June 14, 2013 3:15 pm at 3:15 pm in reply to: The Government Is Monitoring Your Phonecalls and Internet Searches #958874Oh Shreck!ParticipantNo one at all sees what I’m writing. <Censored> No, no one at all. <Monitored> I’m sure they have more important things to do. Why do they need to <FBI> probe into my secret dealings with the <CIA> foreign <ZAP>
Oh Shreck!ParticipantI cannot fathom the responses here. If Halacha says one one has to act in a certain way, a Halacha – practicing Jew will act accordingly. Of course there are different shittos sometimes, and sometimes the Halacha is not well known. But when faced with the information that indeed something is forbidden, how does a halacha practicing Jew let emotions (gemutlichkeit) get in the way?!? Either you’re following HaShem’s Torah, halacha, or you’re following your own (hot off the press) code of values, virtues.
For the record, HaShem who was the inventor of mankind (womankind too), effected the Torah and everything it stands for. Nothing there one cannot do. (I forgot to add, He was ???? ?????? ????, he knew all the generations to come, including our modern era, and all it’s accessories)
btw zd, my Rav says to go to police.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantNo. Not at all. Just because we’re frum doesn’t mean we’re pushovers. There’s a polite manner to be firm and assertive. Acting gracefully is a Kidush HaShem.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantMods: Why are you so scared of approving my above post. ??? ?? ????. If the truth hurts, so it be. Are you r”l with THEM?!?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantTry Rabbi Klein. It’s a wonderful organization from the little I know, a lot of resources, professionals, etc. Tell them the nature of your matzav, I’m sure they’ll expedite matters. (tell ’em Oh Shreck! sent you, if that doesn’t scare them…)
Again, I know nothing about this sort of crisis you’re in, other then just knowing that I cannot fathom your extreme pain and anguish, torture and grief, feelings of anger and shame. It would be a lie to say I feel your pain, because I know I cannot. I know you’re suffering something beyond my comprehension. But we (us here in the CR) are here for you, to lend you a shoulder to cry on, to try to comfort you, ease your pain, to maybe assist you in any way possible.
Again, because of the nature of your crisis, it’s extremely important to know who to take advice from (actually it’s not that important who, it’s what advice to follow). Sometimes over-helpful individuals ???? ?????, in their eagerness to show support, consolation, etc., will offer advice detrimental to your particular case. Take every advice offered here (including this!) with a grain of salt. Don’t discard outright, just choose wisely. And get the professional assistance, guidance you deserve.
From my limited understanding of this nature it’s quite understandable that he’s not happy about himself, he’s into at-risk-type behavior, closed and secretive. It’s ALL for one reason, and that can be dealt with ?? ???? ??? quite effectively, through the aid of the various professionals out there.
May HaShem give you the strength and courage you need at this trying time. May you and your son, family, come out stronger than before.
Oh Shreck!Participantand I thought Monticello was the best country…
Oh Shreck!ParticipantThank you all for answering for me. I actually intended to write along those lines too, Sam2, Cinderella, JaneDoe18. How I hate all this fighting…
Oh Shreck!Participantfeminist:
OK, it is not at all obvious. Right. And me too, I wasn’t slandering them. Why did you feel the need to defend yourself or them? I’m really not against them. Sure. Show your work…
Kindly read their mission.. their sites.. THEIR FACES!! Sure, not so obvious. Truly high motivations by saying they’re another “perush” to Judaism. Ripping down the mesorah, tznius etc. And the chutzpah of it all to “claim” they’re doing it to come closer to HaShem.
And I was just waiting for that line “It is not for us to judge..”, “Only Hashem..” We are not judging them, we’re not sending them where they belong. We’re just doing what we have to do to keep our place clean. ????? ??? ?????. HaShem tells us to remove evil.
I was waiting for the other line (constantly reiterated by a certain group) “making ourselves feel superior”. NO, NO, and NO. Never. Maybe it’s how you assume our thoughts and feelings to be. For once I’ll call YOU out on that “SHOW YOUR WORK!!” We do what we have to, we go about our avodas HaShem the way handed down generation to generation, heeding our Gedolim. We have no need to “feel superior” to others (any “others”; the earliest xions, misyavnim, tzdukim,…reform,…and the latest “others” of the present modern day). If others see in us a “making ourselves feel superior”, perhaps the mechanism known as guilt / jealousy has been duly activated…
And besides, if they have a “new perush”, why do they choose the kosel built by an orthodox Jew?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantOomis, thank you, I think you write a lot clearer, much better.
Curiosity, thank you, too. (is that a line from me…?)
And to you truthsharer,
No, Oomis wrote clear, concise, tzum zach. Coming from a woman, she’s put it down really well.
What’s so “very dangerous to say that women should not do optional stuff”?
