Joseph: Since I have never wanted to take a cruise, I never asked any questions about it. I can’t say whether there is more of an issue with a cruise, visiting Miami Beach (or Aruba, Puerto Rico, etc), or walking the streets of Manhattan mid-summer. While a person has the bechira to choose to do an aveira, I cannot state outright that going on a cruise is an outright aveira.
But I do have a question for you: You have to fly somewhere for a business meeting. You board the plane and find yourself sitting next to women who are not dressed appropriately. Are you mechuyev to change your seat? Do you get off the plane?
Many years ago, someone told me that I should not learn or say tehillim while on the subway due to women who are not dressed appropriately. I asked a poseik what I should do and he said: “If the choice is looking into a sefer or looking at the women, choose looking into the sefer.

iacisrmmaParticipantNew York State does not have any exemptions.
Who must report?
There are no automatic exemptions or excuses from jury service in New York State. Everyone who is eligible must serve. You are eligible to serve as a juror in New York State if you are:
1) a United States citizen,
2) at least 18 years old, and
3) a resident of the county to which you are summoned to serve.
In addition, jurors must
4) be able to understand and communicate in the English
language, and
5) not have been convicted of a felony

iacisrmmaParticipantIt is the same as when a pesach program is granted limited rooms for a hotel or resort. They are not there to pasken for anything but the food and for Shabbos issues. As someone else stated above, going on a cruise is a choice. If you feel it is not appropriate don’t go.

After living in England they moved back to the US. They probably moved to Little Rock when he was the State Attorney General.

iacisrmmaParticipantSAFAIK PIKUACH NEFESH does not go that far. If so it would be EIN LDAVAR SOF.
Also, it may not be the wallet of a yid.
iacisrmmaParticipantLB: even though the fruit platter was prepared in a non-kosher kitchen there are some who may be lenient. As LU states consult a Rav with these shailos.

iacisrmmaParticipantZD: The Aruch Hashlchan uses the term HAMATZOS REKIKIN DAKIM which seems to be what you describe. So again, what is your time reference for “new invention”? it seems by the 1800’s (and probably earlier based on the Ritva) they were already being made this way.
iacisrmmaParticipantubiquitin: The Ramah himself in Darkei Moshe on the TUR indicates the opposite of what you write. Also, the Ritva states that one has to make thin matzos. To state as “ZD” does that the thin matzos we have today is a “new invention” may not be accurate.
iacisrmmaParticipantZD: So when the RAMAH says we make the Matzos “REKIKIN” what does he mean? Thin so it boxes nicely?

January 3, 2017 4:18 pm at 4:18 pm in reply to: Confusing halacha, minhag, chumra and shtus* #1211016iacisrmmaParticipantI a not sure why a number of posters are interpreting the word “SHACHACH” as “missed”. SHACHACH means “forget”. If a woman forgets to light candles then there is a penalty. However, if the woman missed do to an “ONOS” then there is no penalty. See the Mishna Berura in the Siman Reish Samach Gimmel Sif Koton Zayin.
http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=49625&st=&pgnum=70&hilite=
A woman who did not light due to childbirth is considered an “ONOS”.
iacisrmmaParticipantLB: One can only eat these type of matzos on Pesach if they have a specific tradition (minhag) to do so. You must consult a Rav.

