Professional -Is that nurse frum?
HealthParticipantfeif un – Did your father ever inform the ER staff, that you probably had appendicitis, when you arrived?
January 30, 2011 5:42 am at 5:42 am in reply to: Of your Shidduch related decisions what would you change if you could #735764HealthParticipantNoone told me the truth. If I would have known the truth, I wouldn’t have gone out ever in the first place. People, just be careful. Most people have their own agendas and you’re not one of them. Don’t trust anyone and I’m not being paranoid; and this includes your own family members. The more questions you ask, the more likely you might be able to discern some sort of cover-up.
HealthParticipantYZ – Nothing you posted couldn’t be handled by first aiders, unless you were doing the transport.
HealthParticipanteclipse – Those regular themes are usually romance and stuff along those lines.
HealthParticipantCF – “so lets just agree to disagree?”
I’m not sure I have a disagreement with you. I think you thought since I posted to you originally, I was talking to you & only you.
I was making a point in Mussar to everyone, not just you. So- no reason to be on the defensive!
HealthParticipantestherhamalka -First of all, what DID the doc do to you? Also, was the doc on staff there or did he just have rights there? Even if you’re correct and there is one bad surgeon, so every other doctor/surgeon is also no good?
HealthParticipantProfessional -You sound professional.
cb1 & Feif Un – I ask you the same question -“Any particular incident(s) that have occurred to you or your family in either of these two places that helped formulate this opinion? Or did you formulate your opinions based on what you heard on the grapevine?”
HealthParticipanteclipse -But in those books they have different themes, which I wouldn’t rather go into. For those themes, the description of the women follows the theme. Some people even say the Mother Goose themes are bad.
HealthParticipanteclipse -I understand, but I hardly spend time with my kids in my house. It has to be elsewhere. You can consider yourself lucky. Maybe this point I just made will help you stay calm. It’s only nice to have peace and quiet some of the time, not all of the time.
HealthParticipanteclipse – Why wouldn’t she be a kid? These books are written for kids. Adult books don’t have this kind of theme -“CREATE A HEROINE”. So some kids are exposed to heroines who aren’t perfect like Pollyana!
HealthParticipantYossi -First Aid and First Responder aren’t the same thing.
“The things I kept seeing were more…”
Can you give an example?
HealthParticipant” It’ll only be a couple times a week at most. Not much more unhealthy than walking the streets of NYC “
I’m sure smoking tobacco, even a few times a week, even through a pipe can have serious health consequences. Such as serious life threating illnesses. How about smoking the pipe once a year?
HealthParticipantNoone gets a license, just a certification.
There is nothing wrong with having first aid knowledge by taking a CPR & First Aid course. You don’t need to be an EMT unless you plan on working on an ambulance. I don’t mean to exclude volunteer ambulance services. Until that time, why take an EMT course?
HealthParticipantDunno – Some people put on shows their whole life. I don’t believe in ever putting on a show -what ya see, is what ya get!
January 28, 2011 6:56 am at 6:56 am in reply to: Companies that Make Employees Work Saturdays #735562HealthParticipantRB -The problem he has -it’s against the law, officially.
Look most people don’t want to pay taxes and it’s logical to say you should be able to keep your own money. But they pay anyway because they don’t want to break the law. People should accommodate Shabbos observers because they shouldn’t want to break the law, whether they can get away with it or not.
HealthParticipantHomeowner- It definitely would be cruelty, they aren’t vets.
The problems I’ve found with Maimo is more lack of bedside manner, by certain staff, then lack of decent medical care.
HealthParticipantcommonsense- Your first hand experiences will help people like me 1. See if it’s just perception. 2. See if there are solutions to the problems presented (Quality Improvement).
Also, I was responding to a certain poster talking about 2 hospitals. I didn’t put a topic asking people to tell me every horror story they ever heard. I don’t know which hospital(s) you are refering to, but just to let you know -no hospital or human is always perfect. Everyone will make a mistake sometime, this is reality. All we can do is try to learn from our mistakes!
HealthParticipantCF -Noone says you don’t, but you called it torture. It’s kedai to have a little torture to break a Midah and acquire Savlonus. I never implied that you said “you can’t stand”. But being with a person that you can’t stand as opposed to someone who just is not for me, the former will help you work on your midos a lot more.
January 28, 2011 6:14 am at 6:14 am in reply to: Companies that Make Employees Work Saturdays #735560HealthParticipantHomeowner – “I do have an opinion, however, about two other things. First, appearing pro se in major litigation makes as much sense as practicing medicine on yourself with a serious medical condition. You have no education, knowledge, skills and experience to prepare you for the task at hand.”
I agree. But I had one choice either sue them Pro se or let them win without a fight. I picked the former.
HealthParticipantyossi z. – You mean un-certified. All EMTs are unlicensed.
BTW, why did you take the EMT course?
HealthParticipantHey, you have it easy. If the guy doesn’t walk you to the door, he gets crossed off the list. You don’t have to go out five times deciding only after the fifth time he’s not for you.
