gefenParticipant
ursula – now ur on to something 😉
and amen to your bracha – same to you.
gefenParticipantweasleylove: do you have a rebbetzin or a mentor you can speak with? you asked if you should start with the strictest opinion since you are just starting out with this. obviously i’m no posek (posekes? 🙂 ) but i would imagine you could start off more leniently (in this case anyway, not all areas of religion are open to leniency). are you not comfortable wearing knee highs as long as your skirt is long enough? i’m not trying to persuade you chas v’shalom to do something less than you want to – i’m just asking. i myself wear knee highs even in winter cuz i just hate the feel of tights. but anyway – you’d be best off asking someone who knows a lot more than i do. hatzlacha to you. you sound like a wonderful girl.
gefenParticipantursula – candy613 is not my daughter. but good guess. but i do know her. funny thing is she has no idea who i am on here. she’ll prob read the post and wonder who it is.
and btw – yeah i do speak with my daughters at home not just on cr 🙂 we B”H have a great relationship!
gefenParticipantI also would like to speak with (can’t say meet – i actually did know her) Reb. Vichna Kaplan A”H. She was my teacher in seminary. Amazing woman!!!
Rebbetzin Esther Jungreis sounds like someone I’d like to meet also.
gefenParticipantoops – i didn’t mean to say that you don’t have any logic – i was just using ur expression.
gefenParticipantDovid S – “You don’t create threads by not creating threads!”
how about – you don’t NOT create threads by creating threads.
did that make any sense? so dovid s – don’t worry about ur logic. i’m not sure i have any either.
gefenParticipantCandy613 – actually i did DISCOVER you weren’t here. but i know ur busy with finals and all 😉 (shhh – besides, i hear about you anyway cuz….. i’ll let u figure that out)
gefenParticipantursula- we could wear burkas
gefenParticipantbtw – we accept anniversary gifts (coming up later this month) – but i’m still waiting for him to propose. does his proposal on the cr count?
gefenParticipantLOL
gefenParticipantum – pac man – i can’t tell if ur serious or joking. he’s the one who’s upset about not being allowed to attend our – oops – his daughter’s graduation.
gefenParticipantok – i’d love to meet chaplaintzvi, yummycupcake, and prettyinpink.
how ’bout also – mother in israel, adorable, zeeskite, the wolf, and many others too.
about ppl outside the cr – um…still have to think about that.
i think the avos and imahos and moshe rabbeinu.
gefenParticipantmother in Israel – i was going to say the same thing you did.
as far as everyone wanting to meet others on the cr – i have a GREAT idea. why don’t we have a cr convention? we’ll all come with name tags. we’ll have it at a really fancy place, best caterer etc.!
oh wait – that would take away from the anonymity of the cr – oh well – good idea while it lasted. lol 🙂
k – i really have to think about 2 ppl i’d like to meet. when/if i come up with an answer, i’ll be back. i know, i know, y’all can’t wait.
gefenParticipantNO MY POSTS NEVER REFLECT MY MOOD!!! – NOW STOP ASKING ME DUMB QUESTIONS!!! I DON’T FEEL LIKE ANSWERING YOU!!! K?
LOL – JK
If I’m in a bad mood, i don’t usually post. I will admit that if while I’m posting, someone gets me angry, that does show. Actually I think that only happened on one thread as some of you might know. But otherwise, I think i post in a pretty friendly good manner. i hope?
gefenParticipantis anyone from bp reading this now LOL 😉
gefenParticipantchoc – funny you mention blood test. i just had one on friday. waiting to hear results. many times, i’m anemic so i wonder if that’s my prob now.
anyway, thanks for being so thoughtful to mention it. i really appreciate it.
gefenParticipantgog – would i lie? 🙁
ursula – we also use fah-mished when we’re hungry.
i like the farfetched word. cute.
i know we use others but right now i can’t think of them. i’ll need my daughters’ help.
gefenParticipantgog – i was going to start a thread with the EXACT SAME TITLE- isn’t that AMAZING? jk
it is a cute thread though.
