Well there are people who spend $30 for a LB of Shmura Matza!
iacisrmmaParticipantclickbait is still (IMO) not appropriate for a frum website.
iacisrmmaParticipantGH: It is not “absurd” to ask if something is halachically mandated. In this case, we know that it cannot be “meakeiv” as L….11210 states above, one does not shower on Shabbos prior to going to the mikvah.
iacisrmmaParticipantapushitayid: My son was in Lakewood and avoided the freezer by starting to date before the zman started. As per BMG rules he was allowed to continue dating her and B”H the shidduch came to fruition.
iacisrmmaParticipantWhy are you moderating while driving? Isn’t it safer to wait until you arrive at your destination?
🙄
iacisrmmaParticipantLU: I agree with you that it is not a crisis for girls who are 22 or younger and not yet married. I am also not in agreement with the new initiative that boys should start dating earlier (21 and not 23). Many bochurim are now going to EY after 2 – 3 years after graduating form Mesivta whichm eans that they will be in EY when they are 21 and 22. I also do not agree that when someone is in EY for two or three years and then come back and go to BMG that they have to be in the “freezer”.

As for our menu, my wife has full control.
iacisrmmaParticipantGoogle “Chaim Fessel”. His website may help.
August 27, 2017 3:01 pm at 3:01 pm in reply to: Rosh HaShanah 5778 Menu Plans, Family traditions, New Ideas, etc. #1347943iacisrmmaParticipantWhat’s on the menu for shabbos?
iacisrmmaParticipantIt seems R’ Moshe disagrees with the Mishna Berurah who clearly states how the Shar Zmanios are calculates as being 12 equal parts.
iacisrmmaParticipantGamanit and WTP: I am not sure an attribution to a fictional character is appropriate to this discussion. Even attributing it to J. K. Rowling may not be appropriate.
Some people say the word, some don’t.
iacisrmmaParticipantslonimer: I don’t have a good reason for that but I have seen two misheberachs – one for the boys in the family and one for the girls.
iacisrmmaParticipantWhat makes pesukim from Tehillim a secular song?
iacisrmmaParticipantI don’t know if what the “mekor” is but we find that certain simanim in the Shulchan Aruch have the “osios” rearranged to not spell certain words:
Siman 275: The siman is referred to as “AYIN REISH HAY” and not “REISH AYIN and HAY”
http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=49625&st=%D7%A2%D7%A8%D7%94&pgnum=107
Siman 344: The siman is referred to as “SHIN DALED MEM” and not “SHIN MEM and DALED”
http://www.hebrewbooks.org/pdfpager.aspx?req=49625&st=%D7%A2%D7%A8%D7%94&pgnum=388
iacisrmmaParticipantDepends if I already ate fleishigs. If yes, chicken. If not, Ice Cream.
August 23, 2017 10:23 am at 10:23 am in reply to: How could a multi-billion dollar thief do teshuva? #1345577iacisrmmaParticipantjoseph: Had your question started “How does..” instead of “How could…” I would have interpreted it the way you just stated. I would suggest he learn Shaarei Teshuva.
iacisrmmaParticipantNobody knows. They could have easily been part of the dispersion at the time of the Dor Haflagah.
iacisrmmaParticipantMany posts to this forum asks for opinions, not facts. A fact, by nature, can’t be controversial.
August 23, 2017 3:26 am at 3:26 am in reply to: How could a multi-billion dollar thief do teshuva? #1345436iacisrmmaParticipantThat is between HKB”H and the person.
August 22, 2017 7:38 pm at 7:38 pm in reply to: Here we go again with alleged theft of public funds #1345370iacisrmmaParticipantakuperma: You wrote “It proves only that a prosecutor is out to get you, not that you are guilty.” As someone who works for a prosecutorial agency I find this statement “offensive”. While it is possible that an elected District Attorney may want to bring certain type of prosecutions, line Prosecutors are not out to get anybody. White collar crime investigations are generally investigated for 1 or 2 years before they are even presented to a grand jury. Many times the potential defendants are given an opportunity to meet with the prosecutors to work on a pre-indictment resolution. We do not know if this was offered in this case. While I do believe that a Grand Jury “can indict a tuna sandwich”, more often than not there is still evidence that something is wrong.

