giggle girlParticipant
Thank you but yes I did try that and surprisingly I didn’t find anything! I even searched other spelling variations of the last name like yeshivaguy45 did. He was my great-great-great grandfather and I would really like to learn more about him but unfortunately there’s no one left in my family I know of to ask. The only thing is what my father told me, that the Bobov Rebbe served my Zaidy tea when he was learning with his talmud, the Bobov Rebbe’s father, the first Bobov Rebbe. The second Bobov Rebbe told that to my father directly so that’s all I know.
giggle girlParticipantI need the quality to be in vector format (basically a format that I can edit – you can’t edit with JPG and the like.) But I actually just worked my way around my problem by pasting it into Microsoft Word, saving it as a PDF, and then opening the PDF in Adobe Illustrator and bringing it into the artwork.
But thank you anyway!!! I really appreciate your willingness to help 🙂
giggle girlParticipantSam2 – thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
To everyone else – that’s exactly why I asked for the story. Please read my first sentence in the longer paragraph. I didn’t want to say anything incorrectly. Please don’t jump at everyone for things they say in the coffee room (which I notice many people do). Thank you.
giggle girlParticipantWow! I haven’t been here in a while!
Well, today I baked Challah for the very first time (I baked it with my mother) – let’s see how it comes out! I also baked a cake, peanut butter blossom cookies, an ice cream sandwich cookie cake, and now, I will IY”H start on a deli wrap! YUM!!! All L’Kavod Shabbos!
Have a great Shabbos everyone 🙂
giggle girlParticipantI just read Delayed Reaction by Yair Weinstock – IT’S AMAZING! It’s so good I couldn’t put the book down! I think I’m going to read it again! I absolutely love it! Although it is sad…
giggle girlParticipantHealth – I don’t mean to be disrespectful, but I really think you can talk (or type rather) to Gefen with some mentchlachkeit. I personally understand both sides of the story, but I have to stick up for the one who writes with decency. Unfortunately, I can’t say that you are doing so. Klal Yisroel is in a time of tzarus – as we have been many times before. I don’t think writing the way you are will help our situation any. So I ask you, as well as others who may talk harshly to others, to please try to speak softly – with civility. Before you speak, please be careful that it won’t hurt others. I don’t mean for you to stop speaking your thoughts, but to do it in a respectful manner.
giggle girlParticipantI can’t stand when I tell a story that happened a while ago and someone responds by saying “Oh yeah! Do you remember that?!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Nope. I don’t.
giggle girlParticipantvery clever goq!!!
giggle girlParticipantshticky – that is adorable! where did you get this from? who wrote it? it’s genius!
giggle girlParticipantYW Moderator-42: “Can you drink a whole bottle of Gefen?”
I BET GEFEN CAN!!!!!!!!!!! 😉
giggle girlParticipantWhy would we need lighting if there was a big beautiful stone window that sent light outside from within? Wouldn’t we just use that stone again? I learned (if I’m not mistaken) that the curve of the window brought the Shechina’s light outside the Bais HaMikdash to the rest of the world. There was so much light inside the Bais HaMikdash already!
giggle girlParticipantHow about:
Ha-Shem gave us a present do you know what it was?
He gave us the Torah, and we must keep it’s laws…….
giggle girlParticipantWay to go Gabie!!!
I love the fact that Jews today are still speaking Yiddish. It kind of shows that no matter where we are, whether it’s Eretz Yisroel, America, England, France… or anywhere, we never forget who we are. Yiddish is mostly German mixed in with the language of wherever you live and Lashon Ha’Kodesh – but always Lashon Ha’Kodesh. That part is not just in Eretz Yisroel – it’s everywhere. “Torah” in Yiddish is always “Torah”. Is it not?
giggle girlParticipantsorry i didn’t mean it that way. i didn’t mean he is mashiach – i just thought it was cool that it’s his initials.
giggle girlParticipantThe Gematria of Abaya – Alef, Bais, Yud, and Yud. 1+2+10+10=23!!! (I think that’s how it’s spelled anyway.)
giggle girlParticipantIt all depends on how many teams you need.
giggle girlParticipantSee thread: Who feels bad for the moderators!
Thank you a million!
giggle girlParticipantWould you like some Pesukim? Koheles and Mishlei have quite a bunch!
“Ish Raiim L’Hisroaiah V’Yaish Ohev Davek Meach” – this one is just one from Mishlei. If you look through more, you’ll find many more! Hatzlocha!
giggle girlParticipantmochoh timche – You had me in mind, no? I can sense it.
giggle girlParticipantThank you, brotherofurs, for sticking up for me and understanding me.
