I had one pulled a few years ago by Dr. Saar Amrami at Kings Highway Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (E. 19th st and Kings Highway in Brooklyn). He told me that due to the tooth being very close to the nerve, the procedure would take longer than normal and the discomfort would linger for a few days. He was on top of the situation and called me twice in the first 24 hours to see how I was doing. I missed 2 days of work because the residual bleeding was “heavy” due to medication that I was taking (which he warned me was going to happen).

November 19, 2017 5:07 pm at 5:07 pm in reply to: Proper etiquette for bochor speaking to girl’s parents #1405825iacisrmmaParticipantJoseph: your question (in bold font) said “very loud” not just loud. I never made my children say brochos very loud. They had to be audible to others but not “very loud”.
November 19, 2017 1:31 pm at 1:31 pm in reply to: Proper etiquette for bochor speaking to girl’s parents #1405766iacisrmmaParticipantI don’t expect the boy to do that as I never insisted that my children do that.
iacisrmmaParticipantThere are rumors that the Queen will bypass Charles and hand the Kingdom to William. I don’t know if she is legally allowed to bypass Charles…..
iacisrmmaParticipantsmerel: The family rov does not necessarily have to be the Rov of their shul. One of the resumes we received for my son had the family Rov listed as Rav Elya Brudny from Mir even though they did not live in Brooklyn. They also listed the name of their shul rov.
iacisrmmaParticipantAccording to weather . com it is 52 degrees.
Winter coat? No
Jacket? Hooded Sweatshirt
Hats? Only on shabbos
Gloves? Not cold enough yetWhen you’re walking around town, what do you wear on your feet? Shoes and socks
iacisrmmaParticipantHow come? I don’t know. Maybe because you live in the USA and we don’t fawn over them or write about them everyday. However, he is seen in photographs a few times a year. Also, since she is the Queen, he did not get the title “king” but remained “Prince”.
iacisrmmaParticipantzd: Certain types of shailos does not call for the poseik to know you. If I put open fleishigs to warm up in my milchigs toaster oven and I ask how to kasher it, does the rov have to know me to give an answer? –
November 16, 2017 7:35 pm at 7:35 pm in reply to: Yeshiva Boys Are Allowed To Wear Colored Shirts! #1405072iacisrmmaParticipantJoseph: two different schools. The first school I mentioned where the bochurim approached the menahel was in the 1990’s.
As to YTI, you are correct.
November 16, 2017 5:25 pm at 5:25 pm in reply to: Yeshiva Boys Are Allowed To Wear Colored Shirts! #1404992iacisrmmaParticipantjoseph: Correct, except for their Brooklyn Branch Yeshiva Tiferes Yisroel which requires it starting in 8th grade.
November 16, 2017 2:42 pm at 2:42 pm in reply to: Yeshiva Boys Are Allowed To Wear Colored Shirts! #1404898iacisrmmaParticipantI guess you never saw the passuk in Koheles 9:8: בְּכָל־עֵ֕ת יִֽהְי֥וּ בְגָדֶ֖יךָ לְבָנִ֑ים
November 16, 2017 12:28 pm at 12:28 pm in reply to: Yeshiva Boys Are Allowed To Wear Colored Shirts! #1404798iacisrmmaParticipantThe Ranbi: At least in one yeshiva, the high school bochurim approached the Menahel and asked if they can go to a white shirt only policy. Once it was adopted they didn’t revert back.
My children are allowed to wear colored shirts when they are not in yeshiva. By the way, white is a color.
iacisrmmaParticipantDovidBT: The Rov of my shul consults with his Rosh Yeshiva when necessary.
iacisrmmaParticipantYes…..there is an Army expression related to “At ease” – “stand down”.
iacisrmmaParticipantGather an army of munchkins?
iacisrmmaParticipantAccepted kula – to eat gebrokts.
Accepted chumra – not to eat gebrokts. (probably started within the last 300 years)
iacisrmmaParticipantCall and ask them! If they don’t they will tell you.

November 15, 2017 7:09 am at 7:09 am in reply to: Proper etiquette for bochor speaking to girl’s parents #1403926iacisrmmaParticipantIt is not often I agree with Joseph but here I do agree.
Funnybone: In my experience, whether now as the parent or years ago as the bochur, proper etiquette was/is…..there was/is none. Some bochurim eat, some don’t.
iacisrmmaParticipantIt was not studied in my yeshiva days which was 40 years ago. From what I recall, the language used by the RAMBAM was very difficult to translate and therefore yeshivos shied away from it.

