Blue Fringe was somewhat popular a few years ago; however, many people did not appreciate their music.

In this case I agree with BoysWork.

I know someone who worked in the house of Rav Oshry in the Bronx and she was trustworthy in keeping a kitchen kosher.
iacisrmmaParticipantyekke2: I am open to hearing different peshatim. I do not know how or if the Rebbe reconciles his peshat with the Rambam.
iacisrmmaParticipantYekke2: are you saying that I am misquoting the Lubavitcher Rebbe? The Rebbe is explaining the term Arbaah Bonim. Are you saying that the Baal Haggadah didn’t say that?
iacisrmmaParticipantBTW, if my choice is between your interpretation and the Rebbe, I choose the Rebbe (and I am not Lubavitch)
iacisrmmaParticipantIf you suspect you have malware you can try malwarebytes . CClleaner can erase cookies/internet history and other files that are slowing down your system.
iacisrmmaParticipantyekke2: I have heard a number of tirutzim. One is from The Lubavitcher Rebbe TZTZAL notes that the Baal Haggadah refers to them as ARBAAH BONIM (the 4 sons). Even though he is a “rasha” he is still part of “BONIM ATEM L’ASHEM and is still a “ben”.
Another teretz I heard is that the the Torah tells us the question (Shemos Yud Beis passuk Chav Vav) וְהָיָה כִּי יֹאמְרוּ אֲלֵיכֶם בְּנֵיכֶם מָה הָעֲבֹדָה הַזֹּאת לָכֶם and the answer (Shemos Yud Beis passuk Chav Zayin): וַאֲמַרְתֶּם זֶבַח פֶּסַח הוּא לַיהֹוָה. While the Baal Haggadah did not write the second passuk he does write the reaction: “Lachem Vlo Lo”. The Rasha is saying: Lachem? to you? You owe something to Hashem and you are bringing a korban Shelamim which you enjoy eating? If it’s is to Hashem you should bring a Korban Olah which totally goes to Hashem and not a Shelamim?
The Rasha doesn’t want to understand that a davar gashmi (mundane) can be transformed into a davar ruchni (spiritual) and is willing to spread that message. This is why the Baal Haggadah’s reaction is so harsh.
I know it does not totally answer your question. I think only those who are experts in Kiruv Rechokim can really answer your question.
iacisrmmaParticipantWTP: The gemora in Avoda Zarah Daf Yud Alef Amud Alef only states that Onkelos touched the mezuzah; it doesn’t say he kissed it.
iacisrmmaParticipantsorry but I don’t drink. However, if some poster is going to post a comment the I think “shmeks of leitzanos”, I have a right to answer.

iacisrmmaParticipantSome attribute it the ARIZAL. It is brought in the Kitzur Shulchan Aruch Hilchos Mezuzah (11:24).
iacisrmmaParticipantWTP: not totally redundant. Panko Bread Crumbs are made specifically from white bread. As for gluten free..identity crisis…goes along with all other non-gebrokts items.
iacisrmmaParticipantPanko=bread crumbs (in Japanese cooking)
iacisrmmaParticipantRabbi Menschem Mannes Mandel TZATZAL, the menahel of Yeshiva of Brooklyn referred to his talmidos in the same way.
iacisrmmaParticipantI only know about Rabbi Brazil’s reputation when he was here in the US and from his son-in-law. I do not know anything about his yeshiva in EY.
iacisrmmaParticipantRabbi Kreisworth split from Mercaz two years ago and started Toras Chaim.
iacisrmmaParticipantRif: I do not have personal experience (meaning my own children) but I have seen bochurim from my neighborhood (who I would say were in the same category as you describe your son) who blossomed in (alphabetic order):
Yeshiva Adereth Hatorah (Rabbi Senter)
Yeshiva Ateres Yerushalayim (AKA “AJ” )
Yeshiva Mercaz Hatorah
Yeshiva Toras ChaimHatzlacha!
iacisrmmaParticipantTry the Borsalino store on Route 9 (1328 River Avenue). I was there a few weeks ago.
iacisrmmaParticipantG..613: I agree with a number of things you wrote. However, the advice you gave is not what the bachur has asked for (even though I agree with your POV). It is one of the reasons why, in your own words, “I see that basically you’ve gotten nowhere.”.
Having a son who deals with bochurim similar to the OP (and I would say on a lower level of ruchniyos than the OP), his approach and advice is different than yours, probably because he understands the “Flatbush” mentality of the bochurim and their parents. Telling the bochur “you have to be willing to leave your comfort zone” does not generally work in these situations. Sometimes we have to adapt to where they are now. bring them up a notch and then do as you suggest.
iacisrmmaParticipantAren’t reidels made only of metal as it is hard to remove the dough from plastic?
iacisrmmaParticipantgr8bochur: Yam Hatorah is a good yeshiva but very small. It has warm rabbeim (most from the sevivah of Yeshivas Chofetz Chayim). The menahel Rabbi Pollack is a son-in-law of Rabbi Shaya Cohen who is the driving force behind the yeshiva. They do take the boys on trips. However, I am not sure of the “cell phone” policy.

