Busses are a form of affection. Buses are a form of transportation.
hujuParticipantTo Sam Klein: Golem existed long before teleprompters. Think before you post, especially when you’re just making it up.
hujuParticipantSupply and demand set price. All the jive about costs affects profitability.
hujuParticipantTo yechiel: 43, but I am optimistic.

June 19, 2023 10:28 am at 10:28 am in reply to: Bridging the Gap Between The Torah World and MO #2201185hujuParticipantIn addition to bridging the gap with MO, we need to bridge the gap with Larry, Curly and Shemp.
hujuParticipantTo CTLawyer: Yes, Trump was a Democrat some years ago. I believe his choice was based on his need to have favorable relations with the political forces that control real estate rules in New York City and New York State.
hujuParticipantTo always asks: it sounds like you are proposing something I have been proposing for years, i.e., frum Jews enrolling in public schools for secular education, and teaching Torah in separate schools. It is plausible in NYC public schools because of of laws that allow “pullouts” of kids for religious training, and because dumping all yeshiva kids in public schools would overwhelm the public schools.
hujuParticipantTo ujm: Pol Pot spelled backwards is Top Lop.
hujuParticipantTo Neville Chaim Berlin: A “free market ” for liquor is an oxymoron. Liquor sales have been restricted since at least the Middle Ages.
hujuParticipantWhat is this thread really about? What is the hidden agenda? Is there a hidden agenda? Because there is no such thing as too much cheesecake.
hujuParticipantWell, only nOnesorah answered my question. Some others had worthwhile comments. The correct answer is as follows: No, a law (federal, state or local) requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments is not good for the Jews. Among other things, such a requirement violates the establishment clause of the US constitution. And it would set a precedent requiring the posting other laws , e.g., accepting a savior, accepting a single prophet, and lots of other things that violate, or are contrary to the teachings of, the Torah. So, no, a legal requirement to post the Ten Commandments would not be good for the Jews.
May 30, 2023 10:27 am at 10:27 am in reply to: Chabad Inspires all Jews to Yearn for Mashiach #2193946hujuParticipantI believe the fundamental mission of Chabad shluchim is to have non-observant Jews do more mitzvos, whether it’s putting on tefillin or praying for Moshiach to come. In fact, whenever I see shluchim on patrol, they ask men about tefillin, women about lighting Shabbos candles. I don’t think they have ever mentioned Moshiach directly.
As for believing the 7th Lubavitcher Rebbe is Moshiach: Among the oldest Chabadniks, some do believe that, but among the younger, i.e., under 60, most accept that the Rebbe did die and therefore cannot be Moshiach. I think the younger Chabadniks are waiting for the Rebbe’s generation to go to the Next World before accepting an 8th rebbe. Caveat: these are my opinions based on conversations with many Chabadniks. None of the have said exactly what I just wrote.

hujuParticipantI don’t know who is the current owner of Adidas, but one of its founders, in 1936, was a member of the Nazi Party. He made the track shoes. He also made the track shoes for Jesse Owen’s, who was referred to as “the Schwartz American” by the announcer at the 1936 Olympics, which Hitler wanted to showcase his theory of German racial superiority.
hujuParticipantTo akuperma: Why could a frum Yid not have “the right stuff,” even without training on Shabbos. Anti-semites share your opinion that frum and other Yids are weenies, notwithstanding the triumphs of the IDF.
hujuParticipantTo ujm: I think you are kidding. Your comment is as funny as the one about Jews making matzoh with the blood of gentile children.
To the Mods: I suggest you take down ujm’s comment, and if take my suggestion, you can also take down my comment.
hujuParticipantPresident Truman had the best advice about dogs: If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.
hujuParticipantI thought Shabbos dips was a popular dance in the 1940’s and 50’s.
hujuParticipantTrump’s age is not the problem. It is his rank, overwhelming stupidity.
hujuParticipantWhen I hear or read “King Charles”, the next thought that comes to my mind is “Spaniel.” When I hear or read the world “Queen”, I think of that guy who sings “We are the champions”. And when I hear the word “Royal”, the next thing I think of is, “Flush”.
hujuParticipantI know a Reform Jewish physicist who thinks Lag Baomer is the Hebrew word for Doppler effect.
hujuParticipantI am not sure this is responsive to the opening question, but I am pretty sure a Breeblebox is where people keep their Breebles.

