November 7, 2023 4:57 pm at 4:57 pm in reply to: Kollel Couple Moving to Israel. What BANK to use? #2237543GadolhadorahParticipant
Takamamash: It is a huge commitment and mesiras nefesh for anyone relocating to EY now, whether for 1 year, 5 years or making aliyah permanently. My belief that such a couple are worthy of my initial wishes of kol hakovod and much hatzlacha stands, to them and all those who work on behalf of protecting the medinah, whether through their service in the IDF or limud torah.
GadolhadorahParticipantA “new” Gaza in the Sinai would still border/close proximity to EY. We are now seeing long-range missiles aimed towards Eilat being fired from Sudan. We don’t need a new Hamas controlled “Gaza” in the Sinai.
GadolhadorahParticipantThese or other equivalent videos have been shown by virtually all the media, including MSNBC. I wish they were shown more frequently but at least they are being recognized for what they are. The problem is that too many people seem to tune out what is obvious and instead focus on the more prevalent videos showing the suffering in Gaza.
November 2, 2023 7:42 am at 7:42 am in reply to: Kollel Couple Moving to Israel. What BANK to use? #2236617GadolhadorahParticipantMost U.S. banks maintain correspondent relationships with Israel’s top 3 banks, Bank Leumi, Bank Hapoalim, and IDB. Likewise, several Israeli banks have their own subsidiaries in major U.S. cities (e.g. Bank Hapoalim has branches in NYC and Miami; Bank Leumi has a U.S. domiciled subsidiary, Leumi USA, with offices in New York, Chicago, California, and Florida. You can have a separate credit card (e.g. Chase) that doesn’t charge foreign fees and allows you to earn miles for air travel (e.g. UAL) to and from EY.
Most importantly, kol hakovod and much hatzlacha for making Aliyah at this difficult time.GadolhadorahParticipantNo mainstream Dems have “switched sides”. For obvious reasons, the growing body count of non-combatant Gaza residents is triggering pressure on EY to do as much as possible to minimize collateral damage. The IDF acknowledgement today that they had accidentally bombed a refugee camp with multiple casualties is certain to increase that pressure.
Meanwhile, back in the House, the new majority leader is already trying to condition the aid package for EY to funding offsets, which has NEVER been done for emergency assistance. They may also add in border policy changes. None of these will be accepted in the Senate which means they are deliberately delaying the Israeli aid package.GadolhadorahParticipantIndividual who posted threats to Cornell Hillel (a/k/a Young Israel House) was arrested several hours ago
GadolhadorahParticipant“Why mention reshaim when you can mention a gadol?”
If any “gadol” espouses the vile and disgusting views expressed by the NK with respect to current events, they are all collectively reshaim. I don’t think either of the two Satmar rebbeim share the NK perspective on current events, and if they do, I’ll avoid making any further comments since they would be blatantly disrepectful.
GadolhadorahParticipantBaltimoreMaven: Perhaps consider that your Ravens are leading the AFL-N and look like they are headed for the playoffs. Not a siman that the world is ending.
GadolhadorahParticipantAll of these comments are so powerful and reinforcing of our emunah in these dark times. Its also so rare to share a thread where ALL are coming to the same conclusion from somewhat different directions.
GadolhadorahParticipantIsraeli media have stated that some of the leaders of the Hamas October 7th attack were among the 1100 terrorists released by Netanyahu in 2011 as part of the Shalit exchange. At some point, the moral fixation on pidyon shivuim must give way to the greater moral imperative of pikuach nefesh.
GadolhadorahParticipantParagliders are no more threatening than surfboards or all terrain vehicles in the sense they can be used to traverse political boundaries without formal authorization. Anyone who has ever played a round of golf at Pebble Beach or any one of multiple sections of US 101 along the Pacific Coast is used to seeing paragliders soaring along the cliffs. Its not surprising that these could easily be brought into Gaza w/o raising alarm bells.
GadolhadorahParticipantFor the first 10 days, the nightly coverage on CNN and CNBC was almost 100% pro-Israel, showing the horrific aftermath of the Hamas attacks….late last week, after the Hospital bombing (caused by an errant Hamas rocket) the coverage pivoted to 1:1 videos showing the “suffering of innocent Palestinians in Gaza and interviews with relief organizations predicting a catastrophe unless Israel stopped the bombing and allowed aid to enter. While there is obviously a need for military preparations, Israel is going to quickly lose the “PR war” if the delay in a military response lingers much longer. I suspect they know this so have to assume it is a risk they are willing to take.
