Tzippy -Noone has to demand treatment from medical professionals. If someone is feeling slugish and can’t stand the cold -let them get a blood test called TSH (Tests thyroid function). I’ll give you hypothroidism, but not PCOS. PCOS only a woman can have. It’s true that these patients are classically obese, but one of the treatments for PCOS is to lose weight!

Health; Re:”excuse not to try”?If you read my post SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY,you will see that my question is:

Since it often takes time to correct a midah/lose weight…perhaps it isn’t feasible to wait until then to begin dating,or nobody would ever be absolutely “ready”.”

Firstly, I did answer that question – you should be on the proper path before looking for a spouse. Secondly, if you read my post carefully -I didn’t say you used that comment as an excuse, but that it is used for an excuse by many.

“(metabolism is not always in one’s control)”

Almost always is within the person’s control. This is also very often used as an excuse, but again I don’t know if you are using it as an excuse!

Finding good therapists is even harder than finding good doctors. There aren’t many, but they do exist, even in the frum community.

An org. called “Relief” helps frum people in this regard.

That’s true. You can learn this from that. But with teens they sometimes need extra help, not just from parents, schools, friends. A lot of times they need therapy. It’s sometimes a good idea to go for family therapy.

It takes a lifetime to come close to perfection, but your comment is the perfect example of an excuse not to try. We must start on that road of working on ourselves and then once we are really on that road, we can look to get married/remarried. Most people don’t want to even try -some delude themselves that they are trying. Just an example -“I’m losing weight -I’ve lost ten pounds in the last three months.” This person isn’t trying. // “I’ve had bypass surgery (or gastric band), but I’ve only lost ten pounds.” This person is trying and is on a good path. Not everyone who has surgery is ultimately successful, but it helps put you on the right path.

Trying my best – Why are you even trying to answer such a question? Anyone who could even ask such a question about pedophilia, really has no clue what it is! Even the most immoral goyim who believe in gay lifestyles, abortions, etc., consider pedophilia to be immoral!

The chillul Hashem & breaking the rules were getting on the bus without change, if you do it all the time. In Israel, anything goes, here most drivers follow the regs.; which I’ll repeat, since you are having a hard time grasping them, – not to stop to pick someone up once they close the door or move out of the bus stop!

Homeowner – It’s about time we start voting out the anti-semitic judges, who always find the frum Jew wrong. They did it in Iowa with the pro-gay judges; let’s do it here. We also have to get rid of federal judges without the congress involvement. We have to lobby our gov. to change the law. Too many judges don’t practice justice and they get away with it. I personally think a lot couldn’t care less, as long as they don’t look that bad and they clean their docket list!

You’re wasting your time. Even when you have a legit complaint, they ignore you. In this case, the bus driver acted acc. to MTA rules. FYI, no bus driver has to let you on and can tell you to leave, if you can’t pay the fare right away. He doesn’t have to let you get change. (Most are nice and do.) Secondly, as soon as the bus closes his door or if he didn’t open it because noone was standing there and started moving away (even an inch), he is not allowed to stop again and pick someone up. (Again, most are nice and will stop.) Learn the regs. before you complain! Maybe don’t break the rules and cause a chillul Hashem.

MDD & others – Let me clarify what I meant: The Torah is Hashem’s words. Listening to the Torah is Rozon Hashem (Hashem’s will). Certain things we would know that Hashem wants us to do without him actually having to write it down; eg. murder. Like by Kayin -he should have figured out killing is wrong with his own sense. To repeat my answer to the original poster: All morality comes from Hashem -it’s only moral if Hashem wants us to do it. If Hashem didn’t care if we killed each other -then it wouldn’t be immoral! One example: Acc. to the law if someone breaks into your house and tells you I’m just here to steal and I won’t hurt you and I have no weapons -you aren’t allowed to do anything physical to him. This is immoral acc. to our laws- to harm him. Acc. to the Torah, you can kill him, no matter what he says. This would be perfectly moral acc. to the Torah!

You only know it’s wrong once Hashem put it in the Torah. It’s not wrong if it’s not from the Torah. In other words, first comes the Torah, then anyone can figure it out -right or wrong (morals), even if they never learnt Torah!

Chevrah -I actually believe you (probably one of the few). The problem here was, that the Judge had to make a quick decision, so bacically she did whatever she wanted. Next time go to a real Court and use a real lawyer. I actually don’t feel bad for them, considering I’ve gone to court and the Judges were very far from honest and truthful. “Kol Hadom Koizev”. We daven everyday for the restoration of true Judgement.

myfriend -Even an arbirtrator can do whatever to figure out who is right. Where did you get this notion of violation of privacy? How else do you expect this arbirtrator to come to a decision? This calling to the company was for verification of the claim of the plaintiff. Poppa’s scenario is probably somewhat correct. She probably bought a shaitel awhile ago -she probably paid hundreds to $3000 -she didn’t have the receipt and decided to use this one. It never occurred to her that it might be checked out. As far as commiting any fraud -that’s ridiculous. In order to prove fraud -you have to know the original value of the shaitel -which noone knows and prove they willingly wanted more money than it’s value. There is no fraud here and no chillul Hashem. They just shouldn’t have made a public spectacle of frum Jews. Next time hire a lawyer, so you know how to prove your case.

Shraga -When I was sitting shiva for my child, one vort stood out particularly nice. Here it is – The Torah in Parshas Pinchus when it talks about Yerushah says a child will yarshen a father, a brother will yarshen a brother. If noone else, then the uncle will yarshen a nephew. What happenned to a father inheriting a child -this should come before an uncle? The answer is of course that would be the Din, but even the Torah didn’t want to talk about the death of a child because it’s too painful!

Maybe this is true about your colleagues, but the majority that I know are not like that! It sometimes seems this way, but in reality -practioners have little choice. We can’t force patients to do anything, so if they won’t do what you tell them -what should we do -not give them meds?!!

Mr. Hirsch -There is another aspect that you aren’t taking into account that didn’t apply during the prohibition years. Medicine is getting more technologically advanced day by day. These smokers are becoming a financial burden on society as we can prolong a lot of their lives. They are now producing a protocol to detect lung cancer at an early stage. (90% of lung CA is due to smoking.) They want to make this widespread on smokers and former smokers. It will become to smokers as mammography is to women. We definitely should help people live longer, even if the cause of their illness is their own vices. But, why should the rest of us pay for this? Hence, the gov. wants to keep raising taxes on cigarettes. Let them at least pay partly for their future medical care! Most experts say we can’t afford to pay for medical care right now, let alone in the future. We are busting at the seams. Probably in the not so distant future we will be rationing health care, not what most Americans want. This is what occurs in western society, in all these socialist countries, right now!

WIY -Today’s TV has programs called reruns, which I know some of them aren’t bad. A parent has to make sure what the kids are watching. It’s true what your saying about Family guy or other such cartoons. I personally have never watched them, but the way I understand it is that Hollywood developed cartoons for adults. They aren’t meant for children. Even Hollywood makes a distinction between adults and children on what’s appropiate. Just because you watched the worse of the worse, doesn’t mean there is nothing “Kosher” on.
