“I won’t ask the other way around, since it’s clear this is not a good idea (kedusha should go upwards).”

I see many have asked why he wrote that. I, too, have an issue with it. But I don’t need to ask what he means by it. IT’S KIND OF OBVIOUS! And apparently coffee feels the same way about women!

If that’s the only thing that will keep you from getting any rewards, then you’re ok- imho.

Seriously, why would your lip syncing be such a deception? Is everyone really interested in whether YOU are singing? Do you think everyone is just looking at you so see if you’re singing? Everyone is enjoying themselves, including you, so what difference does it make?

Zeeskite: “I hear from the mods..” “I think you’re hearing things” I love your response! Cute!

Azolis: What are you talking about? Evidence? Sounds like you’re talking about criminals. You want them to say who they think is mechalel shabbos? Why? What’s it our business? This is a public website – despite the fact that it is a frum one. Anyone has the right to read and post here.

The best thing for us to do is NEVER MAKE A CHILLUL HASHEM!!!! We must always act appropriately- here and in real life! I would hope that anyone here on the cr who is not frum or not jewish would come away with a good impression of the frum world. True – nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes, argue, etc. but in general we do have a high standard to uphold – and that is the standard Hashem set for us with the Torah. Let’s do our best to make a Kiddush Hashem!

YehudahTzvi: yes please give us a source for this! If it’s really true, i’m sure a lot of us here would like to know about it.

Sheva B: True – the surgery (c-section) itself was not painful. I had local anesthesia for all of them and was aware of what was going on – just a bit sedated but not much. The pain and discomfort after my first one was kind of hard – but the next two – not so bad. I agree that the discomfort of the stent after the lithotripsies definitely outweighed that of the c-sections and subsequent weeks.

btw – you are not boasting. sounds like we’ve kind of had similar experiences; kidney stones (though treated differently) and c-sections. and we both agree on which was worse.

Health: thanks for the clarification/correction. i wondered if i was saying the right thing.

Sheva brachos: even though i had lithotripsy twice, not surgery, i still had to have a stent put it. the procedure breaks up the stone then the stent allows the pieces to pass. i also had it in for about a week. COULDN’T WAIT TO GET IT TAKEN OUT! SO UNCOMFORTABLE!

Aposhitermaidel: so true about the diff between childbirth and kidney stones. with the first you come home with an adorable lovable baby. with the second you come home with an unadorable unlovable kidney stone. 🙂 (though i never actually went through the childbirth process totally as i had 3 c-sections – i did have the labor pains – ouch- but TOTALLY WORTH IT)

in reply to: Kidney Stones – Anyone? #835544

Yup – been there done that. First time was probably about 12 or 13 yrs. ago. Did not have the typical pain just some discomfort and other symptoms so it took them 8 months to figure it out. The stones were too big to pass so I had a lithotripsy (not sure of spelling) done. That’s were they sedate you and lower you into a pool of water. They then shoot laser beams at the site where the stones are. This crushes them up to make it easier to pass. It was after I got home that i experienced the PAIN. But I’m here to tell the story- B”H. I then had the same thing a year and half later. Same treatment also.

Prevention depends on what kind of stones they are. Though drinking a lot – especially water – is good, i believe, in preventing most stones.

Since you asked, i’m assuming you have them? if you do, refuah shelayma.

popa – it sounds like the reason they are assuming the complaint was not legit was because they continued to eat it. if it was so “terrible” as they claimed why would they finish up the whole thing? i wouldn’t eat something i thought was terrible, would you?

I always wondered about that too.

If sam2’s answer is correct, then i think it’s a silly reason.

if you know the halacha, then you don’t need the word glatt.

and for ppl who aren’t so makpid about kashrus, what does that one little word mean to them anyway?

i’m sure i’ll think of some more. right now – too tired.

just for the record; i am not advocating this simchas bas thing – at least not the way it’s presented here. a celebration yes – but within halachic guidelines. if sfardim do this, i guess they have their mesorah for it.

i was just saying how i feel that a daughter is very much a blessing – no less than a son – imho. and no – i am not arguing with the gemara.