October 25, 2023 11:24 pm at 11:24 pm in reply to: When will Netanyahu accept responsibility #2234487GadolhadorahParticipantWell, today he acknowledged that everyone (including himself) will be subject to scrutiny at the appropriate time, without at any point taking an iota personal responsibility. At least some of the IDF and intelligence leadership has acknowledged they screwed up Meanwhile, his hostage negotiator (Hirsch) jumps into the first photos of the released hostages even though he had zero role in the negotiations. You would think a negotiator tasked with dealing with Arab state intermediaries would at least speak Arabic (which he doesn’t).
GadolhadorahParticipantIt was interesting that in the immediate aftermath of the October 7th attacks, many large law firms and financial firms offered to match employee donations to the victims of the attack and suggested the International Red Cross be the vehicle for assistance. When made aware of how tone deaf this was considering the historic animosity of the IRC to EY and Magen David Adom, many quickly pivoted and offered to match donations to both IRC and MDA but also added United Hatzalah as a donation vehicle.
October 23, 2023 12:11 am at 12:11 am in reply to: The Israel Pogram of 2023 Jewish Massacre #2233696GadolhadorahParticipant“ujm – aside from being a Jew-hating troll, you’re also an ignoramus…”
IsraeliYid: So tell us, what do you really think about R’ Yosef??October 20, 2023 11:05 am at 11:05 am in reply to: Mainstream Media = The Enemy Of The People #2233153GadolhadorahParticipantI think the mainstream media, especially the cable news networks, have saturated their coverage over the past 12 days with horrific pictures of the Hamas butchery to an extent I would not have expected. Yes, they also show destruction in Gaza but that is the reality of news coverage. They have consistently interviewed victims, victims’ families and virtually all the IDF and political leadership of the medinah. Most can disagree, but I continue to believe the coverage is about as good as one might expect for this kind of event. Its not the singular moral clarity that we should expect in a perfect world but better than its been in prior Middle East coverage.
GadolhadorahParticipantGiven recent events, having a filter that still allows access to news sites for emergency information, resources, transportation reservations, online banking etc. is something you should consider.
October 19, 2023 9:36 pm at 9:36 pm in reply to: Mainstream Media = The Enemy Of The People #2233097GadolhadorahParticipantActually, mainstream media coverage is considerably less-biased than I would have expected although they were too quick to blame IDF for the Hamas rocket that hit the hospital. If you tune in to NewsMax, they were covering the “news” about Natalie Holoway murder and One America News was covering another election denial story in Arizona and the announcement of Kari Lake (the loser last time) that she is now running for the Senate.
GadolhadorahParticipantHuju: Agreed, but we need a transition plan to get there (hopefully b’mharah b’yamneu)
GadolhadorahParticipantWhether you call it “Zionism” or any other term, that is the reality and EY is the ONLY choice for Jews in today’s world. For those mindless yidden who think they go back and live peacefully under Palestinian or Arab rule, you will likely find yourselves getting your chelek of olam haboh a bit earlier than anticipated ch”v. There is no going back to a world than many of us think never really existed.
GadolhadorahParticipantHigh above Cayuga’s waters there are some total idiots. If ever there was a time for a University to get beyond the absurd invocations of “academic freedom” and “first amendment rights of free expression”, this is it If you cannot condemn this evil and insanity without adding a “BUT” and also having to express sympathy for the Palestinians in the same breadth, than the leadership of Cornell, UofP, Harvard, etc have lost any notion of moral leadership.
GadolhadorahParticipantIts sort of crazy to expect every company, institution, organization etc. to rebut some stupid or hateful comment made by a group of employees or students unless that group is doing so with company resources and facilities (like some of the College-funded student groups issuing statements of support for Hamas). Starbucks has been engaged in open warfare with this union so it has no need to “disown” the union’s comments.
P.S. Howard Shultz is not a self-hating Jew although he has been critical of Netanyahu’s judicial reforms along with half the population of EY.GadolhadorahParticipantJust a bit more intensity and kavanah yesterday both for הַנּוֹתֵן תְּשׁוּעָה לַמְּלָכִים and the me shebrach for חַיָּלֵי צְבָא הֲגַנָּה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל
GadolhadorahParticipantAside from the occasional reserve unit operating in a rear-support capacity (supply, logistics, public affairs etc) that may not have the most modern or newest version of equipment, virtually all of the front-line units are fully equipped.