August 18, 2017 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm in reply to: Chareidim overwhelmingly voted for Trump, are you satisfied? Any optimism? #1342549iacisrmmaParticipantBottom line is that the major areas where we voted were in states that Trump lost so our votes didn’t make a difference. Just remember, without NY and CA, Hillary would have lost the popular vote.
August 18, 2017 3:51 pm at 3:51 pm in reply to: Do We Now Need Lights & Sirens To DAVEN?!?!! #1342546iacisrmmaParticipantFor those of us old enough to remember, the Lubavitcher Rebbe had a similar escort to visit the kever of his shver. It isn’t new. I don’t know if those were police cars or other types of vehicles that have permission to have sirens. If it is the latter, it is probably a misuse of the sirens.
August 18, 2017 3:47 pm at 3:47 pm in reply to: Let’s Hock About The Woman On The Bus Who Refused To Move #1342542iacisrmmaParticipantWhat was the purpose of posting this video? Especially when we don’t have the video of the entire confrontation. I don’t know about this bus so I can’t comment about what the normal seating arrangement is.
August 18, 2017 1:44 pm at 1:44 pm in reply to: What’s a girl to do if her father is not a Talmid Chacham? #1342006iacisrmmaParticipantjoseph: I am asking for the passuk in the Torah like we have for the brother.
iacisrmmaParticipantJF02: Where is it stated that a bechor born by C-section is not a bechor for “PI SHNAYIM”?
iacisrmmaParticipantI didn’t look at the dates carefully. I apologize to the forum for asking a question on a comment from 3 years ago.
August 18, 2017 11:49 am at 11:49 am in reply to: Chareidim overwhelmingly voted for Trump, are you satisfied? Any optimism? #1341835iacisrmmaParticipantHaimy: Did you really want us to vote for H. Clinton?
August 18, 2017 11:47 am at 11:47 am in reply to: Why a Bigger Yarmulka is a Better Yarmulka #1341829iacisrmmaParticipantDovidBT: Is the size 8 too small for you? I prefer to wear a size 8 and it fits my head comfortably . I have noticed that sizing is different depending on the manufacturer.
iacisrmmaParticipantjoseph: Why do you state that R’ Kahane HYD thought he was safest in America?
August 18, 2017 10:17 am at 10:17 am in reply to: Best Minyan for a modern orthodox jew in Lakewood Jackson Brick area?? #1341767iacisrmmaParticipantRebAvrom: Now that you clarified that you will move to a certain area near the shul, it will be easier for those who live there to guide you. Personally, I am not sure that there is a “best”. I personally have some “shiechas” with the family of R’ Shlomo Gissinger of Congregation Khal Zichron Yaakov and you may want to call him for guidance.
August 18, 2017 10:15 am at 10:15 am in reply to: What’s a girl to do if her father is not a Talmid Chacham? #1341760iacisrmmaParticipantjoseph: I know the mekor in the Torah for the brothers, but where is the mekor for the father?
iacisrmmaParticipantI prefer a bigger kippah to cover the bald spot.
August 17, 2017 8:44 pm at 8:44 pm in reply to: Best Minyan for a modern orthodox jew in Lakewood Jackson Brick area?? #1341459iacisrmmaParticipantI think you may want to narrow down your search area. You are covering a pretty large area in square miles.
