September 6, 2011 4:59 am at 4:59 am in reply to: Life as the son of a Child Molester: My story #819791HalelujahMember
I never planned on posting or signing in as I haven’t done so for a year but after reading just about every post here, I changed my mind…
I felt inspired by the outlook of emunah and positiveness MiddlePath has developed towards life.
I felt touched by the numerous wise and caring comments that aries has contributed since the start of this column.
I felt amazed at the inner strength of Happiest who despite all her pain, and all the challenges that have come her way, she still emerges determined to get through these ordeals and with her motto, which is her user name, “happy”ness.
I felt proud that I’m part of a nation that has other “Queens” and “Mountain Climbers” and many more such caring and concerning people as members.
…this is why I felt the need to comment.
Chazak V’nischazek! Stay strong! You are ALL an inspiration for the rest of us!
HalelujahMemberto: yentingyenta
I assume your also from Passaic/Clifton?
HalelujahMemberI am from Passaic and it is a very nice community. it is not very materialistic and the people for the most part are Frum people who are always working on themselves. People call Passaic the “Out of Town In town.”
I am going to probably surprise most of you but here are some facts about passaic.
1. There are Three Elementary schools
One is the Regular Yeshivish Type of school together in the boys, girls and preschool there are about 2,000 students in three different buildings. (the girls and boys schools are on two different parts of town.
there is also Hillel which is a more main stream smaller yeshiva.
and there is a cheder which is also small.
2.There are two Misivtas in town and a Beis Yaacov
3. There are over 15 shuls
There are YU shuls (and they are very Frum)
and there are very yishivisha places
4. There is a Yeshiva Gadola under Rav Meir Stern
5. There are Full time Kolles
6.There are Pizza bagel stores as well as restaurants under the local Vad.
7. We are only Seven Miles from the city
This means with out traffic it can take fifteen minutes.
8.All of passaic is close and walkable
there is buses into the city
9. there are parks
10. There is a lot of shopping within five minutes drive
(Target, Shoprite, cosco, staples, barnsandnobeles sports authority, stop and shop, Acme, These are just to name a few.
11.With in fifteen minutes you will be in NEW YORK, Teaneck, Numerous malls.
12. Within Thirty Minutes you will be in Monsey, West Orange, Elizabith, Linden, Edison.
14. There are many many Gamachim and other Chessed Opportunity’s in passaic
These are just a few things off the top of my head
I know there is some type of chabad but i don’t know the extant.
Also the people in passaic are very nice.
HalelujahMemberRegardless of whether you are chassidishe or modern orthodox; a card holding member of Neturei Karta, or a loyal volunteer at AIPAC, if you haven’t seen it already, this video is worth checking out.
Roi Klein died al kiddush hashem. His death was saving the lives of his friends, it’s worth watching this moving and inspirational video: http://www.aish.com/v/hoi/52829292.html
HalelujahMemberIs wearing a hat and jacket on a trip to the zoo in ninety degree weather really more of an honorable thing to do? I think gentiles will consider that a bizarre and quite radical activity, not a respectfeul one. One who dresses nicely, wears a yarmulkah, and ACTS (this is a big one, and it counts, I see many jewish looking people act in a way I’m ashamed to affiliate myself with them)like a mensch, isn’t that a jew?!
Don’t worry, his modest and respectful dresscode and behavior will definitely be noticed and linked to his judaism when everyone else is dressed for the beach and yelling like they’re on a roller coaster…
HalelujahMemberI think the problem is that we spend to much time in the YWN Coffee room and little time with our kids.
HalelujahMemberIf you have a thin tongue you can lick out the crumbs, unless some crumbs are fleishig and some are milchig. The majority of your crumbs however, are probably parve, so the milchig/fleishig are probably batel bashishim and it’s not a problem altogether.
HalelujahMember“i” = person 1
“know someone” = person 2
“who’s sister” = person 3
“‘s friend'” = person 4
TAKE IT A STEP FURTHER:
“dog’s”= character 5
“previous owner’s”= person 6
“friend”= person7
“heard from a meteorologist” person 7
ENTER A WEATHER REPORTER AND THE STORY IS AUTOMATICALLY NOT TRUE AS THEY GET PAID TO MAKE UP STORIES.
HalelujahMemberHow old is your son?
You know your son, if HE is responsible AND he is with responsible people, as you said, why not?
Make sure you reiterate to him the yearly set of reminders about the potential danger that could result from irresponsibility and recklessness on purim.
HalelujahMemberAs strange as this may sound, try using “OFF” bug spray. I don’t know what’s in it, but I used it once more or less by accident when there was permanent marker, and I found that it worked.
HalelujahMemberwell in a couple years, with the Bill gates’s x-fortune you’ll barely be able to buy a pie of pizza. Ha Ha
HalelujahMemberRav Sherer passed away ten years ago- a decade is ten years so he is excluded.
HalelujahMemberOur nose runs down to our feet therefore our feet must smell!
