Yes, living in Eretz Yisroel is a mitzvah, a great mitzvah. A great privilege, an opportunity to do more mitzvhos, an honor to be living in HaShem’s palace.

But we’re not moving there just to do away with out three day Yom Tov experience. It’s a experience, not a burden. It’s our chance to be totally disconnected from the mundane, just us and the Ribono Shel Olam. No, not a burden at all.

And, sorry to say, sometimes it’s a bit easier enjoying being frum, leider, in chutz la’aretz. (where else do signs on the bus say “Warning – on this bus you must sit where you want. Anyone who sits where they don’t want faces criminal charges..”) Nothing chas v’sholom against our holy land, it’s the status of things there currently a secular people have against us…

That is true, but speech is the very essence of man. If he debases himself to dirty street talk then his very essence follows… sad.

I don’t know which Shul you’re referring to. Could be they wanted to place one more desperate heartfelt plea for life at these closing moments. Maybe it was a bit too hard for them to contain themselves at this crucial moment, knowing their very fates were being finalized and sealed at that moment. Maybe this particular Shul allows for people to display earnest feelings, expressions while connecting to or communicating with their Creator. No, they do not lack Emunah at all. They take Davening seriously, enthusiastically, with a fiery zest. ????? ??? ?????, HaShem likes live, active attention to Avodah, not laid back, unemotional, passionless service.

And I don’t think Rav Tzvi Meir is one to be ridiculed.

Actually the other amusing part was when in the midst of the court /lawyer proceedings (I think something of a pre something or other) they asked me what my marks in school were before the accident, what were they afterwards. I had to tell the truth. (right hand raised..) Before it was something like 75-90, afterwards 90-100.

(still under influence of that “braining”)

And I challenge them to re-post the reply I wrote when you tried that last time:

({We are as healthy as all our Torah Leaders want us to be. To hope for the Har Habayis, to revere its kedushah by not treading on its holy soil, but to stand respectfully at the closest proximity permissible and daven. Reverently, with sanctity to HaSHem. For the true geulah. For the true Mikdash.

    No, we are not retarded.}}

Contrary to what you would have us believe, the Har Habais is unfortunately off limits to Torah true observant Jews, according to most poskim. Those looking to connect to Hashem at the closest proximity, must do so while standing at the Kosel – facing the makom hamikdash. Because that’s what Hashem ordained. That is His willing. We haven’t lost focus. No, throughout our 2,000+ years of golus, we haven’t lost focus of yearning for the geulah, the bais hamikdash, the restoration of the avodah and the rule of old. To go onto the har habayis now and (pray, dance, shout, or whatever) is not coming closer to Hashem, it is NOT Hashem’s ratzon, it is one’s OWN (misplaced) willing, urge or feelings.

When we stand in earnest prayer at the Kosel, we are fighting PROPERLY for the Bais hamikdash. That is our method. Has always been.

Shopping. I hear you. LOUD AND CLEAR. I’m sorry you went through so much pain. No. I don’t think there are real answers, these are emotions, everyone takes them and deals with them differently. ??? ??? ???? ???? ????, a person is not held accountable (to a degree) in time of his/her anguish. We are human, people with emotions.

And know too, someone who purposefully causes another pain, agmas nefesh, physical or mental anguish, WILL NOT GO UNPUNISHED.

There is this famous story the Chofetz Chaim (yartzeit on Friday) related. In his youth there was this poor widow who lived in some home, who couldn’t afford the rent. The landlord threatened time and again, he was going to throw her out into the streets. Finally things came to a head one day, and on a frigid cold wintry day, he went and removed the roof of her home.

Said the Chofetz Chaim, for years he was wondering, how could it be, the Torah states specifically ?? ????? ????? ?? ?????. ?? ??? ???? ????…the scary curse that befalls one who pains a widow or orphan (or any other unfortunate, downtrodden fellow). How could that landlord be left living peacefully years after doing such harm to a widow. He was left with that question for many years.

