gefenParticipant
anyone would pay to go out with MY daughters. the guys don’t have to be bribed!
and HSBY??? don’t even mention that school on the cr!! tsk tsk! cant compare with BYHSC – don’t worry JK – HSBY is a GR8 school!!!! In fact my girls have many friends who went there. i was just trolling – i think i learned that from s/o here 😉
anyone realize that we are way off the original topic here? it should be renamed – “the chicago thread” or somthing like that.
gefenParticipantpopa – i’m not defensive. i never said there’s anything wrong with being a telsher (chas v’shalom). i’m just stating a fact. i certainly would not be denying it if we were telshers. just because we lived south of peterson doesn’t mean anything. does the fact that my daughters went to byhsc also mean we’re telsers? i don’t think so. my son does not go to telshe yeshiva. (you should know that from a previous post) anyway – i think ur just trying to be funny or ur trolling. so i’ll just let you have ur fun 😉
so anyway – i better be nice and be careful – after all – i have a daughter starting out in the parsha and another one not far behind. 🙂 any of you chicagoans here happen to be shadchanim? 😉
gefenParticipantmidwesterner – have you figured out who i am? i’ve given many hints on other threads. (my husband also posts here – under his own screen name of course. my kids are on here too- hence my subtitle)
btw – we have known the bloomenkranz family for many years. in fact a couple of our kids are friends. tema weiner a’h was in the same class as my mother in law.
popa – we are not telshers – why do you insist we are?
gefenParticipantGoq – i am really surprised that ur post went through!!
mods – what gives?
gefenParticipantPopa – i beg to differ! we are not telshers but we did live south of peterson- about 2 blocks south – not near foster. we davened at the agudah and then by bais ushi. AND we are NOT nobody! Should i take back our invitation for a Shabbos meal? 😉 after all, you wouldn’t want to eat by a nobody, would you?
gefenParticipantgoq and midwesterner – hi neighbors. we lived in peterson park for 4 years then hollywood park for a few years and now we are in west rogers park. although i must say there’s no place like the lower east side!!! (new york – of course)
gefenParticipantpopa – if there’s nobody normal here, why do you keep coming back? besides, if i’m not mistaken, you’re already married, no? possibly with grandchildren? Anyway why the reference to dating here? i don’t see that anyone asked you that question, unless i missed it.
baalhabooze – absolutely – the shofars here have the HOLY chicaahgo accent. you should come and experience it some time. gevaldig!!!
gefenParticipantPopa – ah – Peterson Park Kolel. That’s where my son’s Yesahiva is.
Are you allowed to give a hint as to where you stayed? How long will you be here this time? coming back anytime soon?
gefenParticipantPopa – you’re here again? why didn’t u tell us? we would have had you over for a meal. ya gotta let us know next time. so anyway, where did you daven this time?
gefenParticipantnotice how personality hasn’t written again. hmmmmm. busted!
gefenParticipantSyag – I don’t think you have the wrong reasons at all. A lot of us want to see our relatives who are no longer with us. I’m sure you also have other reasons for wanting him to come – like living in Eretz Yisroel in peace. But as I said, we probably all have our own personal reasons as well. It’s only human.
You’ve had a lot happen to you in the past few years. I had met your mother a number of times and she was a very special person. I also met your sister a couple of times – also a very special person – as are you and your whole family. May you only know simchas from now on.
September 14, 2011 12:33 am at 12:33 am in reply to: Opinion: Is Israel on the Brink of War? #809197gefenParticipantaries – do you really think writing to the white house would help? our own president is against us.
gefenParticipantshmoel – you don’t think there are ultra frum anywhere else? here in chicago we actually do see some shtreimels and even veisa zoken. I’ll admit it’s not like ny but we do have it.
i must also admit that being a new yorker myself, i never thought there were frum communities oot. in fact in camp and seminary when a girl said she was from “place x” we would always be surprised and ask “wow – they really have frum ppl in that city?” even so, we couldn’t imagine they knew as much about frumkeit as we did. how naive we were!
