I agree, some people really get too drunk on Purim and end up missing the purim seudah in which they have a mitzvah. What really hurts me is when I see small boys running around with cigarettes in their mouths.

I believe that if you think you missed a word of the megillah you can read it yourself and then catch up quickly to the person who is reading.

It has become acceptable in the frum community to wear light color nail polish. I don’t think anything is wrong with it and would allow my daughters to go for manicures (but they don’t want to…)

I would like to understand the reasoning why women bring young babies and children to shul for megillah reading. So far everyone is on my side, saying it is very disruptive and unfair to others. would like to hear the other side of the story.

I asked the question in order to encourage discussion on a matter that really bothers me. It really bothers me when a baby is screaming next to me and then I feel upset because I left my babies home with my husband so I could listen to the megillah. I am glad to see that many posters agree with me, like “QuestionForYou”. I try to go to megillah readings late at night when most kids are sleeping and early the next morning (when they are still sleeping) 🙂 I love kids but not their noise during megillah reading!

so why is it okay if it is a ladies reading? the reason why there is a ladies kriyah is that they can leave the kids home with a husband or baby sitter so they can listen to megillah with menuchas nefesh and do the mitzvah.

no, it is not right for boys to get very drunk and make a big spectacle of themselves on the street. I feel it is very wrong when I see bochurim and young boys SMOKING, “because it’s purim and we can just let loose and do anything we want”.

But there are many people who do the right thing, I am so impressed by the young boys and fathers who go to learn early Purim morning after megillah (called Yeshivas Mordechai) and for the ladies who prepare beautiful purim seudah and daven with kavanah that day and are moser nefesh to hear megillah when there is so much to do!

I like to put on a hat or something subtle on purim…it makes my purim a little happier. and the men are too drunk to notice.

Very good advice from Shuli but even if you follow that you can still break out from hormones. If you have a very severe case you may want to ask your doc about accutane.

You just started shidduchim at the age of twenty SIX? I thought most guys start at twenty three at the latest.

Look at the other details about this girl and if you like what you hear maybe you can give it a try. Twenty five is really not too old for a twenty six year old, is it?

Popa, people are suffering from skin picking and picking lips..

“I have a terrible habit that when I’m bored, nervous or just anytime, my fingers find their way to my lips and I start picking, pulling, ripping… I wish I can stop but I can’t help myself, did anyone have this habit and successfully stop? How?”

another poster wrote about picking her lips so much that she is bleeding, and she feels bad that she picks on shabbos.

they are seeking help here, not jokes.

It isn’t meant to be sliced and served on a plate like a potato kugel or noodle kugel. I serve it in the baking dish I baked it in with a spoon and everyone takes what they want.

If you want to slice and serve you’d be better off with an apple kugel that has the eggs flour oil, if you need a recipe like that I can give you…

nothing happens to the crunch if you bake it more than an hour. if you bake the apples first I would NOT add any water because the apples and cranberry sauce have enough liquid.

Skin picking and hair pulling (trichotillomania), to my knowledge, is a habit and one form of OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). If you google “help for skin picking” there are many web sites that can be helpful. I wouldn’t say someone picking their lips has underlying psychological problems, it’s just a habit that they do without thinking that for some reason they find pleasurable. Except that it does damage to your lips. You could also seek out a cognitive behavioral therapist that deals with skin picking and set out a plan of action how to stop (no you don’t have to talk about your deep problems, childhood etc.) good luck!

I think the problem with short sleeves over long sleeves is that alot of times it is a tight short sleeved shirt over a long sleeved shell. It’s kind of a cool with it look and I cannot imagine a Rebbitzen or school principal wearing one. Personally,

I have no problem with this layered kind of look and my girls do wear it although one daughter chooses not to.

But I do not understand why the standard of the length of skirts got SO SHORT! but that’s another discussion…

New Square. The guy who works the dairy department told me to get that brand, that is what his own family uses. and store in the back of fridge on top shelf, not on the door. So it will stay cold and fresh.

Twiggy, that’s what I thought, how can you eat all this fruit and lose weight. But it works! Instead of reaching for a snack that has points you eat an apple or other fruit. Weight watchers has done alot of research on this before they came out with this plan and people are loving it and eating healthier than ever.

You can say to your host “What can I bring?” This way they can tell you what they could use or if a gift isn’t necessary.

And for sure helping clear the table is much appreciated.

I could work out twenty four hours a day and not lose, for me I have to also watch what I eat.

I think if you lay off the sugar and white flour the pounds will come off. Whole wheat grains, brown rice, and whole wheat bread is more filling and tastes better (in my humble opinion).

When a male relative of mine was sitting shiva, a woman from a choshuvah family came (which was very nice of her). She sat in front of him with her “just just” skirt and the skirt did not cover her knees by a long shot. She kept tugging at her skirt to make it longer (didn’t help). I wanted to give her a small blanket to cover up! This male relative was sitting on a low chair so he had to keep his eyes away from looking up her skirt. How horrible!
