i guess wearing it on shabbat only makes sense.

HrolfrMemberim guessing that it was a straw western hat, not a panama.
HrolfrMember^ what?
HrolfrMemberThere goes my precious topic. 🙁
This was supposed to be about charedim and straw hats. >_<
HrolfrMemberAlways happy to be of help.
HrolfrMember@syag lchochma – i’ll just go along with this for a bit. The straw used for panamas aren’t inexpensive. I intentionally used linen as the example because linen is closer than cheesecloth. in addition I think cheesecloth is translucent which kind of negates the point of a burka. On the other hand, (properly woven) straw is no more translucent than felt.
HrolfrMember@popa_bar_abba – not very convenient to keep leaving for australia every summer though. (since technically everywhere in the northern hemisphere is summer at the same time).
HrolfrMember@gavra_at_work – again, lol.
@syag lchochma – strictly speaking, that’s an inaccurate comparison. On the burka analogy would be more appropriate to compare switching from a woolen burka to a linen one. I’m not asking about wearing a hot pink felt fedora (yuck).
HrolfrMemberHrolfrMember@Tefillin Rabbi – In many cases there’s some amount of import tax for shipments that cost more than 300 USD or so, depending on the region. UPS/FedEx clears those for the recipient, and then collects the money upon delivery, whereas local mail generally holds the package at the local customs HQ, and requires you to make the payment yourself.
So in the case of tefillin, ranging to over a thousand, import tax is almost definitely going to be incurred in quite a number of countries.
HrolfrMember@ItcheSrulik – thank you for the advice (as well as the 3rd stamp of approval for hasofer I’ve received now).
You mentioned that Tefillin Beit El has free shipping, which explains why I saw no shipping charge anywhere which i thought would be calculated later or have some astronomical shipping cost. Do you happen to know how Tefillin Beitel ships? I know hasofer has a UPS option, which is great because it’s trackable + UPS will clear international customs, as opposed to local mail which requires me to do it myself.
HrolfrMember@zalman – even those sold by R’ Yerachmiel Askotzky, etc?
@yehudayona – No soferim in Scandinavia, as far as I know.
@dafyomi2711 – dont have much of a choice really.@WIY – a local sofer would be the first choice, if it were an option.

Funny how I prefer Sruly’s covers of all the songs to the originals lol. Something about his voice is just fantastic, imo.

I got Ashrei Mi and Ki Lo Yitosh off iTunes. You weren’t wrong regarding the last one.
And yeah, Sruly should release a studio-version as a Medley — I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