i also never thought i would live anywhere else but ny. but like they say “never say never”.
bein hasdorim – i like ur example about the green light. unfortunately though, i’ve been seeing more and more impatient honking here than i used to. i think the ny mentality has reached here 😉
queen bee – i’m not sure where i fit in either. in fact just recently we were discussing the possibility of moving back east. why don’t u feel u don’t fit in ny? what are u looking for? maybe if you give us an idea, someone here on the cr might have some suggestions.
gefenParticipantWith all that’s been going on in the world lately, and all the talk about us being in the footsteps of Moshiach, it’s hard not to think about it. But can I honestly say it’s on my mind constantly? – no. Am i sitting here in anticipation and trepidation? not really. I know it sounds terrible. But I guess I’m not on such a high madrayga. I think it’s also because we don’t really know what to expect and also the idea of a war of Gog U’magog sounds so scary – who wants to really think about it? I guess I go back and forth on this topic. It would certainly be wonderful to live in a world of peace with Moshiach as our leader and of course we’d all be in Eretz Yisroel. It’s just… we don’t know what we will have to go through before that. So i guess as humans we just go about our regular daily routine.
Since it’s Elul now – let’s all try to improve ourselves as much as possible and daven very hard that the coming of Moshiach will not first bring about disaster. May we all merit the coming of Moshiach very very soon.
September 13, 2011 1:56 pm at 1:56 pm in reply to: I am the youngest on the CR anyone nearly 13 and a half?? #811312gefenParticipantShticky Guy – that was funny!
gefenParticipanti always heard there’s a shayla about washing your hands (negel vaser, hamotzei) if there’s a crack in the nail polish. but if there’s no crack it’s ok. only problem is, many times, there can be a slight crack that u don’t notice.
otherwise, as far as tznius, like yummy said, if it’s not attention getting then what’s the problem?
gefenParticipantreba – you in chicago?
gefenParticipanthe’s still hiding in chicago. he just loved it here too much to leave.
September 12, 2011 10:53 pm at 10:53 pm in reply to: Am I the oldest person in the CR. Anyone else nearly 50 #810389gefenParticipantBPT – i just went on that website and took the test. choices of answers could have been better. sometimes i wasn’t really sure how to answer ie: if they had another choice, i would have picked it. did you feel the same way?
anyway, it did tell me i am about 3 yrs younger than i really am and life expectancy is 84.
but i’m still not telling anyone here my real age 😉
September 11, 2011 3:46 am at 3:46 am in reply to: write a grammatically correct sentence with the word 'and' 5 times consecutively #808309gefenParticipantI think LBK wins. 😉
gefenParticipantmiddlepath – so how do you know the chosson? we are his cousin.
gefenParticipantmaybe i am allowed to say that the choson is from chicago and the kallah from detroit.
gefenParticipantWhat video? what are we talking about here? can someone please fill us in?
gefenParticipantgeshamkke – pics aren’t up on OS. the wedding was just the other night. i don’t know if they will post any, anyway.
their engagement is on there, but i’m sure i’m not allowed to give out any names. sorry.
gefenParticipantcollegegrad – i think my post may have been confusing. i am originally from ny (not brooklyn, though) and now i live in the midwest. but, anyway, i hope you’re enjoying flatbush.
gefenParticipantlots of midwesterners here too. but i fall into both categories. i’m from ny and now live here.
gefenParticipantthere’s a great yeshiva right here in chicago. Yeshivas Meor HaTorah.
gefenParticipantpopa – the reason your thread was falling off the page is because you haven’t answered me in a while. 🙂 jk – of course!
