Hamashgiach shlita spoke about the raid on Entebbe where YN was killed. RMW held that Entebbe was עין טבע.

Please consider the following. The machlokes of Abaye and Rava whether אי עביד לא מהני or if it is a מצווה הבאה בעבירה . The fact is ההר בידינו and כלל ישראל davens by the kosel regardless.
Harav Feldman stressed the point that we can not demonstrate with Christian clergy. This point is well taken and based on the teaching of the RY RAK zatzal who considered it a chilul Hashem. Harav Feldman also states that for pikuach nefesh we can demonstrate with different types of Jewish clergy. Indeed the Agudas Yisrael has shown that it represents the needs of Klal Yisrael.A big yasher koach to them.
RM, there is no respectable Rav neither in America or Israel who says that Hebrew National is nevelah or treyf. The old Rav Hamachshir was a talmid of the CC of Radin. The present Rav is world recognized talmid of Chevron. Yeshiva University had talmidim of Radin ( Dr. Belkin) , Telz ( Dr. Revel) , the Mir ( Harav Lifshitz), Slutzk ( Harav Paleyeff), Brisk ( Harav Gorelick), and Slabodka ( Rav Shatzkes) All this beside the Geonim Soloveichik . There was never a Yeshiva like Yitzchak Elchanan with such great Rebeyim. Not even close.
AAQ with all due respect do you think that RJBS explanation as to why theology is assur is adequate ? Additionally, The Rabbonim in YU were in 3 camps years ago, L, R and C. With the advent of Dr. Lander’s Yeshiva the R moved from RIETS to Dr. Lander. Do you think Reb Elchanan zatzal would consider it any differently than Dr. Revel’s Yeshiva or BML?
I remember what the RY Harav GS said concerning the Yeshiva of Harav Reines. Anyone else remember that fateful day when the RL Harav OY came to TV maybe in 1974 or so. The bottom line is that it is very rare for one group to recognize and support the Yeshivas of another. But we do know that the SR sent his best talmidim to listen and repeat the shiurim of RYBS.
Do you think this is a continuation or an extension of the well known heter to teach women ? Or do you think it is a separate issur on the goy to learn Torah because of the cheftza of Torah. It would be hard to say its on the gavra because the goy does not listen . Anyway a lot of reyd here .
The koach of heter was expressed by Reb Hersh Pesach Frank, the Rav of Yerushalayim zal. We will not forget . Also, many rabbonim at Yitzchak Elchanan permitted, among them Harav Paleyeff who was a Slutzker and gave shiur from 1920-1966. RHPF was a Telzer.