March 26, 2017 11:52 am at 11:52 am in reply to: Looking for nusach for sign regarding a Bris #1244106iacisrmmaParticipantPlease be more specific. I can’t figure out if you are looking to announce a bris or the tefilos at a bris.
iacisrmmaParticipantg..613: That was R’ Yaakov’s minhag but I am not sure who he attributed it to. As the story goes, he was Matter Neder on the first day of shavuous (which was Erev Shabbos) after his second marriage as the Rebbetzin made milchigs for kiddush. He told his talmidim that he did not want her to be upset and it was better that he be matter neder for that day. He reaccepted his minhag after that.
iacisrmmaParticipantLU: you wrote “who says it’s muttar to eat lox?”. Just because it makes you sick doesn’t meN it assur for someone else.
iacisrmmaParticipantG613: I am looking for the picture but I am sure it is RavShwab sitting.
iacisrmmaParticipantLU: thousands yidden eat lox (aka smoked salmon) on a daily basis. Why do you think it is assur?
Geordie613: butter also melts on s toasted bagel making it oily.
iacisrmmaParticipantSent the OU pictures from Twitter page.
iacisrmmaParticipantAnother nonsensical thread. People toast bagels all the time. Stop with this “assur” nonsense.
iacisrmmaParticipantgeordie613: While I know who to contact, I have taken the position that when in my house you have to follow what I do. Once married and in your own dwelling you can follow your rabbeim.
There’s a famous picture from one of the Agudah conventions that shows Rav Schwab TZATZAL sitting reciting havdallah and Rav Schwadron standing and listening.
I grew up with my father following his minhagim from his home. However, if he did not a specific minhag for something he adopted the minhag of my maternal grandfather.
iacisrmmaParticipantMeno: I have, on multiple occasions.
iacisrmmaParticipantI am one who strongly believes that one should follow his family’s minhagim. However, my son’s do not. I have heard from them “this is not what I saw in yeshiva” or “my Rosh Yeshiva does differently”. For example, I stand for Sholom Aleichem and for Kiddush Leil Shabbos. My oldest son does not. My father, maternal grandfather, and father in law all stood for havdallah; my oldest son sits.
iacisrmmaParticipantubiquitin: Regarding Kitniyos: Because the Ramah says “v’ein lshanos”? Because the Shaarei Teshuvah says that it is a minhag that goes back hundreds of years and adds the words “V’ein L’hakil Vhameikel Poretz Geder”?
iacisrmmaParticipantJoseph: I once wrote a post that was rejected. I wrote the moderator and asked why and he responded directly to me. He pointed out exactly why my post was rejected. I thought I had a valid point but ultimately was shown why it violated CR rules.
March 19, 2017 1:18 pm at 1:18 pm in reply to: Pesach cleaning with denture cleansing tablets #1238459iacisrmmaParticipantLB: many cleaning products have either chametz or kitniyos. Some are allowed on Pesach and others are not. Please visit the websites of the OU and the Star-K and download their Pesach guides.
iacisrmmaParticipantAnd neither is the moderator! I have questioned why my posts were not approved and the moderator answered. I may not agree but understand what the job of the moderator is.
iacisrmmaParticipantIMHO, your request is not reasonable. How does one explain why a name is good?
iacisrmmaParticipantZD: Is it that the Great Neck community is part of the Vaad of Queens or that the kosher establishments chose the Vaad of Queens as their hechsher?
If you look at the Vaad’s website they don’t list Great Neck as part of their “community”.
iacisrmmaParticipantMezuzos generally remain kosher for years and therefore are generally not replaced often. For example, most of the mezuzos in my house are 30 years old and when recently checked only one (out of 13) needed to be replaced. So I am not sure that the reason it is expensive is because of lack of demand; I bought most of my mezuzos for $50 – $75; at the time the “smallest” and least expensive ones were $25 and are the ones that generally have to be replaced earlier as the smaller the osiyos (letters) are written leads to them “cracking” due to the way the mezuzos are rolled.
March 19, 2017 7:23 am at 7:23 am in reply to: Pesach cleaning with denture cleansing tablets #1238127iacisrmmaParticipantI am not sure that denture cleaning tablets are any better than the regular cleaning products used.
iacisrmmaParticipantCTLAWYER: I quoted from Rabbi Krohn’s Bris Milah book and personal knowledge. I will ask my “yekkishe” friends what the minhag is in their community (most of them come from Washington Heights).
March 18, 2017 10:55 pm at 10:55 pm in reply to: Pesach cleaning with denture cleansing tablets #1238045iacisrmmaParticipantDon’t use them since I don’t have dentures.
iacisrmmaParticipantsarit90: There are various names that have been used for centuries. While I may like a certain name, others don’t. Ashkenazim tend to name after deceased relatives while to many sefardim naming after a living relative is a “segula larichat yamim”.
I would suggest that you buy or borrow the ArtScroll Bris Milah book by Rabbi Paysach Krohn and read the sections regarding naming children.
iacisrmmaParticipantCTLAWYER: My maternal grandfather bought my tefillin. The sofer insisted that I try them on. I told him that I couldn’t as the tefillin were nussach ashkenaz and has the single daled. The sofer took the tefillin and in two minutes the tefillin were nussach sefard with a double daled.
