    Oomis,

So what you are saying is that he speaks well and articulates his points with wisdom when he agrees with your views, but when there is a disagreement he is ignorant.

    Nisht,

I only mention HSV2 for the sake of completeness. A good way to remember the difference is that HSV 1 typcally shows up in the upper half of the body and HSV2 shows up in the lower half, although this is not set in stone as crossovers have been known to happen.

    Lior,

What should be banned is the transmission of diseases to children when preventable. Yes, kissing should be banned when the child’s health is at risk. You wouldn’t kiss an infant if you had the flu (I hope).

I flew from JFK to Tel Aviv on Elal in January of this year. I had a small rolling carry-on and a knapsack and I had no issue taking them both on the plane. Neither bag was weighed at any time.

    It absolutely CAN.

HSV1 and HSV2 are transmitted through direct contact of bodily fluids (mouth to open surgical wound).

The thought that there is no possibility of transmission of the virus while performing MBP is completely unfounded and downright wrong.

Social order would break down quickly if all took the law into their own hands. If you feel you were wronged, go to the courts.

It is most certainly possible, although ethically (and therefore legally within the medical community) it is questionable. There have been many complex multicellular organisms successfully cloned, but there are still major (and common) complications that arise.

At the current stage of scientific progress we can not ensure the cloning process to be perfect, so we refrain from doing so for the purpose of human well-being.

Why are we so afraid of secular education? If torah is the emes, there should be no fear of falling into the trap set by academia.

You responded to the goq saying, “u have no proof it isn’t.” (Sic)

That is not how debate works. You made the claim about Brookdale, therefore you have the burden of proof.

Unless the school is organizing the mishaloch manos, I think it is a bad idea for individual students to give gifts to teachers. It can potentially lead to teachers favoring certain pupils.

I’ve tried 2 different homemade hummus recipes, and for the cost of the ingredients, you can buy the factory made for a lot cheaper. And it tastes better. Chummus and challah are two things I leave to the professionals.

    bp yidd,

Why should we view NK as frum? Because they wear funny hats?

Nobody is not picking on them because of their low number of adherents, but rather because of their actions.

I’ve never made the comparison, but it seems there are similar aspects in both NK and WBC. Both protest against entities and individuals the mainstream portion of their respective religions typically leave alone.

They are Christians that live by the bible, with a focus on Vayikra 18.

They are well known for execising their first amendment rights, protesting at various events, including funerals of military members. Their rationale is that these military members supported a government that condones and allows for gay people to live.

    147,

I’m not sure why you mention Rav Miller. Whether I met him or did not meet him has little importance to the issue I presented in the OP.

Similarly, I don’t understand why you mention Mike Bloomberg. I am not for the eradication of all guns from the US.

Murderers (and all criminals) should be brought to justice. However, revenge is not justice.

Keep your posts on topic please.

Perhaps it’s because the gedolim of previous generations understood cost-benefit analysis of organized kiruv.

What’s hard to believe? You don’t know where I live. Or if the issue I raised is even prevalent in my community.

And, its not the first thing I thought of, just one thing down the line which came to mind. Although it may not have been the first thing to come to mind, being the fourth or fifth thing in no way discredits the seriousness of the situation.

Kiruv should be performed by individuals. Hosting people at one’s home for the entirety of shabbos is a good kiruv idea. Perhaps meeting with someone for a chavrusa.

Having a mixed event at which inevitable issurim will occur should not be any torah Jew’s idea of “kiruv.”

    Syag,

Are YOU for real? How many frum Jews will come to events like these for the sole purpose of socializing/potential gilui arayos? Not worth it for some questionably Jewish individuals not taking out their iphones for an hour during shabbos davening, only to go home to call and text their friends and family to let them know how great shabbos is.