I’d say take their meshugas for instance. They’re coming to try and make you think they’re interested in doing “more”, Oh yeah. All the while disregarding the basic concepts of tznius. IN THE SAME ACT. That is the essence of ?? ??????, according to one explanation, because it will cause ??? ?????. If I’m the one making up the game, I can do as I see fit.
Now, of course I’m discussing where they’d be sincere about it, where they’re doing it totally the the Mitzvah, for the Kedusha, for HaShem’s sake. Oh Yeah! Totally! C’mon, face reality. As I wrote before, their obnoxious in-your-face untznius brazen pictures won’t make it into the Yeshiva World. FOR A REASON!
They’re not at all in it for the “kedusha”…And you know that.
Shaking a lulav for the mitzva’s sake will bring a woman closer to HaShem. Creating a matzav, a brazen spectacle, an affront to Yiddishkite, every month, at the place it hurts most, will not. Again, I suspect you know that too. (you do appear to be literate,, educated)
Shouldn’t a truthsharer be open-minded to some truth too?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantActually, I do. I’d rather not post it here, if Mods would permit I could somehow forward it (through them) to you privately.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantWhat if YOU decided on your own to put someone on. Does that poster have to confess?
What if one is long inactive? How long is long? (Or how short is short?)
Is there any favoritism?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantMy heart goes out to you. I don’t know where you’re located, this is not the proper place (obviously) to post or reveal facts or info. I’m not into this, but I do feel that it’s a lengthy process, things will come out slowly.. And there’s no quick fix.
There’s an excellent organization in Brooklyn called Toshia, they may be able to help. They can direct, steer, initiate services needed.
Whatever you do, Daven, we’re Davening for you.
Hatzlacha!!
Oh Shreck!ParticipantShopping, don’t take anything to heart. Nothing. Stay upbeat, cheerful. You can accomplish so much more when you’re in good spirits. <<Smile>>
Oh Shreck!ParticipantFeminist:
Oh Shreck!ParticipantFeminist
I’ll try, I mean it, I’ll really try hard to be civil.Thou their (your’s too?) goal APPARENTLY isn’t, a depraved in-your-face attitude, I’ll try to be courteous.
I find your first post most laughable. First you quote “As Women of the Wall, our central mission is to achieve the social and legal recognition of our right, as women, to wear prayer shawls…” Then you go on to say “Nothing in there about equality, integration…” Right on, it’s your special ‘right’ as a woman. Not to be equal, no. Yeah.
Next. “and read from the Torah collectively and out loud”. Sure thing, “Nothing in there about… or creating a spectacle”. Nope. Not at all.
Next. “at the Western Wall.”. But why?!? Couldn’t they do that in a bathroom? Why at the holiest site? Oh? Because they want to “feel” the kedusha. Sure. They dress (ok, undress) so prutzadig, most pictures of them won’t make it into the Yeshiva World, those boxes are pictured on the exposed portions of women’s upper arm, halachikly (ordained by God) to be covered. But sure, they’re seeking ‘kedusha’. Supposedly coming ‘closer’ to the God they’re so openly, unabashedly mocking.
Next.
Go on.
“tradition is most holy when it is varied and authentic”. Authentic. Yeah. I might add – Your “ritual” is most holy when accompanied by the reactions it INTENDED TO CREATE.
I really don’t have the time to continue. Let’s just say if one came into my home and spewed garbage, I’d be most upset. The Kosel is OUR’s, Our GOD’S HOME, OUR HOME, go spew your garbage elsewhere.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantAhava, For instance one like me, I come here without permission.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantYekkes can get moody?!?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantI love these conversations… Something like “yeah, so as I said last year…, I know, but two years ago you said..”
Enter the great BUMP!
Oh Shreck!ParticipantHow should I know?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantI was sleep posting last night.
Oh Shreck!Participantoops
Seems I forgot. It was an attempt at humor. I’m really a serious personality (deep, deep down), sometimes I get carried away (where) and I write something humorous.
June 11, 2013 5:47 am at 5:47 am in reply to: Most important Jewish (Torah) values to impart to your children #958256Oh Shreck!ParticipantCreate an awareness of HaShem. Make His presence felt in your household, in your life. Make His name constantly on you lips. ?? ???? ???? ????, besides the beneficial blessings that come through that.
Create a happy, cheerful disposition towards fulfilling HaShem’s mitzvohs, His will. A zestful, enthusiastic attitude, approach towards kiyum mitzvos will last a lifetime!
A positive outlook, true reverence towards Gedolim, Torah leaders.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantNo, you got me wrong. The Lamed Vav (Tzadikim) are 36 HIDDEN ones. I volunteered to be one, since I’m (supposedly) hidden here.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantCoffee, WB. You know EXACTLY when to re-join!!
Watch this big one!!! <<Fireworks>>
Oh Shreck!ParticipantSince we’re all (supposedly) anonymous and hidden here, I’ll volunteer.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantStill confused. I think, maybe, could be, I wasn’t in attendance. Actually I don’t recall being there today. (Shh, don’t tell the other side..)
