apushatayid: I don’t know what that has to do with the original question. However, if you must know, it depends on the week and which of my children are home from yeshiva. It’s time for you to understand that most people who eat CS are not going to be convinced to eat CY based on the comments here in the CR. Whether I buy butter, ice cream, flavored cream cheese, sour cream, milk once a week or once a month, CS is still significantly cheaper then CY.

Costco membership fee – $60/yr or $5 a month. It’s very possible it is within his budget. Personally, I am not makpid on CY. If I know that either family members or friends who are makpid are coming over, we buy CY products for them. It seems that in the OP’s example, it is a close friendship between Reuvain and Shimon and not a case where Shimon is inviting many guests.

Really? Shoprite in Brooklyn – 1 lb of butter (sticks) – 2.99 – 3.99. Does CY even have sticks of butter? Tnuva is the closest with a 3.5 ounce bar at 1.99 (4 bars 14 ounces 7.96 Moisha’s).
    Ice cream 48 oz -(Turkey Hill or Friendly’s, sometimes Breyer’s) – 2.50. I don’t even price Klein’s or Mehadrin.
Flavored cream cheese – Shoprite brand 8 oz 2.99. CY in Moisha’s 5.49.

If you know stores with CY prices like the CS in Shoprite please post them.

    The passuk in Devarim 25:2-3 states: :

The passuk refers to Makkah (singular). Plural would be Makkos.

“Dozens of attacks”? Well that means at least 24 attacks of terrorism. Please name them.

And what exactly is the “crisis”? The shootings in Vegas and Sutherland Springs were probably the result of those with either mental illness or mental impairment. It is time to treat mental illness for what it is and possibly start putting these people in asylums as was done in the 1950’s and the 60’s.

LB: your post describing your communicating with your family should have been your initial post. It makes more sense then “That 6 hour difference was nice while it lasted. It brought us closer to our Yidden across the sea in the Middle East”. And I wouldn’t have responded as I would have understood what your real point was. LB: I am sorry but your post is nonsensical. EY did not move a longitude to the west making it an hour closer. It is simply a clock manipulation. A flight to EY would take the same ~11 hours it always takes. And yes, my son lives in EY and I speak t o him 4-5 a week and he did not feel any closer because of the 6 hour differential.

apushatayid answered “Goldmans” which offered their products at substantially lower prices than the other brands available at the time relying on the profits from their regular products to cover the higher production costs of the CY products. While it did help at the time as it forced Mehadrin, J&J, and Golden Flow to lower prices, it was not a sustainable policy in the long run.

yehudayona: Not really. Until 2007, gallon container prices were regulated by the state and the maximum price was significantly less then what CY would charge. Even though those regulations ended they did not start to sell them in the NY area even though they shipped the gallon containers outside the NY area.

CBS2 Exclusive: ATM Skimmer Found In Howell Tied To Over 100 Fraudulent Transactions
    October 19, 2017 7:22 PM
    Monmouth County

HOWELL, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Police in New Jersey are warning bank customers to be on the lookout for an ATM skimming scam.

Howell Township Police said two men have made over 100 fraudulent transactions in Monmouth County, and stolen the debit card numbers of just as many.

“These are professionals, not just two guys got together try to scam people. This is an elaborate, complex, international scheme,” Christian Antunez told CBS2’s Meg Baker.

They do it with external skimming devices at locations you might think are the safest — your local bank.

The Howell branch of the Manasquan bank first noticed that someone smeared something on the security camera lens.

“When we started to put everything together we realized that so far here in Howell Township, about thirty to forty-thousand dollars of fraudulent withdrawals,” Antunez said.

The accounts were foreign, mostly Canadian.

Police recovered a skimmer from the branch in Manasquan in early September. Evidence shows it was in place for three days stealing personal information from dozens of customers.

“That’s my bank, so kind of worrying,” Tom Kosch said.

Police suspect the cards and pins recorded in New Jersey will be used out of state or in a different country.

“I always pull my account up every day to check it because I’m paranoid about that kind of stuff anyway,” Kosch said.

It’s suspected that the perpetrators may be from New York.

“They rented a car at a rental agency in Brooklyn,” Antunez said.

And they used a fake Italian license with the name Michelle Toto to do it.

Police are hoping someone recognizes the criminals and advises people to pull on the ATM, if it’s fake it won’t be secured very well.

Authorities believe their lead on the suspects could open up investigations in other New Jersey counties — one case in Middlesex County has already been tied to the scam.

R’ Yaakov and Rav Pam were both well versed in these areas. If you want to go to an extreme for yourself, and not give out candy, kol hakovod. My Rosh Yeshiva stated outright that one can give candy to the children who come to your door on Halloween.

joseph: Have YOU considered that these gedolim may have not have been at home when neighborhood children came collecting and that is why we don’t know what they did? Were you personally with these gedolim on any halloweeen to know what they did? People who actually spoke to R’ Yaakov or were in Rav Pam’s house saw what they did so stop downplaying their actions so as to conform to your shita.

Based on your shita, one shouldn’t dress up in a costume on Purim because these gedolim didn’t dress up in costumes on Purim.

While 1/2 gallon milk prices are somewhat competitive with chalav stam, gallon size containers are not sold in the NY Markets as those prices are controlled and the CY dairies do not want to be subjected to those controls.

GH: The issue can come up in modern times as follows: the bris milah of someone’s son is taking place on Rosh Chodesh. Since we usually make the bris right after davening in the morning, it is customary for the Avi Haben and the Sandek to wear their tefilin. Does the Avi Haben and the Sandek put their tefilin back on after musaf for the bris? I personally was told not to while my friends son-in-law was told to put his tefilin back on.

When R’ Yaakov Kaminetsky TZATZAL moved to Mosey, a frum local resident approached him to tell him about Halloween. He told the person not to worry, the Rebbetzin had already bought the candy.

The children in Kensington would stop by the house of R’ Avrohom Pam TZATZAL as his Rebbetzin would distribute freshly made popcorn.

You asked: Also, is there a common Jewish or halachic standard as to which husband to bury a twice-widowed wife next to?

If she only had children with one of the two husbands then common practice is to bury next to the husband she had children with. I do not know what the practice is if she had children from both.