i say funcused when i’m confused – i know that’s not mixed with yiddish – i just like the sound of it.
gefenParticipantmother in israel – refuah shelayma.
chocandpatience – i don’t have a newborn either but i sure can use some rest! i’m always tired. you would think i actually work hard 😉
so i come here for some caffeine to keep me awake (wow -that was bad – no comments on that corny one please)
May 31, 2011 7:24 pm at 7:24 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778630gefenParticipantSmartcookie – DO TESHUVA NOW! 😉
RedNails19 – so……. ur getting engaged to him, right? can i come to the vort? 😉
gefenParticipantRight Zeeskite!
gefenParticipantRabbiDoctor – LOL
Mother In Israel – keep posting. I’ll miss you if you stop. but i know what you mean. things at my home are put on the back burner too. but you know what – we need some down time to just chill and have fun. btw – how are you feeling?
gefenParticipantPac Man – who’s the competitor? not me, i hope.
Coffee Addict – sorry about that! i didn’t mean to step on ur territory. 😉
gefenParticipantPac Man – very interesting. So does that mean that milk here in the U.S. is in essence all cholov yisroel? Or am i also confused now?
whatelseisleft – i’m with you – CONFUSED
gefenParticipantalways – yes that would be something if they had known each other. my mother A”H was also beloved by all and is missed very much.
sof – i had to work today also. oh well. that’s life.
gefenParticipantI always thought that Akum meant mamash treif (ex: containing pig milk, lard etc) while Stam just meant not Cholov Yisroel but has a reliable hechsher and is kosher. Those who hold only cholov yisroel wouldn’t eat it but that doesn’t make it treif. At least that’s how i understand it.
gefenParticipantalways – my mother also worked in the bklyn navy yard. i wonder if she knew your parents. my parents were married in may of 1947 or 1948 (oy – i’m embarrassed that i don’t remember) Anyway they were married QUITE A NUMBER OF YEARS before i came along – won’t say how many years – i don’t want anyone calculating my age. 😉
estherhamalka – yup the sun came out the next day and today our temps are in the 90’s!!! we experienced 4 seasons in one week here! ok – we didn’t have snow but it was cold enough.
gefenParticipantisn’t popa a grandpa already?
gefenParticipanthappy bday to prettyinpink!!! how old are you now? how old are you now? …… 🙂
gefenParticipantOK – so – my daughter just turned 20 – are they saying she’s OLD? she should have been married by now?? oh no!! so if there are any shadchanim or eligible young men out there……. 🙂
yes she is certainly looking forward to finding her bashert and building a bayis ne’eman b’yisroel, but she’s certainly not worried about it! IY”H in the right time. We’ll let u know when there’s a mazal tov.
gefenParticipantaries – Mazal Tov – lots of nachas
estherhamalka – i guess where YOU are it’s a beautiful day. WE started out with thunderstorms and pouring rain. it was so dark out all day that it looked like night! now (7:00 pm) it’s finally not raining but still looks gloomy. so what did we do today? NOTHING – and love it. sometimes we all need a day to just do nothing. 🙂
gefenParticipantontheball – never heard of st moritz – will look for it
itchesrulik – i did think of nail polish remover – maybe i’ll try that too.
thanks everyone.
May 29, 2011 7:23 pm at 7:23 pm in reply to: what was your first memory and how old were you? #778622gefenParticipantI remember being in my mother’s womb. so cozy. really nicely decorated!
seriously though – i think i vaguely remember the first apartment we lived it – we moved out when i was 2. we have very few pics of that apartment so i really think it is from memory. i also remember the day we moved when i was 2 – i remember the empty bookcase in the living room and i crawled into the bottom shelf and thought it was so much fun.
i also remember some days in kindergarten.
problem is…… i can’t remember yesterday LOL
gefenParticipantminyan gal – thanks – i will do a google search. but i figured i’d check with my reliable friends here on the cr first. 🙂
mother in Israel – thanks – i will try the dish soap and alcohol.