November 14, 2017 6:02 pm at 6:02 pm in reply to: Are you a tall guy? What’s it like to be a tall guy? #1403827iacisrmmaParticipantDepends on the cemetery. I was in a Funeral home about 20 years ago and they had to bury someone 6′ 9” and the plot was to small.
iacisrmmaParticipantNot everybody thinks that chassidishah hashgachos have “high standards”. Many of those same hashgachos rely on the OU/Star-K/OK/Chaf-K mashgiach who is local to that area. Very rarely do you see such hashgachos on private establishments in areas with smaller frum populations.
iacisrmmaParticipantHow about honesty? Ma (Mommy, Imah, Mother), I am in the middle of washing the dishes and it is difficult for me to hear you with the water running. Is it ok if I call you back in 15 minutes?
iacisrmmaParticipantI have been buying and eating kosher candy canes for years.

November 14, 2017 11:48 am at 11:48 am in reply to: Saying Mashiv HaRuach in the Southern Hemisphere #1402735iacisrmmaParticipantThere are different shittos what to do in the southern hemisphere (and differences between South America and Australia). However, many agree that once the chachamin set the zman for Bavel we don’t change
it. Many seem to say that regions in the Southern Hemisphere say Morid Hatal all year, Vsein Brocha all year but if rain is needed, say Vsayn Tal Umatar in Shema Koleinu.See BETZEL HACHACHMAH Chelek Vav Siman Pay hay (85)

November 13, 2017 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm in reply to: Saying Mashiv HaRuach in the Southern Hemisphere #1402381iacisrmmaParticipantubiquitin: You are still missing my main point. We are not asking for rain by saying Mashiv Haruach; we are only recognizing Hashem’s power to bring winds and rain, not asking for rain. We in NY do not ask for rain until December 4th or 5th (Vsayn Tal Umatar is asking for rain which is why EY starts saying it on Zayin Marcheshvan).
November 13, 2017 1:57 pm at 1:57 pm in reply to: Saying Mashiv HaRuach in the Southern Hemisphere #1402240iacisrmmaParticipantI forwarded the question to Rabbi Dovid Heber (author of Shaarei Zmanim) and he responded:
“Chazal were missaken for the seasons of Bavel and the entire goleh followed. For vsayn tal umatar, some sheetos say one should recite it in Shema Kolainu when residing in a place that is dif like the Southern Hemisphere.”
November 13, 2017 10:58 am at 10:58 am in reply to: Saying Mashiv HaRuach in the Southern Hemisphere #1402091iacisrmmaParticipantMashiv Haruach is not a tefilla for rain. We are “remembering” (or maybe mentioning is a better translation) HKBH’s power to bring wind and rain. See the “title” to SA: Siman KUF YUD DALED:

iacisrmmaParticipantLakewood is not “IHR HAKODESH”. That designation is strictly for YERUSHALAYIM. Lakewood has been called IHR HATORAH.
iacisrmmaParticipantOnce you use a Mac you don’t go back.
iacisrmmaParticipant“a sentece will” – should be “sentence”
“driving priviledge” – should be privilege
“adgournment” – should be “adjournment”
“premitted” – should be “permitted”
Maybe they’ll reduce the fine for correcting their spelling mistakes.

November 10, 2017 10:56 am at 10:56 am in reply to: Proper etiquette for bochor speaking to girl’s parents #1400996iacisrmmaParticipantBack when I was dating 30 years ago, we had the same question. Some guys did; some didn’t. However, I do suggest for the girl’s parents, especially if the boy just traveled from Lakewood, ask if he needs to use the lavatory. That may be more important then the candy, fruit or soda.
November 10, 2017 1:03 am at 1:03 am in reply to: Why didn’t YWN report on the girls’ asifa today? #1400933iacisrmmaParticipantTAG’s IRS application as a non-profit was approved in 2011. (as reported by the guidestar website).
November 9, 2017 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm in reply to: Why didn’t YWN report on the girls’ asifa today? #1400779iacisrmmaParticipantJoseph: Actually, TAG was established in 2011, 1 year prior in to the Asifa. It was not a direct offshoot.
iacisrmmaParticipantjdb: Please explain what you mean by ” stretch the boundaries of hetariem”.
November 9, 2017 11:30 am at 11:30 am in reply to: Why didn’t YWN report on the girls’ asifa today? #1399630iacisrmmaParticipantMaybe because nobody reported it or thought of advertising it on YWN. If you know so much about it, why not write the article and submit it.