HealthParticipant“CREATE A HEROINE WHO IS NOT PERFECTLY BEAUTIFUL!”
I didn’t read many girl books, but I can think of one I read that describes what you wrote. Ever hear of “Pippy Longstocking”?
HealthParticipantSac – If 9 times out of 10 you want a meal, offer to pay for it.
I don’t mean going Dutch, offer to pay for his too!
HealthParticipantcoffefan – “i cannot agree more!!!! it’s torture to sit through 3+ hours of a date when you just know it’s not for you”
What happens when you get married and you get into your first fight, which happens to almost everyone? Are you going to run home to mommy, call mommy on the phone, run into the bedroom and slam & lock the door? Sitting through a date with someone you can’t stand -for three hours -teaches the person Savlonus. This middah is key to having a relationship with anyone. People should learn from employers who give interviews. Lots of times, they know right away they have no interest in you, but they give you the same time and treat you the same way as everyone else!
HealthParticipantEsther – I see you don’t like Maimonides or Coney. You have the right to your negative opinion, but to me it’s pure Motzay Shem Rah! Any particular incident(s) that have occurred to you or your family in either of these two places that helped formulate this opinion? Or did you formulate your opinions based on what you heard on the grapevine?
HealthParticipantHey that song kept playing over and over again on the radio when I was in High School.
Seriously though, sometimes when trying to change a character trait or a Midah, it might not be enough to say I learn about it in a sefer. Sometimes it’s good to get professional help, either a Rov or a Rebbitzen or a therapist. They sometimes can get your engine going, if it’s stalled!
HealthParticipanteclipse – ” b”h have plenty of work,just too self-critical”
Perhaps when you were married -you were criticized a lot and you internalized it.
HealthParticipantdeiyezooger -My Deiah is -I’d rather be a rich unhappy person, than a poor unhappy person!
HealthParticipantCharlie and Philly, – You’re both wrong.
You piqued my curiosity, so I did a search and found these two answers on Yahoo answers:
“Question- What language is the song -“Que sera, sera”?
1. The words “que” and “sera” exist in French, but the phrase “que sera, sera” has meaning only in Spanish and in Italian.
Both have the SAME meaning and sound similar when spoken.
BUT- the original song was taken from a saying in an ITALIAN film. The songwriters changed the spelling to appear more Spanishlike. Note that the songwriters were neither hispanic nor Italian.”
Charlie- Now you know why the song isn’t “Lo que”.
I guess if you are an artist, you can take one language (Italian)and spell it in another (Spanish)!
HealthParticipantQueens General, Kingsbrook Jewish, Coney Island, Maimonides & Winthrop -all the hospitals I trained at.

January 27, 2011 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm in reply to: Companies that Make Employees Work Saturdays #735558HealthParticipantIt doesn’t even sound as the victim is frum. She might actually win because it doesn’t sound like an accommodation case, just a discrimination case. My advice to anyone who wants to sue -never sue under religious accommodation, sue under disparate treatment. (If suing in federal court.) So you are not subject to that TWA vs. Hardison case where everything is an “undue hardship”. After what I’ve seen with my own cases, I wouldn’t be surprised if courts would rule -Hey, you caused some manager to blow their nose, Ah ha -“undue hardship”!
Homeowner – I did it “pro-se”. Noone wanted to take the case “Pro-bono”. Now don’t go saying they didn’t want it because I didn’t have a case. Research my case and then talk.
January 26, 2011 5:17 pm at 5:17 pm in reply to: Companies that Make Employees Work Saturdays #735551HealthParticipantHomeowner – You can’t argue with them -this is reality in the good ole USA. I took one of my Shabbos discrimination cases up to the Supreme Court – they didn’t want to hear it. I still can only assume why the Judge and subsequent Appeals Court ruled against me was because of Bias. There is no logical reason that they had any hardship, let alone an “undue hardship” not to accommondate me being off for Shabbos!
HealthParticipantSJS- “I didn’t say doctors killed my grandmother. I said my grandmother contracted c. diff while in the hospital. I do not blame my grandmothers doctors for her death.
You however have been trying to twist my words from day one.”
This is your quote from the Homebirth Post:
“Health, there is a high corrolation between elderly in hospitals or long term care facilities developing increased colonization of c. diff, causing extreme diahrea and often death. But feel free to say I am blaming this on medical negligence.”
I didn’t twist your words, those are your words -“feel free to say I am blaming this on medical negligence”. If this was Sarcasm or you Really had a different reason why organisms colonize in medical facilities, you should have said so then. I’m Not a mind reader, if you say your reason is because of medical negligence, I’m going to believe you. At that time I posted that you had brought No proof to your accusations. If you want people to believe your story, you must bring proof. My point here is that one place you mention how bad hospitals are due to high colonizations of bacteria which can cause subsequent death (that part is true), but you laid this occurrence on medical negligence (which is only sometimes true). This is my interpretation of your comments. There is no twisting of your comments. But here you post how the OP should join the medical field and seem very positive about medical practice.