I realize I should have taken care of this much sooner. Hopefully, it’s not to late to fix it.
gefenParticipantBaruch Hashem – may she continue to get better.
Refuah Shelayma!
gefenParticipantMother in Israel – there’s not much more to be said than what the other posters have already said. Mazel Tov on your new addition. May you have lots of nachas from all your children. Remember you are not the only one to experience these feelings. It’s normal. It will go away. If you’re really worried, talk to your doctor. But given everything you said – having a baby 9 days ago, getting pneumonia, etc. I think it’s a normal reaction. Also accept any help offered to you – even ask for help. You do need your rest for your own sake as well as that of your family.
My first child was colicky – I was up 24/7 for the first few weeks. It was exhausting. Of course I cried – cuz i was so tired and weak. But i always kept in mind what a blessing it was to have a beautiful healthy child. Now my kids are grown – and Baruch Hashem they are wonderful. We now look forward to the next stage – weddings, grandchildren etc IY”H.
So – just remember – Gam Zeh Yaavor – the crying and feeling sick, I mean – The nachas should continue Ad Meah V’esrim.
Whenever you feel badly – just come to the cr so ur friends here can give you emotional support. It will help! (after all, this advise comes from someone from the LES – you know how great that is, your husband is from there) 🙂
gefenParticipantayc – LOL
gefenParticipantAlways runs: I cannot believe you are a trouble maker – except when you run fast with scissors! 😉 Anyway i found your post very interesting – enjoyed it.
Shlishi – i saw that article a couple of years ago – in fact someone had given me a copy of it. as soon as i saw some posts here, it reminded me of that very article.
gefenParticipantcoffee addict: “Can’t eat fruits and VEGGIES…. insecticides and herbicides”. Grains probably have bugs. so we’re still holding out for chocolate.
gefenParticipantalways runs fast – it’s nice to try to put on a happy face. but can you really do that all the time? surely he knows that we all get upset or sad sometimes. does he always put on a happy face for you even when he’s in a really bad mood?
don’t get me wrong – i’m not trying to ruin your shalom bayis – chas v’shalom! in fact if you really live that way – kol hakovod to you. but i just think that most of us show our emotions at times. that’s just the reality of life. what’s important is that the couple should be able to handle any situations that come their way and keep the shalom bayis in tact.
also – is it really possible to always have the house in tip top shape, a platter of snacks and tea ready, and supper ready on time, prepare his lunch for the next day, etc. etc.? if so , please give me some tips. i feel exausted just thinking about it 🙂
gefenParticipantR Shmuel – ok so should women be flattered or insulted by what you wrote?
It’s a compliment that “No man is capable of doing it remotely as well as a woman even if he tried…” The only part is that the “it” refers to kvetching. hmmm! I think “it” can mean so many other things as well – like, say — cooking, cleaning, taking care of the kids, and just being wonderful wives and mothers. Not to mention so many other talents we have. 🙂
gefenParticipantI also read the book 2020. interesting how they refer to a muslim president. this was before obama was even running. anyway it was an amazing book.
gefenParticipantalways runs fast – i dunno – i think his books might scare the poor little children. 😉
gefenParticipanta woman outside bklyn – good idea to contact the station.
May 26, 2011 12:54 pm at 12:54 pm in reply to: HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY TO YESHIVA WORLD NEWS ?????!!! #772003gefenParticipantMazal Tov! Gr8 job! Keep it up!
gefenParticipantZeeskite – I just loved your post! 🙂
gefenParticipantbtw- i still don’t know how to bold or italicize. can someone please explain it to me? (in simple terms 🙂 )
gefenParticipant“As far as this issue, yes it happened, and they were condemned by all the gedolim.”
Yet they’re still doing it?
Also – even if they feel it’s more tznius – why would they want to look like muslims? there are other ways to be extremely tznius- no?
gefenParticipantmybat – mazal tov!
have anyone for my daughter? 😉
gefenParticipantOH – so men never kvetch or kvitch? 😉