GadolhadorahParticipantThe intelligence failures and lack of high level government focus on an obvious threat is beyond understanding and demands answers once the immediate crisis has been mitigated to some degree. edited – Sorry, not doing this. Unless you want to go stand in his shoes right now, that can wait
GadolhadorahParticipantWhether you agree with the hostage deal or believe in the ability to restrict expenditures, not a penny has been released as of yesterday. The gross stupidity and efforts to “blame” broad swaths of Yidden as reflected in some of these posts is beyond embarrassing. If you go on some of the right-wing social websites frequented by the MAGA crowd (e.g. GabSocial, etc.), you will see some of the most vile, hateful anti-semitic, anti-Israel posts saying the U.S. should NOT give a dollar of aid to Israel and linking the terrorist attacks to global Jewish elites “domination of the world”.
GadolhadorahParticipantAs has been conclusively demonstrated in peer reviewed studies, inside even the most ehrliche Litvishe yid beats the heart of a chassidishe wannabe.
GadolhadorahParticipantJust hang around a newly affluent yid when he gets to Avinu Malkenu and see if you can understand a vert of his adopted sephardeshe nusach
GadolhadorahParticipantChaim: Your comment about costs and ostentatious lifestyles prevalent across “in-town” communities is a bit bizarre. There are those who live beyond their means EVERYWHERE and its not unique to (in-town) Brooklyn, Monsey and Lakewood frum neighborhoods. A trip to Orlando is not outrageously expensive nor do most yidden fress out at $500/person 5 star Moshelin Dining venues. Insecure people with a need to keep up with their more affluent neigbors live both IT and OOT, although in the latter case, you may have to drive a bit further to monitor the most recent displays of obscene opulence.
October 4, 2023 12:01 am at 12:01 am in reply to: Validity of Jewish Marriage where it’s for other reasons #2229058GadolhadorahParticipant” Later the husband marries another wife….”
In the immoral words of R’ Ron Reagan, “there you go again”. Why is a certain CR participant so fixated on polygamy when most yidden have enough difficulty with a single spouse.GadolhadorahParticipantCA: I’d rather do tshuvah than rely on a tarp to stay dry.
GadolhadorahParticipantI’d be careful about using CBD for depression or any other emotional/mental health issues. Not a lot of verified data or peer reviewed studies aside from lots of anecdotal information. There are, however, some studies showing that CBD formulations can interfere with efficacy of certain prescribed medications and for certain individuals can actually have adverse effects.
GadolhadorahParticipantyou can get more info and watch a brief video at rubashkinhouse dot com……it appears to be a really massive operation going 24×7
GadolhadorahParticipantIf we all do Tshuvah, next year the Yidden controlling the weather might consider holding off on the Mabul before all the beautifully decorated succos become totally waterlogged. A wonderful seudah is best enjoyed w/o the kids’ decorations dropping down from the schach in your face while looking at what were once posters of gedolim which now all look like some psychedelic Rorschach inkblot test.
GadolhadorahParticipant“Declare bankruptcy to solve your debt problems”
Great idea! Don’t pay your debts, stiff your contractors, and declare bankruptcy….even ex-Presidents do it. Leaving others holding the bag is what makes America Great
GadolhadorahParticipant“Sneak up behind them and blow a shofar..”
And next year, you will be begging for mechilah for having caused them Tinnitus!!
GadolhadorahParticipantHave you ever considered whispering “Tishrei” since shaarei Shamayim are still open for another 10 days or so. You’d be amazed that volume doesn’t always equate to efficacy.
GadolhadorahParticipantPerhaps moishiach will come and we will be spared from having to deal with this….its just depressing to have to think about which is the less terrible choice. Alternatively, we can ask the Brits to forgive us and plead for them to allow the U.S. to revert to its status as a British Colony .
GadolhadorahParticipantThe many NYG fans here in the CR will recall that back in the late 1980s, Phil Simms was paid $100K after winning the Superbowl to say “We’re Going to Disneyworld”. Since that time, a player from every Super Bowl-winning team has said the phrase on-camera since. Its only fair that frum yidden, having survived the yamim noraim and the superbowl of bais din shel maahlah, will be also be able to say that as well.
