to the OP: not a question if they can “stay open” but will they allowed to open? or will stay at home restrictions still be in effect?
iacisrmmaParticipantFrumroshr\yeshiva: Did you actually write these words and expect to be taken seriously “We need to find a mehalech somehow to avoid and circumvent the government regulations to” when most poskim are telling us not to do this for minyanim, levayos and chasunahs?
iacisrmmaParticipantToo early to know.
iacisrmmaParticipantYes it is discussed with an important caveat ” Moist rye, one of the five major grains, would most certainly pose a concern of Chometz, and some have therefore cautioned against using such mushrooms on Pesach. On the other hand, most authorities do not consider this to be a problem.”
iacisrmmaParticipantClarification: Not everyone is machmir. I would like to know which Rabbi Blumenkrantz are you quoting?
iacisrmmaParticipantMillhouse: Another Rov in my nieghborhood paskened like my LOR. Here is what he wrote to his kehilla
“If one has the minhag of saying Hallel on the first two nights of yom tov after ma’ariv, one can certainly do so without a bracha. If one is generally loyal to chasidisheh minhagim wherein the saying of hallel is not just for pirsumei nisa but also represents inyanei kabala then there is room for saying it with a bracha as well. ”
I grew up in a Young Israel (ashkenaz) that said hallel both nights so I cant say t’s because of Inyanei Kabala. I hope you wont mind if I follow my LOR and the other rabbanim in my neighborhood.February 18, 2020 2:08 pm at 2:08 pm in reply to: Did Rav Shmuel Kaminetzky write the Dirshu article in last week’s publications #1832872iacisrmmaParticipantRabbi Kaminetzky has written many columns for the Yated. Is this the first time you noticed the byline?
iacisrmmaParticipantMZ: The same SHAS that the Aguda celebrated on Jan 1 2020
February 4, 2020 3:55 pm at 3:55 pm in reply to: Issuing calls for Tehillim when it’s (almost) too late. #1828898iacisrmmaParticipantKollelman: I heard the same thing from the Naroler Rebbe (R Beirish Shapiro Shlita) when a member of my family was placed on a respirator. I can remember his words verbatim “The Ran says that there comes a time when one is allowed to start davening for the other way”
February 4, 2020 1:58 pm at 1:58 pm in reply to: Issuing calls for Tehillim when it’s (almost) too late. #1828817iacisrmmaParticipantIt is well know that R Moshe Feinstein and the Talmidim of MTJ were davening for R Aharon Kotler in the final stages of his illness, even on the day of his petirah. A bochur came in with besurah rah that R’ Aharon was niftar, R’ Moshe asked him if it was over and he was told yes. It would seem from this that R’ Moshe disagreed with R’ Shlomo Zalman.

Like it or not once you hit the submit button you are open to any sort of criticism.
If the moderators thought it was out of line they would have not approved it.iacisrmmaParticipantGAv: Manchester as in New Hampshire USA or Manchester as in the United Kingdom?

January 22, 2020 11:51 am at 11:51 am in reply to: Are public displays of Frum support of Trump a safe thing? #1825122iacisrmmaParticipantMaybe not in the front of CTLAWYER.
January 22, 2020 11:51 am at 11:51 am in reply to: Why do many people in Lakewood drive way to fast? #1825125iacisrmmaParticipantSame question can be asked in Boro Park and Flatbush.
iacisrmmaParticipantHamburger is nothing without a pickle (dill or bread & butter)
GH: I dont know if you realize this but with modern shipping “out of season” is virtually non existent.
iacisrmmaParticipantWell Jackk: I see you have swallowed the democrats kool-aid……The transcript states that President Tump asked “Do us a favor” not do me a favor. How is this a persecution of a political rival? Biden is obviously a crooked politician who reaped every benefit from his political positions.
iacisrmmaParticipant1: And your basis for saying so? I made my comments based on what I recall from during that time period.
iacisrmmaParticipantYG18: What is missing from the linked article is a time reference. Are they referring to the New York Based founder and leader of the JDL (1960’s) or the Israeli based founder of the kach party (1970”s) or as a Member of Knesset (1980’s) until he was assassinated. Many of the NY based Rabbanim only held of him when he was in EY defending the decisions of the State of Israel against the world not when he was living in the NY and heading the JDL.
iacisrmmaParticipantRebbeDebbie: Rabbi Avi Weiss actually provides your answer. He did receive semicha before his open orthodoxy revolution.
iacisrmmaParticipantMaybe because the amount of the settlement was not announced.

