May 23, 2013 10:55 pm at 10:55 pm in reply to: A non negative sounding alternative/synonym for disagreement? #954323Oh Shreck!Participant
Why in the world would you be asking ME? I’m not known to argue civilly.
1) I opine to differ
2) Might I state an opposing view
3) Would you consider
4) I respectfully beg to disagree
Oh Shreck!ParticipantOy, now the secret is out. Yes, it’s me. Just recently hired to the job. Problem is (they don’t know) I flunked in English…
Oh Shreck!Participant.. and the other half (ossur lehistakel) your conveniently forgot.
And just because you have not seen it doesn’t mean it’s not a Rebbishe minhag. Are you Rebbish? Have you been to all Rebbish chasunas? Actually I have not either, (I’m not Rebbish, they for some reason don’t personally extend their invitations to me), I have seen pictures / clips of countless Rebbish chasunas where the Kallah covers in the same manner.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantDid pba get a new signature?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantSyag, I was’t yelling Not even getting wild All keys on my keyboard still work (hey where’s the <period>, oops)
Oh Shreck!ParticipantAs Rabbi Miller ??”? says, ??? ??? ?????, you can tell a person from what he “praises”, or what gets him excited.
Nebach, a kallah covered her face modestly, so that in the myriads of men one shouldn’t gaze upon her, and the place here goes wild. NO – she was not mechuyav to, NOBODY forced her. OK? She, as a true Bas Yisroel felt and acted upon an inner calling to be more Tznuah. DOES ANYONE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THAT?!
Oh Shreck!ParticipantSam2: A woman can WRITE better than a man, an extension of ???? ????.
Oh Shreck!Participantmiritchka, No, you’re not like me. (1) You probably have only one username, I had one (at least) other. (2) You’re probably very serious, in real life too. (3) You probably know what your talking about, when you post.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantWe need special Brooklyn cars. Sound proof body (blocks all other’s honking and “music”). Fifteen foghorns to be used .005 seconds before light turns green. Fortified steel fenders, bumpers.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantInterjection, mind you I did reply something yesterday to crisisoftheweek, who told me “my understanding of human nature is laughable”.
So it was cute little me who started this whole thingy. Inadvertently. I only used it as an allegory, in passing. I had no need really to continue on this needless argument.
As I wrote, I did respond, I prefaced it with writing that it’s not really a tznius subject to subject out chosheve readers to. I wrote some ???? ?????, only some beginnings of a few issues. Ended again writing that I had no need to continue this un-tznius topic. MOD edited it, subsequently deleted it entirely, saying even that was a bit too much. In a way I’m happy to know there are moderators here who will not let too much garbage through.
But a bit you’re obviously allowed to know. A female cannot and will NEVER, EVER grasp the nisyonos of the other side. She’d have to be male (with all accessories) for that.
Cannot and will not elaborate.
One more point (I hope mod let’s it in) HaShem gave us a fiery holy Torah as a tavlin to battle a most fiery fleshy yetzer.
And yes, someone who truly conquers his yetzer horah – ???? ???? ??!!
Oh Shreck!ParticipantOh, you’re “talking” to me? Yes or no what? To Register? I’d rather not have my username added to your s/n signature every time you post something. Sometimes, just sometimes, I don’t like standing out. ???? ???.. Sometimes I like the quiet.. (It’s the other times that’s the problem!)
And besides, which screen name would I register?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantNo. No more questions. I have enough (actually more than enough) with one screen name. I am one person, one personality, with different moods though. At the beginning I must admit I had another s/n reserved for times when I’d be in a another mood, I dropped it, knowing that all people have different times / moods / frame of mind. And while some times maybe I’d be seeking “attention”, I have no need to drive people buggy. And in the situation of an (civil, tamed, courteous) argument, it would also serve no purpose. I can always post another reason / argument under the same name.
I have no problem being here as long as I nobody knows my identity.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantPBA, You did respond, not in plain English though (ok, Coffee Room for Dummies).
What’s a sock puppet? What’s a posting session?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantCould anyone tell me (Ok, I’d prefer write) what this is all about.
Simple English, please.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantShouldn’t there be more to davening than a “performance”.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantHow does one say ??? ???? in the German dialect?