GadolhadorahParticipantSo I correct my prior kvetch to stipulate that bored bochurim are overrunning the CR both during bein hazmanim and during the zman when they should be at least endeavor to create the appearance of shteiging.
GadolhadorahParticipantNot= so-chashuvah bachurim, talimidim, kollel yungerleit and simply bored Trollsters
The new zman will be starting soon and the CR will soon be freed from the onslaught of childish rants and unintelligible musar. Perhaps in the interim, do something useful like cleaning and refinishing your shtender (good beeswax cleaner and water-based stain) or cleaning the walls outside shuls and batei medrashim from a year’s worth of pashkevilim warning that its assur and vadalism to glue a pashkevil on public walls (no matter how “important” the message”)
GadolhadorahParticipantSome old-timers may remember the king of the day-traders during the internet stock frenzy of the late 1990s who went by the nickname of Tokyo Joe (R’ Yosef’s second cousin from Japan). Thousands of young day-traders were paying him hundreds of dollars a month to share his trading tips. He was subsequently charged by the SEC with failure to register as an investment advisor and building up a position in some small market cap stocks and then dumping his position simultaneously with hyping them for his chassidim. There are still some legit advisory services like Motley Fool, but they generally focus on “longer-term” (aka more than an hour or two) positions and also have good research staff backing up their recommendations.
GadolhadorahParticipantProbably because frum yidden are too smart to deliberately engage in a demonstrated money-losing activity. You have better chance of making money at a Casino. SEC studies show the vast majority of day traders lose money.
GadolhadorahParticipantAAQ: I think thats the point of the OP. A lot can be hidden in non-tapered Lulumon Hoisen
GadolhadorahParticipantPapasmurf: My expertise in varbeshe lvushos is derived from non-stop chatter over nearly 3 years of zoom calls with clients and colleagues during Covid 19 as to the benefits of working from home in both tapered and baggy lululemon hoisen. I wouldn’t claim gadlus in any other segment of the varbeshe fashion world.
GadolhadorahParticipantTakamamash: So we now need to include a label for every sarcastic phrase in a post? Obviously they’ve been around forever and thats why the original troll was so pathetic. Aside from the tzinius issue for women, most kollel yungerleit look terrible in yoga pants even if you put aside the question of whether they are consistent with the lvush of our ancestors in the alte heim.
GadolhadorahParticipant“Do teshuvah now; avoid the holiday rush….”
Apparently, the malachim working in the IT Department in Shamayim have added a significant amount of new bandwidth to the http://WWW.Tshuvahnow.com website to accommodate the large numbers of yidden wanting to do tshuvah in the days before the yamim noraim. Thus, the website is unlikely to crash as has sometimes been the case in prior years.
GadolhadorahParticipantCA: Its called the “law” of diminishing returns…….actually, you probably observed that my online presence is inversely related to time on the golf course or periodic moments of trolling the trolls.
GadolhadorahParticipant“Never heard of this. Some new fad?”
Yup…a NEW fad….its called yoga and a publicly traded firm called Lululemon (NYSE: LULU) sells this newfangled lvush called “yogapants”. They became the official uniform of millions of women working from home during the Covid Pandemic since they didn’t show up on Zoom calls with clients. When our firm (and virtually all other law firms, banks etc.) sent around memos to their professional staff back in June ordering everyone back to the office 4 days/week after Labor Day, they included a special reminder that lululemon hoisen were NOT considered proper professional attire (even on casual Fridays). They have also become popular among some segments of the frum tzibur when worn as leggings under a tzinisusdike skirt. I suspect the OP is struggling to find a new subject for trolling that is not as mindless as most of the other “bein hazmanim” missives we have been suffering through the past few weeks.
September 7, 2023 12:19 am at 12:19 am in reply to: Shidduchim Between Litvish Girls and Chasidish Boys #2223546GadolhadorahParticipant“Of course Ger is another story…”
So are you saying that Ger chassidim are LESS likely to be supportive of a “mixed” marriage? Is that also true of those Ger who follow R’ Shaul Alter’s hashkafah and those who might arguably be less fixated on the “takunes” with respect to one of their kids finding a Litvish beschert?