September 4, 2011 7:34 pm at 7:34 pm in reply to: Who believes the Talking Fish Story from 2003? #805803gefenParticipantapushiteyid – LOL – really funny!
anyway – this is so freaky cuz my daughters and i were just talking about it this morning (after not having spoken or heard about it in a very long time)and now – this thread shows up! so now that’s proof enough for us that it really happened! but seriously, at the time of the story, my husband asked his rav if he thought it really happened. he said it’s definitely possible. sooo… who knows?
gefenParticipantworkinonit – so true!
gefenParticipantalso there’s a cubs vs. pirates game today if ur interested in going.
gefenParticipantYoish – popa – that sounds mean. we would never do that. but anyway i hope you can forgive him/her too, cuz it is Elul.
gefenParticipantbtw – popa – you should be enjoying our wonderful city of chicago instead of sitting at the computer. yes, i know the cr is addictive but….. come on. you’re on vacation.
go to navy pier, museums, botanic gardens, the zoo (oh wait, ur already on the cr. JK everyone. anyway there’s a lot to see here.
gefenParticipant“Except one” I hope you don’t mean us! 🙁
gefenParticipantpopa – ok – maskim – she should have yelled at you 😉
btw – we still want to meet you. chaplaintzvi would love to chat with you. after all we have such a history with you on the cr.
but it’s all behind us – it’s chodesh elul. right?
gefenParticipantPopa – “girls are so weird” — hmmmm. I guess guys are so normal, huh? Oh well – I thought breathing in the Chicago air would help you a bit. You know – put some common sense in you. LOL 🙂
Anyway as far as the girl whose heel fell off – what did you want her to do?
gefenParticipantJIB – ur right! don’t go out with her again. of all the nerve! what chutpah! – oh you thought i was referring to her? NO. ur the one with nerve and chutzpah! so why do i say u shouldn’t go out with her again? because you’ll be doing HER a favor! don’t waste her time. she deserves better.
for those who suggested he can buy her high heels when they get married, or tell the shadchan so she can convince her to wear high heels – please – give me a break. is that really so important? what if she doesn’t want to ever wear heels?
i may be going out on a limb here – but i think just maybe midos are a little more important than heels.
btw – my husband is 6″4 and i’m 5″4. he couldn’t care less! when we were first married, i liked wearing heels but i also wore flats. it didn’t make a difference to him at all. now i rarely if ever wear heels. flats are just so much more comfortable and healthy. they are also very stylish.
gefenParticipantSo popa – i guess that’s a “no” to us coming to you for pizza 😉
(see my previous post)
s’ok – we gotta get to bed early anyway for our BIG TRIP LOL.
btw – was it the L’kutei P’shatim you were reading.
btw2 – if ur still here wednesday, let us know.
gefenParticipantooh – pizza – so can we come to you? jk
so i guess we won’t meet this time, cuz we are IY”H leaving for Detroit tomorrow and staying a couple of days. we are going there for the wedding of the person who had his aufruf here today.
so close yet so far (for us to meet, i mean) maybe next time
hope you enjoyed your Shabbos here and will enjoy the rest of your stay in our very friendly town. (i’m actually not from here originally but i like it here)
gefenParticipantyitayningwut – he couldn’t be at the westin as there aren’t any in peterson park. so i guess he got his good scotch at someone’s house.
btw – you have a very interesting screen name – i can’t even pronounce it. 😉
gefenParticipantwanna come over for melava malka and get to meet the people who come here for family time? 🙂
gefenParticipantoh i know where that is! not far from us. are you still in chicago or did you leave already?
gefenParticipantcan you tell us what shul/neighborhood you were in?
gefenParticipantB”H for good news. It should continue to get better. Refuah Shelaima.
gefenParticipantthey should have a refuah sheleima!
gefenParticipantum … did we see each other in shul? of course i mean after davening – at the kiddush or meal. after all we in chicago do have mechitzas in our shuls.
gefenParticipantpopa – were you here for an aufruf or a bar mitzva?
if so, are you related to the ppl?
if so, WE MIGHT BE RELATED!!!!!!!!!!!!
gefenParticipantcandy – Baruch Hashem all went well. May it continue to go well and Hashem should bless them both (and ur whole fam) Ad Meah V’Esrim.
If there’s anything we can do for you, let us know – Oh wait, you still don’t know who we are, so I guess I’ll call.