May 21, 2013 5:28 am at 5:28 am in reply to: Ten things your teenage babysitter wishes you knew #1098611Oh Shreck!ParticipantWhy are all the babysitters telling ME what to do? I haven’t even thought of calling one.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantHurray! Now that I have this whole discussion for myself, why not take advantage?
And I dare say it is not a moot question. It sheds light on our approach to Avodas HaShem. I hear your concern, yet I disagree. Men make a Brocha in the Morning Shelo asani goy, eved isha. Let’s take isha, for instance. Don’t you think it is so much better to be an isha, less mitzvohs to be worried about. An entire huge Yetzer hora wrapped up and done with. They’re spiritually so much safer than men. So what’s so “LUCKY” about being man (spiritually). So much to worry about. ??? ?? ?????? ??? ?? ?????. How many men truly “make it to the top”?
And the answer to this is that surely it comes with a great responsibility. But it’s SO WORTH IT. UN-COMPARABLE! When one conquers one’s burning yetzer to submit to ratzon Hashem, what rapture, pleasure, utter nachas he gives HaShem. That is the essence of those three brachos, to be ????? ????? in the maximum amount of mitzvhos possible.
So your answwer would likely be to one who knew nothing about Yiddishkeit from the inside, a newcomer who would want to join. But for one who has lived his life (albeit erroneously) as a practicing Jew, his inner being would want to remain.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantWolfish, I do remember that thread.
Whatever was written there, you must admit there’s a huge difference between someone (ok maybe a bit selfishly) trying to daven more sincerely, with more kavana, devotion, feeling and thereby “loosing himself”, to that of the lightheaded shmoozers and scoffers.
The vibes of one sincerely in prayer won’t ruin you neshama, while association to the other group will. ??? ???? ???? ??????.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantMusser Zoger:
I’m not the one to Zug Mussar, a shame you didn’t read my earlier post.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantRebbie Yussel:
Seforim too numerous to mention specify and outline the gravity of this sin. Sorry it’s not the end of the world to you. ?????? etc. is not by every other aveira. I’m not so knowledgeable in Halacha and Talmud, I’ll just suppose it’s a real grave offense.
And you’re EQUALLY annoyed by another person’s davening!! To you they’re equal? One is talking to his creator, the other is laughing to His face, and to you they’re equal?!?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantBaruch HaShem, in the Kehilla where I daven, most are sincere about Davening. Absolutely no talking is allowed from beginning to end. I thank HaShem for such an opportunity. I get to realize the great benefit of such a place, from the times I do find myself in another Shul.
Some places are REALLY a shanda! In one corner the chazzan is trying to come across with shiros vtishbachos to HaShem, in another corner (????? ?????), they’re socializing, shmoozing, laughing. Such chutzpah towards HaShem!! And sometimes the Chazzan, congregation cannot even compete!
More disconcerting is that when the Rav gets up to speak, or someone “makes an appeal”, all of a sudden the place gets hushed, quiet. THE GALL!! More respect for mortals than for their Creator?!? ?? ????? ?? ????? ??? ???? ??? ??? ??????!
Oh Shreck!ParticipantWIY: I’m not a posek, (surely not if I found out I’m a non-Jew!), so it appears. No, a non Jew can bring a Korban anywhere, it should preferably be with all brand-new utensils. There’s a gemarah somewhere about it, if I’m not mistaken.
DaMoshe: I’m writing about something a non-Jew can do – but not a Jew. Jews are also included in those seven.
One more thing, DaMoshe, you write that a non Jew who follows the seven laws and leads a good life can also get a share in the next world. Yes that is true. BUT IT DOES NOT COMPARE TO ONE HOUR OF LIVING A JEWISH LIFE, here on this world. ??? ??? ??? ?????? ?????? ????? ????? ???, ??? ??? ????? ???. How much more so in the afterlife. No, not comparable. – ??????? ?? ????? ??? ???? ?????!!
That is actually a message we should strive to internalize. How precious and dear it is TO US, to HaShem, every minute we as Jews spend on doing Mitzvohs, Torah, teshuva, maasim tovim. Actually the life lived as a Jew in itself is so important. So important, it allows for desecrating Shabbos, just to prolong a Jewish life (even if unable to perform any mitzvhos).
Oh Shreck!ParticipantA mentch is considerate of others.