Mochoh timcheh – I don’t know if you read a certain part of my post. I picked up different bits and pieces from different places who all had sources. I am not going to look up every single source and quote them all on what they said. If you would like, and if you would ask me kindly, maybe I will look some of them up. It may take quite a bit of time to look through many notebooks of mine, but if you would really like me to then maybe I will.
giggle girlParticipantI just saw a bus driver in the bus stop (out of service) she was reading a book – not on a kindle – a real book! the kind you turn pages in! so no, i don’t think they will become obsolete.
giggle girlParticipantmochoh timche – are you talking about my hachnosas orchim comment? because if you are, that is a rude comment. it was not anti halachik. i hope you weren’t talking about this (although i doubt it).
ATTENTION EVERYONE ELSE HERE: I AM NOT USUALLY THIS STRONG IN MY COMMENTS. HOWEVER, WHEN IT COMES TO MEAN COMMENTS, I DON’T TOLERATE THEM. I’M SORRY FOR SOUNDING RUDE.
giggle girlParticipantWell, excuse me, mochoh timcheh! Did I mention anywhere in my post that I have my PHD (Posekes HaDor)? I said it was my opinion (yes, based on things I have learned in school and out). I picked up different pieces from different teachers and different places out of school. “In my opinion” means that I am not a Rabbi nor a Rebbetzin, and I cannot say any more than my own opinion. That is why I told people to correct me – and I meant in a nice manner.
1)Am I not entitled to my own opinion?
2)Read the title – does it not say “what does bitachon mean to YOU”?
3)Are you popa bar abba with a different name?
giggle girlParticipantWelcome mitzvahgirl613! It’s always nice to do some Hachnosas Orchim! Thank you for allowing us all to do a Mitzvah! (No pun intended)
Contrary to “Popa”lar’s belief, Chicago people are not crazy. Just clearing things up a bit.
Well, anyway, welcome and I hope you enjoy!
giggle girlParticipantLife is like a piano: it has white days and black ones – but if you know how to play it makes a beautiful song!
I told you I love music (check the “What’s your favorite” thread)!
giggle girlParticipantAlmost any slow song! They are all so beautiful! The slow English ones are really meaningful also! Just sit down with any song, and look at the meaning! It’s amazing to just understand what you are listening to or singing!
Can you tell I love to sing?!!!!!!!!! Well, if you couldn’t tell, I do! I absolutely LOVE SINGING!!!!!!!! MUSIC IS MY FAVORITE!!!!!!
giggle girlParticipantJust remember: when you are testing your skirt when you are sitting, don’t pull it down a lot before you sit because that’s just not honest. Just sit down as you always do. That makes sure it’s completely tzniusdik – yes, even if it’s 3.5 inches below the knee. It might be just fine. I once had a skirt that was 2 inches below the knee but it was still tzniusdik (until I grew of course ;)).
giggle girlParticipantIn my opinion, Bitachon is definition number two.
“We’re in the hands of Ha-Shem, and we can do all we can, but the end result is up to Him.”
Now, the difference between Emunah and Bitachon is that Emunah is our belief, and Bitachon is how we show our belief through our actions. Yet we must have them both. One cannot stand without the other. A person cannot do things just to show to others that he believes if deep down he does not really believe. However, one cannot believe without doing things to prove his belief, because he must do his Hishtadlus. Ha-Shem will only do if we show Him we really want him to do. And even then, He might not do as we want, because Ha-Shem knows what’s best.
This is only my opinion on the matter. I am not saying I’m right or wrong. Please tell me if you believe otherwise.

Boy, was I tired afterwards!
giggle girlParticipantexcuse me!!!!!!!!!!!!! the coffee room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it goes nicely with the bread too 😉
April 6, 2012 4:39 pm at 4:39 pm in reply to: The Longest Seder ContestHow Late Will Your Seder End? #1199584giggle girlParticipantWell, my family ends late!
It’s so amazing to hear the birds chirping in the wee hours of the morning. First it gets really dark. As the Seder goes on, night goes on, too. Soon enough we start to see the sun peeking out of the darkness. The moon begins to fade away giving way to the brilliance of the sun. It beautifully enhances and concludes our Seder!
Not only are we remembering a Nes that happened to us many years ago and reliving it, but we are also experiencing a daily Nes that we don’t always get to see. Mah Rabu Maasecha Ha-Shem!
giggle girlParticipantMiddlePath:
Yes. Bataampt means pleasant, respectful, and refined. Ask him in a way that shows you are really curious and not in a manner that may hint to disgust towards the picture.
April 5, 2012 7:21 pm at 7:21 pm in reply to: Why dont high school girls no how to spell and right ? #866170giggle girlParticipantThe Goq:
I’m not only talking about high school girls and boys. I should really have typed: “Are men any better?”