December 18, 2019 4:20 pm at 4:20 pm in reply to: Applesauce on latkes is better than sour cream: Prove me wrong. #1812060iacisrmmaParticipantBanjobob: Proof positive. Boruch Hashem I am living and breathing and never tasted nor wanted to taste latkes with melted cheese and ketchup.
iacisrmmaParticipantYA: The same can be said about threads you have started.
iacisrmmaParticipantYA: According to sefardim; not according to the ashkenazim.
iacisrmmaParticipantReb Eliezer: you wrote “Even among ashkanazim the kittel is hidden under the coat? not always so. if the chosson dons the kittel under the chuppah he generally does not put a coat on over it.
iacisrmmaParticipantYA: What Mustard do you think it was referring to? our mustard? or mustard in its original form which is a seed that is ground into powder similar to sesame seeds. Just like sesame seeds were included so was mustard seeds.
iacisrmmaParticipantDave and busters, miniature golfing
December 1, 2019 5:02 pm at 5:02 pm in reply to: Does a Divorce indicate a Family lacked Shalom Bayis? #1806457iacisrmmaParticipantjoseph: My first impulse is to look at the most recent post not the OP.
iacisrmmaParticipantIMHO, its both. Many times you have a shaddchan who is matching up two pieces of paper without knowing the individuals. We also have situations where the parents want one type of shidduch and their son or daughter want another. And yes the disposable society mentality doesnt help.I dont remember myself or my friends (we were all married between 1984 and 1990) needing “dating prep” or shidduch forums or ask the shaddchan forums. We were allowed to set up the dates ourselves without needing the shaddchan do it for us.
December 1, 2019 1:37 pm at 1:37 pm in reply to: Important shidduch questions during hannukah! #1806241iacisrmmaParticipantIn my family, the women lit. My wife’s family they didn’t. The question never came up,
December 1, 2019 1:37 pm at 1:37 pm in reply to: Does a Divorce indicate a Family lacked Shalom Bayis? #1806240iacisrmmaParticipantTo those who are new to the CR please add the word “bump” to your reply to let us oldtimers know you are commenting on a long dormant discussion. It is east to tell as the replies are date stamped.
November 30, 2019 10:35 pm at 10:35 pm in reply to: How should one protest against shmoozers during davening? #1806036iacisrmmaParticipantWow a discussion from 2012 that had no additions in 7 years gets bumped with a link to a 2018 thread and a suggestion to try another shul. Maybe someone should rethink about bumping dormant threads.
iacisrmmaParticipantrebbeDebbie: Please do not denigrate the role of ArtSroll in the proliferation of the learning of the Daf, a point specifically mentioned by the noviminsker rebbe at the 11th siyum in 1985 when he stated “that we have to recognize the role of the shottenstein edition of the SHAS that has come to assist and quench the thirst of those who wish to drink from the wellsprings of the torah”.
November 24, 2019 4:36 pm at 4:36 pm in reply to: Should frum yidden remove all plants from the home during the month of december? #1803805iacisrmmaParticipantI have never heard of such a chumra.
iacisrmmaParticipanti dont see anyone YELLING which in forums like this means typing in uppercase. Many threads are bizarre but some are not. This one starts off with a premise that about Ethiopian Jews without any any idea if there is even an ethiopian jewish community in the tri-state area.
iacisrmmaParticipantdirshuworldsiyum dot org lists a contact phone number.
iacisrmmaParticipantonce again, can you provide the exact vtl section the officer wrote on the violation? that may help us try to advise you.
iacisrmmaParticipantThe law is the same whether there is a divide or not. oncoming traffic is traffic flowing in the opposite direction.
iacisrmmaParticipantI married into a family from YI of Pelham Parkway. Moshe Teleshevsky A”H was already the chazzan.
iacisrmmaParticipantBenephraim: Although Rabbi Rubin was not a chazzan he did have a beautiful singing voice and would come to the bimah during Neilah to recite and lead the congregants in reciting the Pizmon of Hashem Hashem. Even though it has been 18 years since his petirah his emotion in saying the pizmon still rings in my ears.
iacisrmmaParticipantGH: one of the reasons I saw is that on there is a minhag to eat stuffed cabbage on Hoshana Rabbah because be say KOL MEVASER MEVASER V’OMER. Kohl is german for cabbage and we then cook it in water (play on the words to say in yiddish kohl mit vasser)
iacisrmmaParticipantNot that I know of but there are mikvahs that are not as crowded as others. Known crowded mikvahs Boston, Rabbi Sekula.
iacisrmmaParticipantIMHO, the second story about callig a soldier a “shiksa”.
iacisrmmaParticipantHow big is the car? a 21 passenger van could take up two spots.
iacisrmmaParticipantIf the driver is in the car and you need the space, you can ask him/her to move. If not, why not let them stay there for a few minutes?
iacisrmmaParticipantOnce again, why was this old thread bumped in the first place?
To some people height is important to others, not. to me it wasn’t an issue.
iacisrmmaParticipantWhy should he work hard for so little reward? If there is more money to be made in nonfiction let them write non-fiction.
iacisrmmaParticipantIt was Tea and crumpets time!!!!
iacisrmmaParticipantOn the “D” train on my way to the city.