iacisrmmaParticipantCTLAWYER: I don’t know what math you wee using (maybe Obama’s Common Core) if someone paid $15000 and received a 16.6% increase would be $3320.
iacisrmmaParticipantCTLAWYER: as I argued with you on a previous thread…As you stated the “weighted average” is 16.6%. Is it possible that MFM’s plan is on the higher end of the averages?
Looking at the website there are plans that under “Individual” approved rate increase range from a low of 6% to a high of 80.5%.
Under “Small Group” the range is 5% to 58.5%.
So please stop using “weighted average”. It is not the average approved to each company.
iacisrmmaParticipantLU: Rabbi Hoffman writes articles that are printed in the 5 Towns Jewish Times and someone uploads them to YWN.
December 27, 2016 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm in reply to: song i am trying to figure out somethinkg like vechol bereh lecha sidra #1206071iacisrmmaParticipantLU: I read the OP again and it asked for the “name of the song”, not just the exact words.
iacisrmmaParticipantLU: I am currently learning with the Dirshu Mishna Berurah and he quotes the Igros Moshe extensively. However, Rabbi Hoffman in his article quotes on the issue of Vsein Tal Umatar “Unless you are a talmid of Rav Moshe, most people follow the Mishna Brurah.”
This is not the only place where “hamon am” does not follow R’ Moshe. One of the other places is the haftorah for Shabbos Shuva where R’ Moshe writes that one only should say the Haftorah from Hoshea and not add on from the other neviim as most kehillos do.
iacisrmmaParticipantMeno: He says whatever the chazan is saying.

There is enough business to go around.
iacisrmmaParticipantCTLWAYER: It is good to hear that you benefited from the ACA. Not everyone is able to say that.
IMHO, Obama will be remembered as the first African-American President who came into office with relatively little experience and even after eight years did not learn on the job. He will be remembered as a Democratic President whose party disintegrated under his leadership.
While his domestic policy may be remembered in a better light, his foreign policy will be remembered for serious flaws bordering on ineffective, including what is happening in Syria. His latest move regarding Israel and the UN will never be forgotten.

Nussach Ashkenaz says ???? ??? ???? ???? ?????. ????? ?????? ???? ?????????. ????? ??????? ???? ???????.
However, I took the question from the OP as he/she was looking for a song that is sung wit these words and what the exact name of the song is.

December 21, 2016 8:00 pm at 8:00 pm in reply to: Eating Before Shacharis if it helps to daven #1204701iacisrmmaParticipantgolfer: It’s not supernatural. A shliach tzibbur paces himself and knows what his limitations are. In the 1990’s I used to walk 1.5 miles to be a shliach tzibbur for shacharis and mincha for a small shul and then walked back the 1.5 miles to daven neilah with my family.
It was much harder for the Kohen Gadol to the entire avodah by himself then to daven fo the amud.

See Beraishis Perek Chaf Bais Passuk Yud Daled Rashi Divrei Hamaschil HAYOM. Now Rashi says AD HAYOM HAZEH while by Kever Rochel it says AD HAYOM.
December 20, 2016 9:31 am at 9:31 am in reply to: Location of Kever Rochel and other kevarim #1204257iacisrmmaParticipantIt is not a Rashi in chumash but in the gemorah. I am trying to recall where.
iacisrmmaParticipantGeordie13: The reason why Kaeyla is so popular is not the trop of Azla-geireish but that the previous passuk ends with words YAASU ES EILEH. Since the words are similar many people say the last word of the passuk and then the first word of the next passuk.
As for the trop on KATONTI, it is a machlokes and most do not follow the GRA who says the trop is a revii and lein it with an Azla-geireish.
iacisrmmaParticipantModerators: are you seriously going to allow this thread?
Yes, but I probably won’t approve any posts for it.
iacisrmmaParticipantgartel or belt? Depends if your a chosid or a litvalk.
Lchatchila one should start S’E with the chazon. Bede’eved if one of the other mispsllelim who started with the Chazon is still davening S’E it is considered as tefillah btzibur.
iacisrmmaParticipantAbba_s: I did not voice an opinion as to which way is better. I only noted what my experience has been. I have both sons and daughters in the shidduch process. If a shidduch is read for my son and we say yes, we don’t listen to or check out other girls until we get an answer from the girls side. When a shidduch was read for my daughter we do our best to do our research within a reasonable amount of time. If the shaddchan starts pressing we just say we are checking into it.

iacisrmmaParticipantadocs: in case one side says no you are not wasting the other sides time.
iacisrmmaParticipantAbba_S: In my experience the boys family is contacted first and when they give a yes the girls family is contacted. Why this way? Because the shadchanim said so.