I have seen men’s writing, and the spelling and grammar are horrible there, too.
giggle girlParticipantMaybe ask a family member in a bataampte manner why he is wearing a cross. Perhaps there is some really good reason. I mean relatively good. There may just be a really meaningful story behind the picture. We won’t know until we ask. Ask a family member. You never know. We all might be quite surprised to find out. Please tell us what happens! I’m curious to know.
Hatzlocha Rabba U’Merubah!
giggle girlParticipantAny questioning has an answer in Yiddishkeit. We might not know the answers to every question, but there is at least one answer to each question. Don’t get me wrong. It’s not right to ask in a rebellious way or any inappropriate way. However, there is always an answer.
April 4, 2012 11:41 pm at 11:41 pm in reply to: Why dont high school girls no how to spell and right ? #866159giggle girlParticipantI went to a Bais Yaakov school, and I would like to give you my humble opinion. I do believe that texting might have a lot to do with the problem of bad spelling. However, I don’t believe it has everything to do with it. Girls in my class who don’t text a lot are not necessarily the bad spellers. In fact, one particular girl asked me to proofread her report and the spelling was horrible. This is a girl who probably never even texted once yet. I have read other girls’ work – girls who do text (often) – and the spelling and grammar was much better.
In conclusion, I don’t believe texting is the whole issue. Perhaps some of the problem is whether the girls care about spelling and grammar or not. I do care about them. I know I’m not perfect, and I make many mistakes, but at least I try. Some girls don’t.
I’m wondering: are boys any better?
giggle girlParticipantWolfishMusings:
Who worships keys? I’ll tell you! Bnei Yisroel.
Source: In Parshas Ki Sisa Perek Lamed Beis Passuk Zayin it states:
Va’Yedaber Ha-Shem El Moshe “Lech Reid KEY Shicheis Amcha…”
How was Bnei Yisroel “Shicheis”? By the Eigel (however you spell it in English – the golden calf) which was gold – hence a GOLDEN KEY! 😉
giggle girlParticipantwow! this is amazing and so inspiring! a real eye-opener! thanks!
giggle girlParticipantback to the question: i learned that we do have bechira! definitely. however, the bechira is between good and bad. if something is neither good nor bad, then no we do not have bechira. for instance, deciding whether to paint your room blue or green – in this kind of situation we do not have bechira in what will be in the end.
it could be that i misunderstood my teacher, however, this is what i got out of it. please forgive me if i misunderstood.
giggle girlParticipantI LOVE CHANUKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT’S THE BEST!!!!!!!! i listen to Chanuka music, make Chanuka decorations, and talk (and sing) about it all day and night long! We do have a small Chanuka party just for family (sometimes a friend). but i love the menorah, the dreidels, the songs, the miracle story behind it all, and the whole CHANUKA CHEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
giggle girlParticipanti think if someone’s a righty they spin it clockwise with their right hand. if someone’s a lefty they spin it counterclockwise with their left hand. am i right?
i mostly use my right but sometimes i have fun and use my left.
giggle girlParticipantmazel tov!
giggle girlParticipantpersonally, i think it depends on the individual. some people might not have a good parnassa and hidur mitzvah is spending more money on the menorah (the pre-made oil and wicks). it is expensive and this might be the way they choose to do hidur mitzvah. in my opinion, these look really nice with all the different colors! however, if someone has the money and it’s no big deal if they spend it on this, then perhaps getting a little dirty from the oil is the way they would do hidur mitzvah. you make your choice and someone else will make his/her own!
A FREILECHIN CHANNUKA!!!
giggle girlParticipantpersonally, i loved looking things up in sefarim! granted, i did find it hard many times but i really feel i learned a lot from it.
giggle girlParticipantfirst of all, i’m still here B”H!
second of all, refuah shelaima bekitzur!

giggle girlParticipantAmein, gumball!!!! all the best to you too!
giggle girlParticipantgumball – i so love your new subtitle! it’s so you!
good job mods!
p.s. – don’t change mine again (for now) please because i like it!
giggle girlParticipantall of Klal Yisroel is mourning. we have been for the past few months already! when is Mashiach coming?! have we not waited long enough? have we not gone through enough tzaros? what have we done and what are we doing to deserve this?!
let’s all bli neder take upon something to help this situation!
i’ll start:
bli neder i’ll try to learn something (maybe something in chumash) on friday night after lighting candles. i have not been learning Ha-Shem’s Torah – a treasure which He gave to us – so much lately unfortunately. i can learn a lot from it – such as ways to improve my midos.
giggle girlParticipantoh ok so um – hi?! how are you?