January 26, 2011 6:06 am at 6:06 am in reply to: Companies that Make Employees Work Saturdays #735541HealthParticipantCharlie – I must have gotten the father and son mixed up. Harding must be the father.
HealthParticipanttoomuch00- You’re speaking from what you heard -I’m speaking from
being a med prof. PA school is basically 4 years of med school jammed into 2.
Keep your eyes open during college, some students think they will love medicine, but when they begin to see what it really entails, they realize it’s not for them. Good luck on whatever you do in life! Also, if you do decide to go to med school or PA school find out what the prereqs are. Not every school has the same prereqs. If you are an “A” student you can pretty much get in anywhere, but why do more school than you have to? Start taking the prereqs already in your first year of college.
HealthParticipantMetrodriver -There must be something to this skipping. Check my post above.
HealthParticipanttoomuch00- “yet its not as hard or crazy as being a doctor”
Sometimes it’s harder, sometimes it’s not. PA school is probably harder than Med school.
HealthParticipantPost deleted, except for this:
Stop protecting her!

HealthParticipantFirst of all, I’ve seen these types on the parkway rest stops. I used to travel a lot between Lakewood and NY. At first I couldn’t figure it out -why is a guy with a beard and peyos wearing a blue shirt and pants and a baseball cap? Then I realized they must have been gambling in A.C. BTW, this is a very small percentage of frum Jews, definitely not as many who are alcoholics. Second of all, if you’re the wife -don’t go with them to A.C., this just condones their behavior. When the guy asks “How come?” -tell him the truth- say “I would like you to go to a therapist, I think you might have a problem”. If he is in denial, you go and find out what to do. Arguing, will not make him wake up and smell the coffee. Do what you have to do, but under guidance of mental health prof. & Rabbonim!
January 26, 2011 3:44 am at 3:44 am in reply to: Companies that Make Employees Work Saturdays #735537HealthParticipantCharlie -Isn’t that zip from California? I think there is some show 90 something. Actually, I’m rethinking my post. The Federal Appeals Courts in the West have upheld TWA vs. Harding, not like the Appeals Courts on the East, where they make a sham of that Supreme Court case- were if the company says it’s “undue hardship” then it is, no matter what you say, no matter whether they have proof or not. Actually, I tried this argument to the Supreme Court, that there shouldn’t be more than one law to the land (different Appeals Courts rulings), but they still refused to take the case. This happenned to me and others. You might actually get some justice on the West Coast, not like here. Maybe over there -their bias isn’t as strong like those over here, who think it’s called “Jew York”. (Recent TV news -Jew York Jets lose.)
HealthParticipantYochie – “That I heard from Rabbi Miller ztz”l.”
He was born and raised in Balto. In his time there wasn’t a Yeshiva for Bais Medrash, so he went to Europe, then to NY.
I doubt if he grew up there when NIRC existed, he would have moved out. But keep dreaming NY is the only place to live.
When I first came to Lakewood, it was just like OOT, now it’s another borough of NY.
January 26, 2011 12:48 am at 12:48 am in reply to: Companies that Make Employees Work Saturdays #735535HealthParticipantThey do this all the time. Nothing has really changed in the US for frum yidden. But years ago, goyim were more honest, now they have official laws against religious discrimination, but don’t enforce them.
HealthParticipantDELETED,You are not the only person in the Coffee Room who is entitled to express their opinion about a health or related issue.
HealthParticipantOOmis – I lost quite a few patience! Or was the patient’s restraints too loose?
HealthParticipantI think they have something called Gamblers anonymous – 1-800 -Gambler, something like that. In the frum community this addiction isn’t that common, so perhaps this why there is no org. for this.
Wife -get a hold of one of these org., even a goyishe one and get prof. advice. Don’t just walk out and say it ain’t my problem!
HealthParticipantOr Giant Old Quack.
HealthParticipantpopa_bar_abba- I realize you are kidding when you posted -“I text and I speed”. I usually enjoy your humorous posts, but here you see a lot believed your post. Even though those posters got angry at you and wouldn’t copy such behavior, don’t forget this is a public forum- a teenager or even an adult looking for an excuse for their bad behavior, could easily say “Ya-know, what I do isn’t so bad, look others do it also.”!
HealthParticipantI’d rather look in the mirror and not be the fairest of them all. The wicked Queen always had to be the fairest, so when she found out she wasn’t, she got so jealous, she tried to kill Snow White. This is the lesson of the fairy tale -be happy with what you are. Because you know what -you nor anyone else is perfect! I’m not giving an excuse not to try to perfect one’s self, but while our goal in life is perfection esp. in Avodas Hashem, we still have to accept ourselves the way we are now. So if you have to lose a “few” extra pounds, keep trying you’ll get there sooner than you think. But, the main thing is not to despair, no matter what you perceive yourself as now!