HalelujahMemberRaisedEyebrow: Thanks for the warm response to Window In Heaven!
HalelujahMemberFYI Bill gates is no longer the world’s richest man (even before he decided to finally give masser on is money to PETA). The richest man is some dude in Mexico.
America’s richest man was John D Rockefeller who had about fifteen times the fortune of Bill Gates (until he decided to buy a couple of states, and build a house with a couple hundred rooms and twenty plus bathrooms, I believe he used his money more productively than Mr. Gates).
HalelujahMemberNittul Nacht is already over. I stayed up to bedavka learn after Nittel Nacht of course…but how can I get up without checking in in the YWN coffee room (okay maybe I’m being dan lekaf zechus to myself)
HalelujahMemberc’mon Moderators, you’re too tired to repond?
Was in the middle of responding while you were posting this. Now can we get back on topic please?
HalelujahMemberWhat are Moderators still doing up? Don’t they have to get up for shacharis tomorrow?
The only retarded person who is still up flooding YWN with comments is some guy Halelujah.
HalelujahMemberCan you ask those in authority and let us know?
Thanks.
December 25, 2009 6:51 am at 6:51 am in reply to: Breaking news: Fun Couple Crashed Obama’s State Dinner #670878HalelujahMemberWell now there are two ways to meet with Obama:
First, Crash his dinner party by telling the secret service that you left the invitation in the car and you’re Obama’s cousins.
Second, get into a racial fight with a Harvard Professor and then drink a beer with Obama.
Who wants to go first?
HalelujahMemberplonisalmonis: I have that question too. Can we vote or request songs, singers, albums, etc?
Moderator, what do you say?
Good questions. I have no idea.
HalelujahMemberIf I may, I’ll take a very moderate stance and start with Rav Noach Weinberg z”l.
He was one of the founders of Ohr Sameach and founded Aish Hatorah. He has also done much work “behind the scenes.”
I’d rather NOT post Gedolim (such as Rav Elyashiv, Rav Shteinman, etc, you get the picture), as it is impossible to determine which gadol supports klal yisroel the most.
HalelujahMemberHere is a newer song by Shea Rubenstien, called “Window In Heaven” about a boy (himself, Shea) who grows up with a father that passes away at a young age. Also dedicated to Moishele Holtzberg.
You can find a beautiful music video of it on MostlyMusic.com under his name.
Please tell me what you think of it if you look.
HalelujahMemberPeople who work at the fire hydrant factory park backwards because they know they won’t get a ticket anyway since they are the ones that are making the hydrant illegal to park in front of. Bottom line: they don’t need to find a legal parking space because they’ll park illegally anyway.
HalelujahMemberTell your kids if they want hot dogs for supper, they better start moving!
December 25, 2009 5:24 am at 5:24 am in reply to: Good Bachurim Can Smoke?! What’s the Purim Heter? #671287HalelujahMemberI agree to you wholeheartedly maniac.
Just a side point, judging from your name, % MANIAC” it does sound like the radical name of someone who would do something crazy like that.
Sorry for getting sidetracked, now back on topic…
HalelujahMemberronsr: We jewish people have this obsession with food that we call “kosher,” I don’t about William Gilbert, but food such as fried pork ears don’t exactly fit into our diet. We sort of care about what we are consuming just as much as who we are dining with.
I think the most respectable and honest thing at that table was actually the bottle of beer.
EDITED
HalelujahMemberGreat chinuch for the rest of America “got a problem? drink a beer.”
Maybe Obama can sit down with Al Sharpton and drink a beer with him too, it seems to work awfully well.
HalelujahMemberI wasn’t there. I am just suggesting an idea.
The on who posted seems to be having more of a problem with the sefer part than the safety aspect. Was it really a safety issue? I don’t know.
HalelujahMemberI was watching a video clip on different ways to temporarily relieve depression. I can’t find it now, bu there are some very helpful pointers which I found. The presenter is a Dr. Rabin, and he suggests a website: healthylifestyle.upmc.com
One trick that always helps somewhat in calming emotions whether anger, frustration or depression, is taking in a breath of air, one to two seconds, and (if possible) going on a short walk can help too.
Try to keep in mind some humorous and cute stories or comments that you’ve heard or seen at some point, and when you feel yourself feeling “down,” think about them.
I hoped I’ve helped in some manner. Being that i am only a 16 year old, I’d feel to shy to say anything if this was in public.
I wish you hatzlacha, and as a cohen, i give you a brachah that Hashem should give you the koach you need to get through this situation as soon as possible!
HalelujahMemberHOw about in a friendly manner trying to talk to them and clearly explaining what is wrong with it from the onset. For all they know and care, they might think they are throwing little hebrew (or any other foreign language) story books out the window to kids in their schoolyard. I have talked to non-jewish public school kids before, not in the best of neighborhoods. If you are calm, rational, and sincere about it, they may listen, they may not. It’s definitely worth a chance.