August 17, 2017 1:34 pm at 1:34 pm in reply to: Men marrying younger women: Chassidic vs Yeshivish #1341216iacisrmmaParticipantjoseph: I have read many of the articles and ads about the “age” gap. Does anyone have actual accurate numbers to back up this claim? Yes I know there are many young ladies and woman looking for a shidduch. Yet, is it really wrong to try and be meshadach a 25 yoa male and a 21 or 22 yoa female?
iacisrmmaParticipantDamoshe: there are specific mention of Brochos on those phenomena in the gemora. There is no Brocha mentioned in the gemora regarding an eclipse.
August 15, 2017 6:14 pm at 6:14 pm in reply to: The Casualties of Yiddish in Litvishe Chadorim #1339749iacisrmmaParticipantjoseph: It would seem that while it was possible Rashi may have known Yiddish he certainly didn’t use it in his writings. When he defined words it seems to be in French (or what we now call “old French” or in Rashi’s terms B’LAZ).
iacisrmmaParticipantZD: The doubt was only in Japan and once the Chazon Ish gave his psak the hanhalah and talmidim of Mir only observed 1 day. Everyone agrees that Shanghai is west of all the halachic datelines and only held Shabbos for 1 day.
iacisrmmaParticipantZD: Even according to R’ Tukatzinsky, it is not the same issue. Hawaii is totally west of his dateline so he holds that on what we call Friday, is Shabbos in Hawaii. His dateline runs through Alaska (part of the state is to the east and the majority is to the west. We don’t know if he holds that the dateline zig zags to allow for contiguous land area to be in the same time zone (Australia) (shita of the Chazon Ish) therefore it only a safeik. See the Dateline map on the Star-K website.
August 13, 2017 9:14 pm at 9:14 pm in reply to: The Casualties of Yiddish in Litvishe Chadorim #1338104iacisrmmaParticipantI wonder how I endured learning Yiddish when I went to yeshiva in the 1960’s? We spoke English in my house not Yiddish and yet I was able to deal with it.
iacisrmmaParticipantIf you didn’t want anyone to answer you, then why did you bother posting in the first place? This is a forum; you post and we then discuss. If you didn’t want that then write a letter to the editor at The Yated or Mishpacha.
I doubt highly that most people think school is s forbidden word. Except you of course.
iacisrmmaParticipantSG: None of my other children were burnt out at 10….Do you actually have children of your own? Or just someone who is totally clueless?
Do I or any other parent have to wait and fight not only other yeshiva parents but public school parents in late August and early September?
We took one Sunday morning (the seventh Sunday since school finished) to shop for his supplies (since his school lets the parents know in advance what to buy).
Vacation…..the whole summer when he is in day camp and doesn’t come home to do homework. Almost every parent shops for school during the summer months (at least for the basics) when they are on sale. Every Sunday has been either going to parks or other child related activities.
iacisrmmaParticipantNo Squeak, the molad is the “conjunction”.
iacisrmmaParticipant770Chabad: Until I was 8 years old (and my siiblings were 11 and 10) our main baby sitter was our uncle.
iacisrmmaParticipantSG: tell your nephew “that’s life”. You want to appease him, fine. My seven year old received his supply list and was very happy to shopping with my wife last week.
iacisrmmaParticipantSG: The signs are for the parents. We are doing our sales now. Come to the store today and save. It is the way that a store generates revenue.
iacisrmmaParticipantLakewoodNJMom: “The reader and A Heimishe Mom always have the option not to click on an article if it isn’t of interest.”. However, one can’t always tell by the headline if they are interested in the story. Sometimes it is just a request for tefillos for a person.
August 11, 2017 1:47 pm at 1:47 pm in reply to: Tight-fitting clothing and tznius – the elephant in the room #1337592iacisrmmaParticipantGH and RY: This is not the first time that you have given your nonsensical opinion about “scooping bagels”. You don’t like doing it, don’t. Don’t use words like assur or mutar on something so mundane.
August 11, 2017 1:14 pm at 1:14 pm in reply to: When politicians use “Daas Torah” for “the Tzibbur’s benefit” #1337561iacisrmmaParticipantIf you have a specific example please state so. I can’t figure out from your question what point you are trying to make.
