hudiParticipant
I heard that the thing with the nails applies to all women, but pregnant women are especially careful, because their baby can be harmed. I heard there is a connection to Adam and Chava before the cheit. Their entire bodies were covered with a layer of nail like material. And after Chava gave Adam the fruit and they sinned, most of the nail covering came off and only remained on the fingertips and toes. Chavah was blamed for this, so all women who are decended from her, can “remind” Hashem or the satan or whoever when they step on a nail, who can be mekatreig against them.
Has anyone else heard this? Please correct me if I’m wrong.
hudiParticipantIs it just me, or do I detect a hint of sarcasm?
hudiParticipantWIY thanks for clarifying what you think. And I totally agree that actions are what is needed.
hudiParticipantI think in HS, so they can at least practice with it and know how to use it.
hudiParticipantAnother name
I am having too much confrontation with you. I hear your side and will consider what you have to say. Let’s leave it there.
hudiParticipantAnother name – The smily face is enough for me.
hudiParticipantI just remember this generally from studying, not specific drugs. And I’m not talking about a specific class either. I am actually going back to my pharm book to find an example for you.
Example – CCB – suffix = -dipine. Exceptions: Diltiazem and Verapamil
Example – alpha blockers – suffix = -zosin. Exceptions: Tamulosin and Silodosin.
You’re right, there are none that I know of in the beta blockers.
hudiParticipantYes it would be overstepping the boundaries of tznius to ask the frum guys.
Pick a refined non-jewish girl (if you have those). You can identify the refined ones by their speech (they do not curse) and their dress (no low necklines).
Non-jews are not a different species of people, as I was shocked to find when I started college, straight out of seminary. They have personalities just like we do, and you might even identify with them and even (shocker) like them. However, it’s still important to keep a healthy distance.
hudiParticipantI care! But I still think that tefillah should not be understated. Tefillah is in replace of the karbanos, which were used to atone for aveiros.
hudiParticipantAnother name
I don’t know who you think I am, but if you were to see me, you would see a very a tzanua individual.
I don’t want anyone to get the idea that I am not a tznius person and I don’t know halacha based on the fact that I have questions about grey areas. I have read tznius halacha books many times and am very aware of halacha.
I’m not ashamed of wanting to follow halacha. Quite the contrary, I’m asking these questions because I want to follow halacha more closely.
hudiParticipantTCM includes about herbal remedies, accupuncture, accupressure, moxibustion, cupping, qui gong (exercise patterns).
Anything that goes into your mouth, should be run by your doctor.
Accupuncture is pretty safe, just make sure you go to a certified person, an MD is best. And make sure the needles are unused and clean.
Cupping is very dangerous, you can get 2nd or 3rd degree burns from it.
There was an article in a Mishpacha supplement – i think the kolmus from pesach – about the avoda zara nature about some of these alternative therapies. Best to be 100% sure about them. Quigong might be under this category.

