I am also applying for my oldest daughter. We applied to 8 schools and have not been accepted to any, so count your blessings, and make your decision quickly so the school you are not sending to can give the slot to another family.

After reading through this thread, I feel that I have to say that I worked in 3 different frum girls’ schools over a period of two years. I was paid every month, on time, and when I worked overtime, I was paid extra as well. No, the schools were not rich (at least two of them are known for lack of funds), but they know that the key to good chinuch is having teachers who are happy to be working for them. I truly feel for the people who have had negative experiences working in chinuch, but I must say that I really enjoyed it.

Gavra_at_work: A school that teaches Torah should stay open as long as it is able to. Only competent daas Torah can decided that the cons of staying open outweigh the benefits of teaching Torah.

Just to stick my two cents in, I think if we would all remember the point oomis just brought out, we would have a lot less sin’as chinam and we would bring Mashiach a lot faster.

Two of them are Thomas Jefferson and John Quincy Adams. I don’t know who the third was.

In a house with all southern exposure – that would have to be at the North Pole, so the bear would be a polar bear.

Mine’s short for Giving Performer, a personality type bestowed on me by an online personality quiz – which is not correct, by the way. I just liked the sound of it. 🙂

The only president who ruled for 2 non-consecutive terms is (I believe) Grover Cleveland.

I have two sweet kugel recipes that it sounds like you haven’t tried: Pineapple kugel and a peach pie, which is actually listed under the kugel section in the cookbook!

    Pineapple kugel:

    1 can crushed pineapple

    4 eggs

    1/2 cup oil

    1/2 cup flour

    1 pkg vanilla sugar

    1/2 cup sugar

    1/2 tsp baking powder

Preheat oven to 350. Combine all ingredients (mixer not necessary). Pour into a greased 9-inch pan. Bake 45-50 minutes or until top is brown.

Variation: sprinkle cinnamon on top before baking for added flavor!

    This one is really good!

    Peach pie:

Sliced canned peaches (about 2 1/2 peaches)

    1 T. lemon juice

    2 eggs

    1 stick margarine

    1 cup sugar

    1 cup flour

    1 tsp. baking powder

    1 pkg vanilla sugar.

Arrange sliced peaches in a layer on the bottom of a 9-inch round pan. Mix lemon juice and sugar and pour over peaches. Combine remaining ingredients to form a batter and pour on top. Flatten slightly (but don’t drive yourself crazy like I did the first time I made this – it flattens on its own during baking).

Bake at 350 for 10 minutes, uncovered. Cover and continue to bake for an additional hour.
