June 14, 2011 4:17 am at 4:17 am in reply to: Guys who reject most of hundred girls they date- are they "ON the Derech"? #777002ilovetheholylandParticipantto all those who say that marriage is not for everyone, i agree, but i thought there is a chazzal or something that says that 40 days before a person is born a bas kol calls out who they are going to marry. can someone clarify?
ilovetheholylandParticipanttikkun – kuddos to you!
i once met a guy who lived in a cave in eretz yisrael. now he could say that he lives <IN> eretz yisrael……..
ilovetheholylandParticipanttikkun – i think that some of the things you listed such as a roof over your head, and a bed would be considered necessities rather than luxuries. (AC i could hear….ive lived without it in israel…it was EXTREMELY tough, but managable…)
as for the middos that you mentioned, its funny, but when i was in israel i found myself sort of adapting to the ‘sabra’ mentality – subconsiously. and i did find that for a young born and bred american girl, it affected me a little. the hard, tough exterior of the israelis masks the soft and gentle insides that they have. however, many times people dont get to see the soft side of israelis. its only in times of need and helping other people that the true colors show. so in my case, being a naive little girl, i only saw the outside in the beginning and that affected me negatively. b”h i bounced right back to my regular self once i realized what was occuring….
twisted – so true! thanx for bringing up that point. there are TREMENDOUS kiruv oppurtunites because the secular israelis make no secret of the fact that they are jewish. many of them are proud of it!
ilovetheholylandParticipantlil b – alot of the so called luxuries that you have in america are non-entities in Eretz Yisrael. it may be hard to give up but once in israel you probably wont even realize that youre missing them. also everything there has a much higher elevation of ruchnius, and people there are not as focused on gashmius indulgance. and always remember that Eretz Yisrael is not a desert island.
ilovetheholylandParticipantTHE BLIND MUSEUM!!!!!!!! its not normal! i think its near tel aviv. if your going up north you could do white water rafting in the jordan river.

June 13, 2011 3:09 am at 3:09 am in reply to: Guys who reject most of hundred girls they date- are they "ON the Derech"? #776973ilovetheholylandParticipantit would be nice to get a date to even be a POSSIBLE reject. of course im not saying that i would reject im really just saying that it would be nice to get a date….
the guys have looooong lists and feel like they could just “go on to the next one on there….” its an insane attitude that ive seen from my relitives first hand! and with an attitude like that, one may never get married.
ilovetheholylandParticipanti think that saying something beforehand and talking about it openly would make me feel more comfortable than just letting me decide on my own what to make of it…and just remember that everyone has their shortcomings.
ilovetheholylandParticipantdy – im lovin the attitude! thanx for that perspective!
ilovetheholylandParticipantive seen them. they look like a cult. they drag their little five year old daughters into it with them.

ilovetheholylandParticipantits really interesting because after i read the book i was like “hey, at least these issues are being addressed and are not taboo subjects.” they are real. they exist.
ilovetheholylandParticipantmalarky, boggle, banana grams, perpetual commotion, taboo.

why dont we just call it “groovin?” lol!
ilovetheholylandParticipantcoffee addict –
thanx for bein articulate! exactly what i was tryin to say…
ilovetheholylandParticipantkach ur supposed to post that we really are siblings and not make me sound foolish to other posters!
ilovetheholylandParticipantlol, is it just me or do other people automatically think that the world will revert back to the olden days in the times of mashiach? but really why should it? we’ll have hummers and caddys parked outside, and automatic doors to the azarah….
ilovetheholylandParticipanti think its a trick by wolf. i think he talks of himself like that so he could hear all the good stuff everyone has to say about him…. 🙂
ilovetheholylandParticipantbeen there, done that. i once heard something that made a really big impression on me. i was told that every time you think about something, it makes a groove in ur brain. for example, ur phone #,has a really deep groove because you repeat it often. so the more you think about something, the deeper the groove gets. then, when ur sorta ‘not thinking at all’, ur “juices” flow into the groove thats the deepest automatically causing you to think about that thing. the way to help yourself is to think about things that sorta counteract the other thing….whatever, sorry if im totally incomprehensible, its just much easier to understand when you have it drawn out in front of you….
ilovetheholylandParticipantkach613
im not a bro, im a sis. and ill give you a hint. i have fins and scales.. 🙂
ilovetheholylandParticipantyeah, i was wonderin the same thing……

