aries – i see what ur saying but i wouldn’t want to do that. it might be offensive. i like this person very much. anyway she already did her part or “job” so to speak, by forwarding it to 12 ppl. it doesn’t matter whether we pass it along or not.

basically i just wanted to hear other ppl’s opinions about this. is it considered avoda zara? or in any way inappropriate halachicly? i mean especially when it indicates if you pass it along, good luck will come your way- are they saying if you don’t then c”v bad luck will come? we don’t believe in this stuff. why are frum ppl involved in this?

    any opinions from the cr?

    Queen Bee:

You actually spoke in front of your class in h.s and college?! You’re way ahead of me! I was too afraid to raise my hand to just answer a question! When I got to sem, the thought of giving model lessons in front of my class and then in front of an elementary school class with the teachers watching me!!!!!!!!! – YIKES! – that really blew me away. i literally shook when i had to do it! but i did it anyway and lived to tell the story 🙂

it’s funny though, i always thought i’d be a nervous wreck at my wedding – after all – the kallah is the center of attention. but guess what? it was the most amazing day! i was not nervous at all and i really enjoyed every minute of it! so go figure!

actually when i was dating, it really depended on the guy. with some guys i wasn’t so shy, others were a bit intimidating. (there were times i came home and felt so embarrassed or foolish cuz i thought i probably acted really dumb) when i finally met the one who is now my husband, it was really quite comfortable. i don’t know whether or not you are dating yet, but don’t get all worked up about it (i know – easier said than done). but i just want you to know that even those who aren’t shy can have a hard time on a date. when the right one comes along – somehow you know it and it all works out. hatzlacha rabba to you!!

    do i know you? 😉

workinonit – i have been shy all my life. painfully shy at times. i guess as the years have gone by (no i’m not sooooo old) it’s gotten better, but i would still say i’m shy. i, too, feel awkward and at a loss for words at times. you ask how to change that. honestly, i don’t really know. so i’m hoping others may have some advise for both of us. hatzlacha to you. i’m sure we’re not alone in this. not everyone can be outspoken and always know the right things to say at the right time.

irflatbush – i’m glad u liked my story, but like i said – don’t take an example from it. it may not work for everyone. see mommamia’s post. some girls would get turned off. i actually wasn’t sure what to make of it. i did like getting the flowers but wasn’t sure yet (after all – it was only one date) how i felt. B”H it did work out for us but… you still have to be careful. Hatzlacha Rabba to you and we hope to see you on the mazal tov thread really soon.

don’t take an example from my story – i’m sure it’s not the norm. but i just thought i’d share it here.

my friend set me up with a guy from chicago (that’s why i live here now – as you all probably know, i’m from ny originally). anyway, we had a nice first date, then he went back to chicago. that friday, my doorbell rang and guess what? there was a delivery of a dozen roses from – you guessed it! the guy i went out with…ONCE. well he came back to ny a few weeks later and we dated every night that week. fast forward 21 yrs.– we are married with 3 wonderful kids (can’t really call them kids anymore – time really flies)

popa – when’s ur next trip to chicago? can midwesterner give us ur email address?

actually, my daughters and i were right near starbucks at a few minutes after 4. we figured you had probably left already. we looked around to see if anyone frum would walk out of the store but didn’t see anyone. oh well! i should have told u to meet us in dressbarn. (maybe you could have brought home something nice for your wife).

midwesterner and mrs. midwesterner – chaplaintzvi says hi and he loved the cake too. come on and join everyone at shallots – surely you can take some time off for a little get together. right?

midwesterners wife – i actually do have a job. just don’t tell anyone that sometimes (only sometimes) i post from work. but usually i post from home – instead of making dinner, cleaning up, etc. 😉

you ask if anyone here has a life outside the coffee room. um…… actually this place is kind of addictive. but yeah – i guess i have other things to do. like maybe decide what to make for yom tov.