A mentch won’t hurt another purposefully. A mentch will go out of the way to assist another. A mentch won’t shame another, or sting with a nasty remark. A mentch will always have a good word, a genuine smile for another.
May 20, 2013 5:37 am at 5:37 am in reply to: Ten things your teenage babysitter wishes you knew #1098589Oh Shreck!ParticipantOy.
Are there any babysitters with good middos to be found??
Oh Shreck!ParticipantMe? I’d run and do the only mitzvah a Goy alone can do – bring and be makrev a real Korban to HaShem!
Then I’d head for beis din.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantCould not pass up the opportunity.
If not for this day, how many Josephs…
Oh Shreck!ParticipantSaysMe, You’re absolutely right about that.
And to MOD or Editor
You’re 100 percent right. It is your site, everything over here is exclusivity yours.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantDaas Yochid:
How did they post in ‘the heim’?
Oh Shreck!Participantand a good morning to anyone lucky enough to be alive today.
Smile.
Happy times are coming! (that’s a campaign promise <Kunda>)
Oh Shreck!ParticipantTo Mod or Editor
It wouldn’t hurt to post the Tefilah of the Sh’loh, to be said today.
it has been posted before. you can find it and bump it.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantLucky guys… You had supper..
I did what my grandfather did…
Oh Shreck!ParticipantThere’s a big difference between a sad, depressing tune and a deep, reflective, introspective one.
You don’t want to begin your life together on a note of melancholy.
May you share only Simchos with us.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantAtt: Mod or anyone duty
Did you find anything wrong, harmful with the piece I wrote about 1:30p? I have no complaints, I just want to know how you work. There was nothing more than elaborating on a piece of Gemarah, nothing else at all. Was it maybe the catchy heading? Nothing I could think of. Do all mods read and understand English?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantTo watch someone’s face brighten up from a compliment – that is sheer ??? ????.
I (try to) make a point to acknowledge the invisible custodian, the store / subway clerk, to greet with a genuine smile. They usually respond with a smile from ear to ear. Precious!
May 7, 2013 5:43 pm at 5:43 pm in reply to: Survey, How do you bring Joy of Torah and Mitzvos #951086Oh Shreck!Participantsm29
We don’t mitigate the physical aspect of the mitzvohs. There are halachos with intricate details one must follow. Each and every detail with all it’s aspect are all important. Yet we know and put an emphasis on WHY we’re doing it. To give nachas, pleasure to our Creator. We involve HaShem in all our endeavors, we talk about Him. ?? ???? ???? ????, Rabbi Miller ??”? says is an important part of Yiddishkeit, and the mesorah. Constantly talking about Him brings about an awareness about Him, brings Him and – naturally a joy to serve Him, into our’s and our children’s lives.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantMe?! Predictable. People tell me I’m predictably unpredictable.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantI’m sorry, most esteemed participants. I’m not into movies, novels, books etc. (In fact I don’t even know how to read.) So I hadn’t that thing in mind. I was just wondering why this place is winding down (or is it -#5)
Oh Shreck!Participanthaifagirl:
Screaming at someone for using ‘caps’ is Capital Punishment.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantDon’t do what I did (try to think )
OK, I won’t. Thinkorator safely powered down.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantYes, at once I was completely anonymous, it felt so good to be able to express my inner feelings freely to the world at large. Then one day I posted something that blew my cover, a relative who also posts here found me out. Not a happy day for me..
Oh Shreck!ParticipantJust wondering, if someone reaches and touches moon, is that a bad omen…
Oh Shreck!ParticipantThank you for your brochos. btw, don’t confuse me with shrek, that’s an entire different poster and personality. And I’m not so sure Popa wants anything to do with me either.
(My kittle secret – don’t tell anyone, deep, deep inside I’m not really a shreck at all.)
Oh Shreck!ParticipantHaleiVi:
Obviously you haven’t earned you masters in Jokeology yet.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantOh. How many did you start?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantNo. I won’t shout. I’ll wait patiently…
Oh Shreck!ParticipantMe too, please. Even without knowing too much about me. (leave it to Syag and OOM to do the detective work)
Oh Shreck!ParticipantTwo funs is ????.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantSend regards (second pair of guards) to Dr. Doomshtein.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantCool? The pool…
OK.
Making fire come out of water (I really did it)
Playing an instrument
Flying a real plane
Best of all:
