gefenParticipant
Hi BTGuy: ok so should i give you my bank account number for you to deposit the money you owe me??? LOL 😉
Zeeskite – um….I guess i’m a bit slow today (ok- not just today) but I didn’t get ur comment. could you explain?
writersoul: yeah – there are a lot of expressions out there that are not grammatically correct but yet are accepted. another one i love is “it was so fun”.
2querty: LOL – yeah i guess so
seeallsides: interesting theory
So now I will go back to my perfect English (ya right) and back to the important topics of our times. War, poverty,……. Oh yeah – cleaning for Pesach. What am I doing in the CR now anyway?
gefenParticipantWhy the $100 fine? If the girls get off, that should be sufficient.
gefenParticipantAZ ” (i’m not going to make it so easy for you).” – WOW! – what a nice way for a representative of the organization to speak!!! That will really make ppl want to join.
eman – AMEN!
gefenParticipantKshmo kein hu – I agree with you totally! Couldn’t have said it better. It would be a great idea if you send your comment to the Yated, as they had huge ads for Project Nasi.
Nothing against the Yated, btw, I just figured since Nasi’s ad was in there and ppl did write in to complain, your comment would be a good addition.
gefenParticipantPopa – nu? so ur gonna be in chicago for Pesach?
Gatesheader – who’s having a bad day?
gefenParticipantwho?
gefenParticipantoh – ur gonna be in chicago for pesach?
gefenParticipantPOPA: Let me rephrase. Yes many people made very good points. It’s YOUR comments that I found weird and unimportant. 😉 Does that clear it up now? 😉
No – i’m not really being nasty. I’m just picking on you. 😉
(gotta keep the feud going, no?) 😉
Did i put enough smiley faces in this post to lighten it up?
gefenParticipantOnce when my husband was using his mirror to make sure his tefilin were on right, someone in the shul came over to him and really gave it to him! He embarrassed him in public, yelling at him for using a mirror. My husband didn’t answer (I think he was too shocked). I was so upset when I heard this. What a chutzpah! It’s better to yell at and embarrass someone than to use a mirror?
gefenParticipantsoliek – so what’s the point of it?
gefenParticipantI didn’t see anything important before that either. 😉
gefenParticipantI stopped reading after around the 15th or so post.
But I must say – I CAN’T BELIEVE ALL OF YOU ARE ACTUALLY ANSWERING HIM!
gefenParticipantIs there a charge for Koshernet? Does it allow you to choose what’s allowed on your computer or do they have specific restrictions? Also can someone who is really good with computers get around Koshernet and still access sites that were blocked?
gefenParticipantHi BTGuy
Thanky YOU for your kind words. I wasn’t sure how this thread would be received. As “more” wrote – “However there’s no way to prove that it’s actually true” – and that’s right but I still found it inspiring and an important message to all of us.
gefenParticipantThanks Alex. We should only hear good news. Good Shabbos everyone!
gefenParticipantThank you ChaniE
gefenParticipantBUMP: Please? Anyone know the other names? I want to add them to my tehilim list.
gefenParticipantcorrection: the name should be Tzirel not Tirel. typo!
Meanwhile – is there anyone out there who knows the other names and who they are?
gefenParticipantoops! when i checked back after my first post, it was showing up weird so i thought it wasn’t going to go through. so i copied and pasted it and now it went through twice. oh well – double good wishes for you always runs! 🙂
gefenParticipantHi Always- good to hear from you!!! I’m glad you took the right steps to a better life!!! I was really worried about you!! If you and your children need help for all the emotional scars, I certainly hope you are getting it.
Wishing you and your children only good things from now on!!! Keep us posted. We care!

gefenParticipantsam: um….. so what should my daughters and I celebrate?
gefenParticipantMazal Tov!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gefenParticipantBTW – my son worked backstage so we got to meet Shwekey!
gefenParticipantDespite what Pesach7 wrote about this coming from a christian website (which I can see his point), it has certainly lead to a very interesting conversation here.
Logician – I can certainly see that this is a deep contradiction and very much beyond our comprehension. However I truly enjoy such deep discussions. It really makes you think.
gefenParticipantHave a wonderful Shabbos everyone. I guess we’ll continue after Shabbos. 🙂
gefenParticipantCorrection to my last post. I was just told by one of my daughters that you can change a bad gezaira to a good one but not a good one to bad. B”H. So that makes me more confused about the Rosh Hashana statement that Feif Un wrote.
Like I said, this whole topic is complicated. Yes, we have bechira (to choose between good and evil) but a very big YES is that Hashem is in control of this world. Nothing “just happens”.
gefenParticipantFeif un: that is really scary! I always thought that if on Rosh Hashana you were written for life that’s that – unless you yourself of course do something to change the decree.
Apparently this topic is quite complicated.
gefenParticipantSam2- But if Hashem doesn’t want that person to die before his time, wouldn’t he save him even he were shot or stabbed? It’s the choice of the one who attacks to do so but he doesn’t get to decide if the person dies.
As far a suicide, I don’t know how that goes. I heard a person cant’ get Olam Habah if he commits suicide but beyond that, I am not familiar with that topic.
gefenParticipantantikifira: seems like you missed my point. We have bechira to do good or bad. The person who killed Rabbi Abuchatzeira had the choice to attack him or not. He chose to attack him (with the intention of killing him). Yes – apparently it was also Rabbi Abuchatzeira’s time or Hashem wouldn’t have let him die even though he was attacked.
If you held a gun and shot at 100 Jews- chas v’shalom – that would have been your choice (an evil one) to do so. Whether anyone would have died in that shooting would have been up to Hashem. But you would still be accountable for you actions.
gefenParticipantantikfira: we have bechira to choose between good and bad. Yes – Hashem does intervene in certain situations. That’s not taking away from our choice of good or bad. Waking up late, car taking forever to start, phone dying etc. is not our choice. Hashem made those things happen for a reason. We don’t always know the reason but that’s not the point. We have to believe it was for our ultimate good.
gefenParticipantMORE BREAKING NEWS:
Outbreak of lice near the Beirut River area. UH OH!
Coming next: Beware of wild animals – starring the Egyptians!
(no ayin hara intended. this world is scary enough right now)
gefenParticipantgefenParticipantmomamia: right after i read this thread, i went back onto my email and someone had just forwarded a link to me showing oprah’s interview. i didn’t watch the whole thing – in fact i just clicked on it for a few seconds. But the man she was talking to was not black. he was a white lubavitcher yid. could there have possibly been more than one interview?
anyway, i cannot post any opinion yet until i watch the whole thing. i will IY”H do so when i get home from work. shhh – yes, i’m posting while at work. just needed a few minute break. now back to work.
later everyone 🙂
gefenParticipantAny indication on whether or not he will come back to the cr?
gefenParticipantBY Mezuraz is the new seminary that used to be Shoshanim which was totally amazing!!!!!!!!!! My daughter went there and LOVED it!!!!!!!
gefenParticipantOneOfMany – 1) In our city, kallahs actually do sign up with a gift registry. When I got engaged, my mother in law asked where I want to sign up. Being from New York, I had no idea what she was talking about. Now that I’ve been living here for 20 years, I see it all the time.
2) I wasn’t implying that you SHOULD davka get a cheap gift, it’s just that the OP said she wants to get a cheap gift. I just feel giving a gift certificate for $5 or $10 dollars looks funny (and cheap). However if you buy a gift for that amount, it might not look as bad. You can actually find great bargains at some stores.
gefenParticipantThe OP said “cheap gifts”. If she gives a gift certificate, the recipient will know right away how much (or how little) she spent. However, if she buys a gift, it’s not so obvious.
gefenParticipantSyag – are these friends from our city? If so, I’d like to know who they are. Sounds like an interesting item. Of course you can’t post names here, but I think you can figure out how to let me know. 😉
January 27, 2012 4:28 am at 4:28 am in reply to: Stories-tribute to Habachur R' Dovid Robbins ZT'L #847307gefenParticipantI’ve read a few times that he had a hard life and many nisyonos. Would it be appropriate for someone to tell us a bit of his life – the hardships and tests? He was apparently an amazing person to have been such a happy individual and an inspiration to so many. Maybe we can all learn from him. I don’t mean to sound nosy – it’s just that I feel that those of us who didn’t know him could be inspired by his life story.
gefenParticipantI just read some place that Rav Kaduri said that Moshiach will come after Ariel Sharon dies. He apparently said this shortly before he (Rav Kaduri) died at the age of 108. It is also said that he left a note stating who Moshiach is. It was not to be opened until a year after his death. One year later, his son opened it. But it’s not exactly clear to whom he was referring. It seems that Moshiach had appeared to him perhaps in a dream – not sure of the whole story.
Has anyone else heard about this?
January 26, 2012 1:15 am at 1:15 am in reply to: What's black and white and yellow all over? #865532gefenParticipantItche – interesting – where’d you hear this story? can you elaborate or tell us where to find it?
soliek and optimusprime – sorry but so not appropriate for this website. really surprised the mods let your posts through.
January 26, 2012 1:09 am at 1:09 am in reply to: Stories-tribute to Habachur R' Dovid Robbins ZT'L #847302gefenParticipantI third the motion – yes please. Share the stories.
gefenParticipantIs it a glass slipper?
gefenParticipantI know what it is, but i’m not telling. 🙂
January 20, 2012 7:07 pm at 7:07 pm in reply to: Those bumper stickers that say "My Kid Is An Honor Student…? #847228gefenParticipantFeivel and Wiy – the baby on board sign is for a different reason. I also used to think it was weird for the reason Feivel mentioned. Then I found out that it’s in case there is an accident C”V, the people who come to rescue should know there might be a baby to look for in the wreck in case the driver or other passengers can’t tell them (unconscious etc).
January 20, 2012 5:30 am at 5:30 am in reply to: Those bumper stickers that say "My Kid Is An Honor Student…? #847215gefenParticipantI’ve seen bumper stickers that say “Oh yeah? Well my kid can beat up your honor student”
Talk about childish and pathetic!
gefenParticipantaidel maidel – I don’t think prenatals come in chewable. Iron comes in liquid. When I had to do the prenatal thing – i either crushed them up or just took some children’s vitamins. Baruch Hashem my kids came out healthy. Hatzlacha to you.
always – i agree it’s in my head. yes i do picture myself choking. i just can’t help it.
gefenParticipantno tachanun tomorrow- see http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/yahrtzeit-of-yehuda-leib-horowitz
gefenParticipantDoes that mean no tachanun? My husband’s a big 3 stooges fan.