i was thinking that way too. but then i realized that its not for us to question why. Hashem has a master plan, and He knows what is best for everyone. we dont see how this could possibly be the best, but you just have to know that it is! i once heard that the world could be compared to the back of a needlepoint. all knotted and messed up. but after 120 we’ll go up and see the clear, beautiful front of the needlepoint. the whole picture. but for now, all we can do is daven to Hashem that whatever this poor boy is going through should i”yh end soon and it should be a kapara for all of klall yisrael!!!
ilovetheholylandParticipantthanx a million!!!!
ilovetheholylandParticipantmusic therapist, THANKS TONS! you were a huge help! one more question…..is there a big market for it? like, is it hard to find a job? oh, and also, how long is the schooling?
ilovetheholylandParticipantsorry if i was unclear. i didnt mean that you should post the wrongdoings that youve done! i meant that you should post how and what helped you overcome them!!!!
ilovetheholylandParticipantthanx everyone. musictherapist, i take it you are 1…..what kind of degree do i need for it? and can you tell me the programs that you know of in the tri-state area and where i can get in touch with them?
ilovetheholylandParticipantmrsbrite7 – that is seriously from the BEST ive ever heard!!! thanx!!!
ilovetheholylandParticipantyeah, ive been to meron for lag baomer. NOTHING LIKE IT IN THE WORLD!!!!
ilovetheholylandParticipantone that i see become increasingly popular. a huge white cloth with a hole in the middle for the kallah. everyone holds the edge and dances around. it looks like a massive gown! dunno if u can really get what im saying from this but…
ilovetheholylandParticipanteven though im a young single, can i still join? i can say 108-114 inclusive every day.
ilovetheholylandParticipantfirst of all MAZAL TOV! i wish you much hatzlacha and happiness in your future. second of all, i dont know of any groups offhand, but i do know that if you let any bais yaakov high school or yeshiva know the date of where youre getting married, and the hall, you will have plenty of people to dance and be happy for you at your wedding. i personally have been to many weddings like this!!!
ilovetheholylandParticipantim 20. and i know thats not old, just when most ppl i know have been dating for well over a year……
ilovetheholylandParticipantit is ouchy and i never really pay attention to “when” i get it…it crops up during the day………and what is reflexology?
ilovetheholylandParticipanthow about not getting a suggestion EVER???? help! 🙁 i feel like im forgotten in the world……what do i do to make it known that im “marketable?”
ilovetheholylandParticipantlol popa! at least ur honest…
ilovetheholylandParticipanthey, could i have one also?
ilovetheholylandParticipanttry eating your any protiens that youre gonna have in the beginning of your meal. it helps you feel fuller and results in your eating less carbs and sugars.
ilovetheholylandParticipantso i would say that one of the most important things i find that keeps me in check, is too save ur notes and stuff from lessons that u enjoyed and reread them once in a while. it really helps!
ilovetheholylandParticipanttake one educated guess 🙂
ilovetheholylandParticipant“The “I” bit was driving me crazy.”
yeah, me too. like “i” went in and killed him with my own 2 hands.
ilovetheholylandParticipanti daven mincha at my work break…..thats when others are watching me, so usually i daven well. same with shul… 🙁
ilovetheholylandParticipantbeen there done that. many times. whenever i get nervous it happens. usually it goes away after the source of the anxiety goes away…..
ilovetheholylandParticipantjust saying that it wasnt always like this. when i was in school and we had a davening room and a set time and place to daven, it was so much easier. and i hate to admit this, but i also find it easier to daven when other people are whatching me….. 🙁
ilovetheholylandParticipant“You need to wash hamotzi for Melave Malke”
correct me if im wrong but i believe mezonos is considard a seudah also.
ilovetheholylandParticipantApril 29, 2011 4:42 am at 4:42 am in reply to: Yom Hashoah…why do charaidim/right wing orthodox not "celebrate"? #762642ilovetheholylandParticipanti will never forget in seminary on yom hashoah when the siren rang one of our very esteemed rabbis was teaching us. and he made us all be silent and get up out of respect.