June 9, 2013 8:30 pm at 8:30 pm in reply to: Who does V'ahavtah L'reiacha Kamochah Apply to? #958056Oh Shreck!ParticipantSomeone about to be killed, for transgressing a most severe sin.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantThe correct answer to this most puzzling question is:
If a person can get animated, then animals can have personality.
June 5, 2013 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm in reply to: Looking for deeper meanings to psukim in aishes chayil (Mishlei) #957730Oh Shreck!ParticipantYussel: Sorry it wasn’t to your liking, understanding or level. Shlomo hamelech thought it wise to praise her. Look it up, nothing’s my own.
June 5, 2013 3:00 pm at 3:00 pm in reply to: Looking for deeper meanings to psukim in aishes chayil (Mishlei) #957729Oh Shreck!ParticipantBrony, sorry it came out like that. Again, it was 2:40am, one hand on the keys, another with my “snack”. Of course there’s a deeper meaning. I just wanted to present the “plain”, pashuta meaning one. And I’m not a joking dude.
June 5, 2013 6:42 am at 6:42 am in reply to: Looking for deeper meanings to psukim in aishes chayil (Mishlei) #957726Oh Shreck!ParticipantSorry. Just got back (late, of course, like last night- or morning)
Why does anyone need a deeper meaning into that most beautiful work. Take it at face value. His mother ‘potched’ him, good. According to Medrash(?) she tied him to a beam and gave him makos… while saying the preceding kapital, words of sharp rebuke. At the conclusion, Shlomo HaMelech kisses the hand that punished him, and goes on to compose this great tribute to her, his wise, caring and understanding mother. And with this his Sefer of Chochma is completed.
I never fail to be amazed by it. That is true Chochma, knowing that the hand that punishes is really to our benefit. He lived with his Chochma, he internalized these ideas and ideals, he therefore was able to ‘kiss’ the hand that potched him, he actually felt its benefit. To guide him on the proper path, to help him strive for shleimus. What a most befitting ending.
(sorry if some parts came out gibberish, it’s 2:40 am, while snacking supper..)
Oh Shreck!ParticipantBored. Yeah! Me too..
Oh Shreck!ParticipantIs this the thing that the toddler in EY r”l ingested?!? Horrible. Why would anyone want to have it in their home?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantGood question. I get to come home sometimes at this unearthly timezone (3:08 am!) because companies cannot afford to have downtime in the earthly timezone. So I suffer, I cannot leave until e/t back up. I peek here while snaking supper (and lunch, and..)
BUT WHAT IS EVERYONE ELSE DOING UP NOW?!?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantDon’t know about you, I’d rather put my mind and efforts to helping out another Yid.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantThank you, teacher.
(recess time)
Oh Shreck!Participantand this is me writing from my Oh Shreck! accout.
Welcome Back, brother. Feel the excitement in re-connecting. Finding meaning in life. Living an observant Jewish, Torah life-style. Get some mentor you trust who can guide…
And we’re here for you, to send a kind, thoughtful, supportive, uplifting word your way.
We’re all rooting for you!!!
Hava a good, FANTASTIC Shabbos!!
Oh Shreck!ParticipantThe time I ran after and bent down to pick up something that had blown away from a woman. Her shaitel. (and yes, we know e/o).
Both beet red!
Oh Shreck!ParticipantMe? No. I’m (believe it or not) someone else.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantI need an auto un-like-er to decipher your secret message.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantYou almost post as much as I used to..
Oh Shreck!ParticipantDaasYochid:
Interesting thought (oh no) I had over Shabbos.
The ???? says ????? ???? .. ?? ????? ???? ??????. There are two ways to explain. One, Rashi (and Medrash), they’re referring to Tziporah, and they were dismayed at Moshe’s apparent “holier then thou” attitude. The other view, Rashbam and others, states they were referring to the queen of Kush, whom they gave to Moshe to remarry (he did not). So according to this view they were dismayed at Moshe’s abandon, his liberty due to his lofty position…
Two opposing views.. so relevant today.. Either too religious or too lax.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantWhy should anyone want to write against any religious group? What’s the great idea? I’m in no way Satmer, still I’d not bashmutz them. Chafetz Chaim says maligning a group is so more severe than an individual.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantHaLeiVi: No, the tires are focused (most of them), it’s the driver…
Oh Shreck!ParticipantWriterSould: Yes it WAS!
I was waiting for someone to “chap”. Every pun of mine is intended.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantShtiky, I didn’t disappear either. I just post less. Much less.
whose names should I pick?
Oh Shreck!
Eclipse, the human
Mod 80
and any other username I may have forgotten (or purposefully omitted!)
Oh Shreck!ParticipantThe baal koreh had nothing better to do then shmooze about the parsha in middle of the kriah?
Oh Shreck!ParticipantDidn’t answer the question.
Oh Shreck!ParticipantSyag, Maybe the Moderation override switch was accidentally turned on..
