“I don’t like the billions of chinese auctions, the phone calls, the ninty letters per day-i even find it very hard when i am downstairs doing laundry to run upstairs three times because the meshulachim think they will do better if they come separately.”

Thank you! This is what I’m talking about…!! It’s not that I don’t want give to Tzeddakah (when I have what to give that is!). It’s the means by which they go about it that frustrates me. I don’t want them to call me at all hours of the day. Don’t clog my phone line! Don’t HARRASS me to give money, buy raffle tickets, GO VOTE (I forgot to mention that one! By far the worst!!), go to your sale, your auction, your dinner, production, etc! Hang posters, send letters in the mail if you want to, but please, please have some respect! A little “menchlichkeit” can go a long way!

“Next time someone calls, tell him you’ll donate a billion dollars. It will be one penny per year over the next one hundred billion years. Ask them to send one hundred billion envelopes to your house so you can mail out the pennies to them.”

    Great Idea!! LOL…

The problem is that these are recordings(!) NOT live people calling… If there was someone to speak to I would have asked them to remove my name from their lists pronto!

The caller ID’s vary from “Fleet Bank”, to “Oklahoma”, etc… Sometimes they also appear as private people’s phone numbers…

I’m sure I’m not the only one that gets them… Don’t you?

So that’s what it is… I hadn’t known that “Not For Profits” are exempt. But what about menchlichkeit? Do I need fifteen reminders about the “Bobov Lotto”, the “Kedai Lotto”, etc??

Regardless, the Raffles, Tzedakah Parties, and Chinese Auctions are not the only ones calling. Every time there is a sale in the Georgie building I get called numberous times. Then there were dozens of phone calls around Chol Hamoed time regarding all the slide presentations and productions being shown. I’m pretty sure these are not considered Not For Profits.

Something gotta be done! It’s bordering on harrassment, IMO.
