It is correct. He was invited there by Rav Moshe Soloveitchik Z’TL
hatzolajewMemberyes.
hatzolajewMemberNot to get back to the main point of the thread, but I think this conversation emphasizes what he was saying.
hatzolajewMemberMedrash rabbah yeshayahu perek Samuch
hatzolajewMemberIt might not be unreasonable. Comparing today’s situation to the Nazi Germany is unreasonable. And insulting.
hatzolajewMemberWhile there are differing opinions in Chazal on that point, in no way shape or form has anyone suggested “killing” anyone spiritually. You would be able to push of service to learn for 3 years, you would be able to be fully 100% shomer torah umitzvot while in Sheirut Leumi, and then return to Torah learning.
The Nazi comaparions are sickenign and disheartning. I’m sure many people here are descended from survivors, let’s not insult them or the collective Jewish past.
hatzolajewMemberJust think, if you were in there position, would you be doing what they are doing?
hatzolajewMemberIt’s really quite funny that some of the posters here are taking the “learned” higher ground, when the graduates of this institution could wipe the floor with any of them in a halachik debate…

hatzolajewMemberI’m told there’s a guy in Meah Shearim who sends it really cheaply..anyone know anything about this?
hatzolajewMemberEilu v eilu
hatzolajewMemberHolymoe- 2 thumbs up. MRHG R’Lichtenstien doesn’t wear but says it is perfectlly mutar to do so, if not preferable
hatzolajewMemberI agree. Espcially if you live in Zionist Israel. Leaving to daven to the kever of R’Nachman is the way to go.
hatzolajewMemberYes. Also talk about being a naval b’rishus HaTorah. Looking for reasons why it’s halachically ok for this.
hatzolajewMemberCan everyone one here please read “The Ideology of Hesder” by MaRan Aharon Lichtenstein and understand that there is tremendous value in Talmud Torah AND tremendous value in hearing the crying baby of Klal Yisrael. They aren’t mutually exclusive.
hatzolajewMemberTo the OP. Yes
hatzolajewMemberWhat do people think of the intellectual rather than spiritual focus?
hatzolajewMemberI’m sorry, Rav Lichtenstein is possibly one of the smartest men alive. He is a Gaon and a Harvard PHD. My son did get in, he is deciding between there and Kerem B’Yavneh. Centrist orthodoxy is far different than Modox. I doubt Rav Aharon would call himself “Modern”
hatzolajewMemberIf it is a hesder yeshiva, it isn’t Modox…
hatzolajewMemberAm I the only one who isn’t a fan. Not for any ideological purposes, I just don’t like their music…
hatzolajewMemberDo you feel it is appropriate?

hatzolajewMemberIt just goes to show how each side values life..
