True… which job does pay in today’s climate?

At the end of the day, if someone is a good social worker, b’derech hateva, they will have business. Good clinical social workers can charge over $300 a session. Good casework management social workers can climb up the ladder to become part of the agency’s administration and make nice money. Social workers can be administrators of non-profit organizations and government agencies and make a beautiful living.

The market may be swarming and over flooded, but the good merchandise will definitely get bought most of the time…

I’m in the process of getting my masters in social work, and did a lot of research on all the questions you are asking:

For most if not all programs, you need to major in social work or psychology in your Bachelors.

I know of a nice few Jewish people who do Fordham, which has an online option. It’s a great on-campus program, so the online program isn’t disregarded as junk, unlike many online-only programs.

Two online universities which are supposed to be top-notch are UCS (great curriculum, prestigious, very high standards, but also very expensive) and Simmonds, but you would have to do research on how compatible they are for a frum person.

You can take Rebbetzin Bulka’s program in New York or Israel. The social work program only meets once a week, on Sunday, for a full day, so you can commute. It’s an amazing program and you can specialize. (The Drug and Alcohol specialization at LIU is supposed to be their best program. It’s known nationally for being top in that field.) You can try to get an exception and Skype classes elsewhere, but I don’t know of anyone who got such an agreement.

    Good luck with your decisions!

It is pretty much unheard of, but there could be some people who marry into Stolin from other Chassiduses or become Stolin who retain their previous levush. I sometimes dropped into Stolin shul, and can’t think of a single person who wore chassidishe peyos or white socks. Shtreimels are somewhat more common.

The reason Chabad davens after zman tefillah is not because they wake up late, but because they learn (after saying birchas Hatorah) Chassidus before davening to enhance their kavanah during davening.

Many great Chassidishe Rebbes and Chassidim of old davened after zman tefillah because of their intense hachanos for tefillah.

If you’re talking about Rabbi Bistritzky’s hechsher there, there are two different ones, blue and white. One of them is supposed to be good and acceptable, the other one not so much, but I don’t remember which one is what. Good luck!

Stoliner women in the States can drive. A lot of them do. They mostly wear black tights in the winter, nude/natural in the summer, though some are stringent to only wear black. They start learning secular studies in first grade, like most conventional schools. Many bochurim drive. Levush-wise, most men wear up hats, litvish style peyos, and long frocks. The women are makpid to wear only full length sleeves. In general, they are the bridge between the yeshivish and chassidish world, having a Rebbe and chassidish minhagim with a mostly yeshivish lifestyle. There is a very strong emphasis on learning, and most men are in kollel. They are also homo sapiens, breathe in oxygen and carbon dioxide and exhale the CO2, most of them have ears, eyes and lips like other chassidim, noses and hands just like litvaks, and fingernails and legs just like sephardim.