hudiParticipantReal Brisker- Does my question about how much eye makeup is acceptable cause hirhur? Anyone who has a problem with questions like those should stay away from tznius threads.
Flowers – I think the men know it best. Women can only know what men tell them and they can never fully understand how men think and view things.
Please do not making assumptions about me, especially if you don’t know me and you have never met me!
Another name – I am not talking about clear cut halacha here. You said it yourself – these are gray areas. In my question about the eye makeup, I have the basic understanding that there can be problems, that women should not dress to attracting – that is the halacha. My question is about application. I am not asking my Rav – it is way too awkward.
Flowers – I would for sure tell her to the best of my ability what I think. Tznius and fixing washing machines are both parts of life. And as Adorable and others have pointed out, this is an online forum. The people I ask questions do will probably never meet me and they have no clue what I look like. They don’t even know where I live, how old I am, or where I went to school.
hudiParticipantyentingyenta – I’m still in school, but done with pharm class forever 🙂
And for the record, there are plenty of exceptions to the suffix rule.
hudiParticipantI also had that book in school! way too much info.
I think to study read the chapter summaries and study your powerpoints if you’re lucky enough to have them.
One book that is helpful and is not a big heavy text book is Pharmacology from the Reviews and Rationales series by someone Hogan. You can find it on amazon. I found that Pharmacology Made Incredibly Easy dumbs it down too much.
To memorize it helps to know the categories of drugs and each categoires suffix.
hudiParticipantOnce you have reached the pit, it can only get better from there.
hudiParticipantlol deiyezooger. I was about to say trash.
hudiParticipantI agree with WIY. I personally have very specific questions about what men are attracted to, that are more complex than the basic laws of halacha. I do not feel comfortable asking my brother what’s is considered not tznius. I’m not married, so I can’t ask my husband. I am most definitely not asking my father or rav. Therefore, anonymous forums serve a great purpose.
hudiParticipantMazel Tov!!!!!
hudiParticipantI think that nurse practitioners have more autonomy. Also, along the way, you can work as a nurse.
hudiParticipantIf “sane” means at least half way mature, than it’s possible.
hudiParticipantIf I was an informed non-Jew I would know that same gender “marriage” falls under gillui arayos.
hudiParticipantMen –
What is considered too much makeup? I generally use natural makeup, but sometimes for weddings I’ll dress up my eyes a little more.
hudiParticipantIt could be not seeing the good in others/only focusing on the bad. If you don’t value people, then you may think that you are better than others.
hudiParticipantpac-man – as some other people pointed out, the cost of living is much lower in other places. So even if salaries are 5-10k a year lower in places outside of NY, it’s still very worthit.
The Wolf – I can completely understand that. We have lots of family living in NY, and it would be a great help to everyone if we lived there too.
gavra – kollel pays better, so if your parents are paying rent for you, then good. But if you are paying your own rent for an apartment, rent is lower outside of NYC. I guess in that situation, it depends who is picking up the tab.
aries – you have made some very important points. I definitely think people consider this, but I feel like they don’t want to go out of their comfort zone, when it comes down to living out of town.
hudiParticipantBenK – Are you looking for opportunities outside of flatbush? Maybe you should consider moving out of town.
hudiParticipantIf asked directly I think you should answer the question honestly with the least amount of detail possible. Otherwise, I don’t think you have to offer up information unless illness or criminal history is involved.
hudiParticipantTwo places to go: the burnt house museum in yerushalayim and the coca cola factory in bnei brak. Also, Ir david.
hudiParticipantThe tofutti cream cheese website has wonderful cheesecake recipes. Try them!
hudiParticipantshadshad – I think you are mistaken about electronic cigarettes. They do have negative health effects.
I think you can buy the person a nicotine patch so they can use it when they have a really bad craving.
hudiParticipantbochur 1818
There is nothing wrong with wearing a black hat. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. If you want to wear it, then wear it.
If your father doesn’t object to wearing the hat, you can wear it. If he thinks it’s “silly” explain to him why it’s important to you. Don’t feel like you shouldn’t do what you desire (as long as it’s 100% ok) because another person may think less of you.
hudiParticipantA cow being shechted.

I know of a couple. University of cincinnati, grand canyon, university of the southwest, university of nebraska kearney. I have a friend who is doing grand canyon.
hudiParticipantWow. Thanks for sharing!
hudiParticipantI think its a great outlet for boys during bein hazmanim. They need a break!

hudiParticipantHa Ha I did that to myself in like 7th grade 🙂 Penciling worked for me.
hudiParticipantWas her name written in Hebrew?
hudiParticipantI don’t have any personal experience with this, but I know people who have used HGH, and I’ve learned about it.
Have you found your daughters estimated height? You can find it by adding your height and your husbands height in inches, then
subtract 5 inches, and and divide by two. Most people reach their adult height within 4 inches of this estimate.
Your daughter still has plenty of time to grow, so don’t be worried if she’s not within 4 inches.
HGH in small amounts, in children, from what I’ve heard, is not harmful. Because your daughter is 13, even if she did get the injections, she would only gain maybe 1 or 2 inches from the HGH.
However, if she is perfectly happy, popular, kind, and smart there is really no reason to be worried that her height will affect her self esteem.
Hatzlacha
hudiParticipantI’m probably repeating what other people mentioned, but I’ll repeat anyway 🙂 I think the best thing to do is push the thoughts out as they come, stop the action, and find good ways to spend your time. With time, you will heal. And teshuva is not a physical thing so it works in miraculous ways.
hudiParticipantHas anyone ever been to Loehmann’s. They have great stuff and lots of skirts!
hudiParticipantIf the family is close with their Rav, he might know.
hudiParticipantWomen were at Har Sinai with the men. So they, and their children, are Jewish.
hudiParticipantI think it’s #1.
Faith doesn’t involve absolute certainty about G-d’s future actions. It’s called “a leap of faith” What we do know absolutely is that G-d is capable of doing everything!
hudiParticipantKentucky State University has a special ed program that is completely online.

There are other places too.
hudiParticipantDo you think Obama will have better chance to be reelected?
hudiParticipantRedNails – LOL LOL 😀
hudiParticipantI would go for the plain looking guy who was sensitive to my feelings + the midda of anavah.
hudiParticipantI was in school when I heard about terrorist attacks. They didn’t tell us what was going on.
I was at home when I found out he was dead. I saw it on YWN last night at 11 pm.
hudiParticipantAnother option is that they want a person who will learn for as long as possible, who will stop learning when a parnassa is needed.
