I think a part of the problem is that there is such an emphasis on being open-minded. People are so open-minded their brains fall out and they forget to think of what they themselves believe in. for example- its okay to daven form an iPhone because at least their davening. We don’t need to be so accepting of everyone!
mechanchim are so scared to reprimand people for their wrongdoings out of fear for turning them off. but that doesn’t help matters because then everyone is so content with their ways( like Rebyidd said) and they don’t even realize what their doing wrong and what their lacking!!
we need to have the strength to get up and say THAT IS WRONG! And we wont be accepting of that! instead of always justifying their actions!

oomis: I never said its not good to daven, and I agree that davening from a smartphone is better than not davening at all.
but I believe the discussion were having now is leaning more towards is it showing a lack of kavod to Hashem by talking to Him through an item that I am sure He despises?

the world is a much scarier place than it was a century ago. Now it would be considered unsafe to drive with out a cell phone, people are less scared to attack others, and there have been too many assault stories making me scared to have my kids drive without taking my cell phone with them.
But that does not justify teenage kids having iPhones!! Or even texting!

1) are you davening for the phone or to the phone?
2) if it drops do you need to kiss it?
