The intelligence failures and lack of high level government focus on an obvious threat is beyond understanding and demands answers once the immediate crisis has been mitigated to some degree. edited – Sorry, not doing this. Whether you agree with the hostage deal or believe in the ability to restrict expenditures, not a penny has been released as of yesterday. The gross stupidity and efforts to “blame” broad swaths of Yidden as reflected in some of these posts is beyond embarrassing. If you go on some of the right-wing social websites frequented by the MAGA crowd (e.g. GabSocial, etc.), you will see some of the most vile, hateful anti-semitic, anti-Israel posts saying the U.S. should NOT give a dollar of aid to Israel and linking the terrorist attacks to global Jewish elites “domination of the world”.

Chaim: Your comment about costs and ostentatious lifestyles prevalent across “in-town” communities is a bit bizarre. There are those who live beyond their means EVERYWHERE and its not unique to (in-town) Brooklyn, Monsey and Lakewood frum neighborhoods. A trip to Orlando is not outrageously expensive nor do most yidden fress out at $500/person 5 star Moshelin Dining venues. Insecure people with a need to keep up with their more affluent neigbors live both IT and OOT, although in the latter case, you may have to drive a bit further to monitor the most recent displays of obscene opulence.

I’d be careful about using CBD for depression or any other emotional/mental health issues. Not a lot of verified data or peer reviewed studies aside from lots of anecdotal information. There are, however, some studies showing that CBD formulations can interfere with efficacy of certain prescribed medications and for certain individuals can actually have adverse effects.

If we all do Tshuvah, next year the Yidden controlling the weather might consider holding off on the Mabul before all the beautifully decorated succos become totally waterlogged. A wonderful seudah is best enjoyed w/o the kids’ decorations dropping down from the schach in your face while looking at what were once posters of gedolim which now all look like some psychedelic Rorschach inkblot test.

The many NYG fans here in the CR will recall that back in the late 1980s, Phil Simms was paid $100K after winning the Superbowl to say “We’re Going to Disneyworld”. Since that time, a player from every Super Bowl-winning team has said the phrase on-camera since. Its only fair that frum yidden, having survived the yamim noraim and the superbowl of bais din shel maahlah, will be also be able to say that as well.

Some old-timers may remember the king of the day-traders during the internet stock frenzy of the late 1990s who went by the nickname of Tokyo Joe (R’ Yosef’s second cousin from Japan). Thousands of young day-traders were paying him hundreds of dollars a month to share his trading tips. He was subsequently charged by the SEC with failure to register as an investment advisor and building up a position in some small market cap stocks and then dumping his position simultaneously with hyping them for his chassidim. There are still some legit advisory services like Motley Fool, but they generally focus on “longer-term” (aka more than an hour or two) positions and also have good research staff backing up their recommendations.

Probably because frum yidden are too smart to deliberately engage in a demonstrated money-losing activity. You have better chance of making money at a Casino. SEC studies show the vast majority of day traders lose money.

“Do teshuvah now; avoid the holiday rush….”

Apparently, the malachim working in the IT Department in Shamayim have added a significant amount of new bandwidth to the http://WWW.Tshuvahnow.com website to accommodate the large numbers of yidden wanting to do tshuvah in the days before the yamim noraim. Thus, the website is unlikely to crash as has sometimes been the case in prior years.

“Never heard of this. Some new fad?”

Yup…a NEW fad….its called yoga and a publicly traded firm called Lululemon (NYSE: LULU) sells this newfangled lvush called “yogapants”. They became the official uniform of millions of women working from home during the Covid Pandemic since they didn’t show up on Zoom calls with clients. When our firm (and virtually all other law firms, banks etc.) sent around memos to their professional staff back in June ordering everyone back to the office 4 days/week after Labor Day, they included a special reminder that lululemon hoisen were NOT considered proper professional attire (even on casual Fridays). They have also become popular among some segments of the frum tzibur when worn as leggings under a tzinisusdike skirt. I suspect the OP is struggling to find a new subject for trolling that is not as mindless as most of the other “bein hazmanim” missives we have been suffering through the past few weeks.

Its time to step back and reconsider the whole “color war” shtick at summer camps in the broader context of global geopolitics and militarism. Parents sending their pure yiddeshe neshamas to a summer camp do not expect them to be indoctrinated in the barbaric violence of milchama and instead hope they learn to peacefully engage with those bunks whose residents they disagree and sit around the campfire and sing “Oseh Shalom” to the melody of Kumbayah. As chazal bring down the inyan of “Make Love Not War”, summer camp must reinvest itself in this pacifist model.

It is not unusual for men in their mid-40s experience some form of “mid-life crisis”. To begin with, in your 40’s you are no longer a “bochur” by any definition. You are a man who feels he is being repeatedly rejected by women, notwithstanding your acknowledging that there are many available women out there looking, but just not in your direction.

There are a small minority here in the CR who believe the “Shidduch Crisis” is mainly media hype and your perception of the statistics certainly would support that view.

Take a few months off from your “search” and use the time to critically look inward and assess whether there might be some personal attributes which might not be net positives from the perspective of a woman (not “girls”) in your age bracket (mid-30sto mid-40s) seeking her beschert and decide whether there are personal changes within your control that you want to undertake to make yourself more attractive to these women.
Whatever path you take, much hatzlacha in your search.

I’m not sure this debate is remotely relevant to contemporary Islamic beliefs and behavior. Even assuming for arguments sake that Jewish-Muslim relations were peaceful and benevolent until the Zionists came along, which as other posts above note is not really accurate, that would NOT be the case today given the radicalization of generations of Arab youth for reasons that are both religious and cultural. You have to be truly crazy to believe that if the medinah was disolved, the IDF disbanded and Zionism extinguished yidden would be welcome in what is now EY and could live in peace and harmony with their neighbors until z’man moishiach.

Participant: Whatever you are smoking, I hope you are in a jurisdiction where it is legal. Of the 65 to 70 court proceedings dealing with challenges to the voting, certifications, electors, etc., at least half or more were MERITS cases and not procedural. Even those cases that were arguably “procedural”, many dealt with standing and late filings or were summarily dismissed because Trump’s lawyers never followed up an initial “complaint” with the require evidence or showings. When Trump’s own Attorney General, FBI Director, head of the election monitoring office at DHS etc. along with at least 17 Trump appointed federal judges all say conclusively there was no evidence of election irregularities that would have changed the outcome, its more than “procedural”.

What is the standard for “normal” these days? Given some of the other craziness going on in the frum velt, the Chabadniks who cling to the notion that the Rebbe will be “returning” in some spiritual context but otherwise are shomrei torah umitzvot, seem quite normal. I’d be more concerned about some of the fringe elements of other chassidus and the Litvishshe tzibur who engage in seemingly non-stop broigas with their neighbors and hafganot targeted at just about everyone on a particular day of the week (sometimes for reasons not entirely clear even to the demonstrators).