Years later, said the Chofetz Chaim, he got his answer. That man was bitten by a rabid dog, he went crazy and eventually died an agonizing death. To others who knew nothing about his past, it seemed such a unjust mishap, for him, he knew that was HaShem’s intervention, His just ways.

THERE IS JUSTICE, NOW, HERE, in this world, too. ??? ??? ???? ????, everything with an exact judgement. Those who hurt you…(while we’re not supposed to wish it..), there is a True Judge watching EVERYTHING.

hope that eases up some of your pain

    1) I try to be careful with my driving. Regarding the maintenance, well, I’d have to shlep along my mechanic’s whole garage to be perfectly, completely “safe”. And guess what? HaShem has the first and last word regardless. I could have the WHOLE stock of spare parts, with HaShem’s command JUST the tiny piece (little screw, nut, bolt, wire, cap) not in the sack, could fall off, rendering the car unusable. Of course there’s the regular ??????? (of which I did fail), but there’s no outsmarting HaShem’s decree.

    2) Increasing Peace. Well I’ve noted here before, I’m the one without a horn. (uh oh, I gave myself away, if you hear someone NOT honking – it’s me). So that’s more than enough to increase the peace. The guy in front of me (one way street ??? ??? ??? ????? ???? ?????) could be engrossed in his juicy piece of the latest, yapping away on his cellphone, oblivious to the fact that he’s holding up someone on the way to an extremely important conference, and I must sit there calmly, patiently. No, banging on my car won’t get me anywhere. To go outside and suggest he move it? He might not like my suggestion (face to face), and he might wonder why I have to get out of my car to make such a suggestion. (Should I tell him it costs about $150 or more to be able to join the brawl)

    3) I most certainly do not take HaShem’s chasadim for granted. Neither the great chesadim done by Chaveirim. THANK YOU!!! (again)

    Sam2,

No, don’t get me wrong. I don’t know Rambams. I just know about the one regarding (I think a taanis) that says troubles brought on a person are supposed to bring a him to teshuva. Kindly correct me if I’m wrong.

I might argue that indeed I am lacking in many areas (as you can see, and someone earlier mentioned). And yes, nothing down here happens haphazardly. Every single, minute inconvenience has an exact judgement, a lot as a result of our misdeeds. I think there’s a Rambam to that effect. And yes, HaShem first sends “signals” through one’s belongings, possessions for a person to take note and self-improve. ??? ????? ?? ?? ????? ?????. And some things are more direct, clearer than others.

I think I once wrote to you before (under my previous s/n a”h) there can be nice men too, of all ages. You’ll meet up with this pure “SELFISH” guy, intent at perfecting his character, his middas hachesed, he’ll end up using you for his goal. Pure selfishness! After all most opportunities of bestowing chesed, untold times, again and again, are with one’s spouse. He’ll couple with you for that purpose, to have someone to bestow chesed, to brighten someone’s life, to cheer, to make someone close and dear happy – ??? ???? ?????.

    Syag,

I’m not at all privy to your situation, I don’t know any details, but it could be it’s a bit harder to accept wholeheartedly when another person is involved. He is viewed as the the “source” of the misery, pain, hurt. I too was dealt a strong blow from a “human” some time ago, I really should know and realize Who was behind that “potsh”, Who ordained and planned it, but it doesn’t come so easily, it still hurts. The heart and mind are in two different places. It takes a lot of mussar and training to get to realize that. And once I do, I suppose the hurt will be less.

I wish you a full nechamah, closure, consolation over your pain.

I like the way you posed your question.

And in my humble opinion I think you’re right. It’s both! As Rabbi Miller says, one should accept lovingly from HaShem – all while trying to better the circumstance. Through Tefillah, Teshuva and through physical means. It’s no ‘stira’, one is bidden to always improve his/her ‘matzav’ while at the same time knowing that what CANNOT be changed, is intended by HaShem for some specific reason. For our benefit.
