Perhaps Chareidim can become more “modern” and still be clearly Orthodox while MO who want to move to the left become otd. Also, MO do not want Rebbeim to influence their children, just to teach them. They can be very vocal about this. The lack of respect for religion rubs off on the children.
History BuffParticipantThere was a case in Bork Park about 50 years ago where a Bobover chosid was stabbed to death on a Friday night walking home from shul. Shabbos morning a demonstration in front of the 66th precinct turned violent and the demonstrators broke into the building and trashed it. For those times that was a radical act to message that Jewish Lives Matter.

History BuffParticipantThe Modern Orthodox looters can wear Yarmulkas, no black hats.
History BuffParticipantA large blind study was released today on this topic. “The take-home message for the general public is that if you’re exposed to someone with Covid-19, hydroxychloroquine is not an effective post-exposure, preventive therapy,” the lead author of the study, Dr. David R. Boulware, from the University of Minnesota, said in an interview.”The results are being published in The New England Journal of Medicine. I’m sure there will be more studies to come but this is an important one.
History BuffParticipantCan you see the looters wearing hats and jackets and explaining to the police they were headed home after maariv by way of the Rolex store?
History BuffParticipantBTW, I agree with Accuracy and Accuracy that most people are listening to the rules. The mystery is why some people for religious reasons don’t listen to the major Rabbeim and Poskim.
History BuffParticipantI think these Chareidim have been raised on many stories where emunah triumphed over physical situations so they feel invulnerable. I disagree with that attitude but that is my take on it.