hujuParticipantI hate spellcheck. Brochures vs. Bachurs.
hujuParticipantIf you look at photographs of frum people that were taken 50 years ago, you will see that frum attire has evolved. Hats were smaller, shoes were wing-tipped, suits were differently tailored, and men were thinner. When deciding how to dress, go back to the mitzvahs and authoritative rabbis, not the brochures and yentas.
hujuParticipantAnti-bacterial?
hujuParticipantPlaying doctor on line? Doesn’t work.
hujuParticipantI am too tired to fully respond to your comment, so for now, I will say that you have have completely missed the point. Plastic bags are not proper clothing for anyone.
hujuParticipantFirst of all, let me clarify my Brooks Brothers recommendation. It’s great if you have money to burn, but if you don’t, look for something more price-competitive.
Second, Joseph’s guidance is good, but it needs this caveat: The suit should fit, the shirt should be tucked in, and when it rains, do not put a plastic bag on your black hat to protect it. Black felt is naturally water-resistant and will be fine when the rain stops. You will not learn this by observing the bochurim going in and out of yeshivas.
Halachic question: How disheveled does a bochur have to be to be committing a sin against the Halachic dress code?
hujuParticipantTo fakenews: Are you just trying to show off how well you learned 3rd grade arithmetic?
hujuParticipantI don’t live in Israel so I did not “vote” in the poll. Some of my Israeli mishpachah are tired of Bibi and do not support his proposal. Democracy requires ground rules and an independent judiciary to apply and interpret them.
hujuParticipantTo Gadolha: Maybe I am not as smart as I think. Is the last sentence of your comment about skipping college sarcastic?
hujuParticipantTo jackk: One correction re those people who went to jail – they went because they committed crimes, not because they were connected with Trump.
hujuParticipantHow much you got?
hujuParticipantHow about THE NYPD Jewish chaplain? 2 birds, 1 stone.
hujuParticipantTo the opening poster: Please learn that the plural of violin is spelled “violins”. Very few teens can play the violin well enough to play it in public. The others should stop.
hujuParticipantTo coffee addict: Some chesed traditions are out of date. Certainly in New York, kosher food is available, And some patients need special diets, e.g., free of salt and certain spices, or fat
hujuParticipantIf the opening poster asks this question at the end of Purim, the answer should be, “Everybody.”
hujuParticipantLakewhut and I agree. Mark your calendars, or celebrate with one or two drinks, but no more.

hujuParticipantThe college that gave you an accounting degree probably has a career or placement office that can give you better career advice than us yentas on YWN.
hujuParticipantI won’t get drunk when I am bicycling.
hujuParticipantDon’t mind me has nicely and precisely settled the issue.
hujuParticipantTo ujm: I have always believed that the term “JAP,” when referring to a Jewish woman, is offensive for a number of reasons. First of all, it is also a word used during World War II to refer to one of America’s enemies, and it was generally meant to be offensive to all Japanese, including Japanese Americans put into American concentration camps.
More generally, it sterotypes Jewish women and adolescents as privileged and spoiled. Some of them are, many are not, but “JAP” smears them all. If you and/or your acquaintances use “JAP” as often as your post implies, you are doing a disservice to Jewish women.
I once heard a Reform rabbi speak extensively about the wrongness of the term “JAP”, so, evidently, the Reform Jews get it, even if holy Jews like you do not.
“JAP” is, among other things, loshon hara.
