Torahvalues: It will be a looooong wait for another Trumpkopf.
In fairness,Trump didn’t “ruin” the GOP. He was very clear before he was elected in 2016 as to who he was and what he would do. The ruination of the GOP was in the hands of those Republicans who as a prior poster noted, twisted themselves into lying sycophantsand conspiracy theorists to avoid being “tweeted at”.
December 2, 2020 2:58 pm at 2:58 pm in reply to: Shmiras Shabbos is the answer to Climate Change. #1925348GadolhadorahParticipantSyag: I’ll agree 100 percent to avoid any manifestation of my chronic TDS in responding to posts or where the Poster has no political agenda or links to POTUS. The premise here of the OP is that reduction in activities by certain Dem hypocrites that are assur on shabbos is the “answer” the climate change. Sadly, sarcasm will not reduce green house gas emissions nor will the anti-science beliefs of the incumbent’s chassidim. There is definitely a common thread to those who will jeopardize the health and safety by rejecting mainstream science and advocating “wishful” solutions to real problems.
December 2, 2020 1:16 pm at 1:16 pm in reply to: Shmiras Shabbos is the answer to Climate Change. #1925312GadolhadorahParticipantVery high correlation coefficient between climate deniers, covid deniers, mask efficacy deniers and Trumpkopf believers….
I would agree with the predicate of the OP as long as we do so in a manner that doesn’t increase carbon emissions. Cattle raising is one of the largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions so when making your chulent, cut back on the red meat and consider chicken, or even better, tofu. Not all agree with the chiyuv to eat red meat on shabbos and you can be mehader shabbos even more by purchasing more expensive seafood.
GadolhadorahParticipantIts easy to cry gevalt and invoke pidyon shivuim every time some mindless Yid (of whatever age) is imprisoned for smuggling drugs into a country where it is strictly prohibited. However, unless individuals face consequences for their illegal actions, there is no deterrent. Perhaps its time to hold people accountable for their actions and not assume their imprisonment is the result of a bunch of ant-Semitic goyim persecuting some poor helpless yidden based on concocted evidence or lying witnesses.
GadolhadorahParticipantAre you also feeling angst about Purim? Or should we begin debating churmrahs and kulahs about doing a preset Zoom seder with the machatonim?
Seriously though, given the timeline for vaccinations, I wouldn’t plan on changing anything we have been doing until sometime next summer. While I’m comfortable with taking a vaccine, the timeline of getting enough people either vaccinated or already having been infected and having antibodies may be a few months longer than many are assuming.GadolhadorahParticipantThe tragedy of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) knows no political boundaries. Like a mutated form of Intellectual STD, it has sadly infected individuals from across the political spectrum of all ages, ethnicities and religious beliefs. While medical science has offered several formulations that provide short-term relief, it is a progressively debilitating state of mind that ultimately becomes all-consuming. There are unconfirmed rumors that the incoming administration plans to launch Operation Warped Mind to find a cure.
GadolhadorahParticipantIt appears that Astro-Zenica has called time out on submission of its Phase 3 test results to CDC for an EUA. Late today, the CEO acknowledged that many researchers have raised legitimate questions about the validity of those results showing the experimental vaccine was 90% effective in a sub-group of trial participants who, by error initially, received a half dose followed by a full dose. Instead, they will perform another study on an accelerated basis across a wide spectrum of participants to remove any doubts regarding efficacy. This still leaves two vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna) whose results the FDA committee will review next week.
In a world of vaccine skeptics, the AZ decision was the prudent way to proceed. Hopefully, the WH will not force a subset of those seeking a vaccination to first be inoculated against TDS.November 26, 2020 10:41 pm at 10:41 pm in reply to: why did our conservative news site go liberal? #1923565GadolhadorahParticipant“before you accuse me of being some lefty, I am a Republican Committeeman for over 25 years and a former member of the GOP executive committee”
Seychel: Surely you know that your legacy Republican credentials are irrelevant unless you have recently (and frequently) reestablished your NEW Republican bona fides by genuflecting to Trump and wear your MAGA hat to bed. Otherwise, you are, by definition, a RHINO and have lost your chelek of the RNC’s olam haboh.November 26, 2020 9:59 pm at 9:59 pm in reply to: why did our conservative news site go liberal? #1923546GadolhadorahParticipantSay it ain’t so….YWN becoming part of the left-wing, drive-by, socialist, FAKE news mob??? If you have any doubts, just go through the archives and look at all the flattering stock photos used by the YWN editorial staff whenever a headline mentions either Hillary or Obama, where the photo has no contextual reference to the news item. Or use the search function and see if you can find a story in the past few months where any references to the ehrliche governor of NYS or mayor of NYC doesn’t have some pejorative prefix (perhaps rightfully so). In simple terms, while not a yiddeshe version of NewsMax or OAN, many of us will assure you that the YWN news editors have not gone rogue. Nor should you expect to see Rav Avi Weiss’ columns replacing those of Rav Hoffman or any of my less than respectful postings about certain rabbonim or askanim get by the Mods. However, if your definition of “liberal” means anything that doesn’t conform to the alternative reality of the Trumpkopfs, than perhaps you have a legitimate broigas with the YWN management.
November 26, 2020 8:01 pm at 8:01 pm in reply to: U.S. Supreme Court opinion supports freedom of religion #1923515GadolhadorahParticipantCuomo again pushed the envelope one step too far and did so with a legal and political tin ear. Even the majority SCOTUS decision acknowledged that in very limted cases, severe restrictions may be required as a last resort and the justices will defer to the public health experts. In this case however, the NYS restrictions were per se discriminatory in that they imposed different restrictions on similarly situated gatherings and failed to first consider less intrusive measures.
GadolhadorahParticipantNote that I said “appeared”. I have no “special insight” as to safety and efficacy of vaccine development beyond comments from Fauci and lower-level professionals I know and trust within NIH and CDC who do have varying levels of insight and were confident regarding the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines using a new platform. However, tonight there appear to be some questions regarding the most recently announced AstroZenica vaccine related to the contrarian results where some patients only received a half dose on the first round but showed higher efficacy. In the end, we will have to wait for another 2 weeks until the CDC issues its findings on the EUA.
GadolhadorahParticipantAt some point, step back and realize you are being trolled by some not-so-good trollers. Personally, I found some wonderful meds for my own case of TDS with relatively few side-effects.
GadolhadorahParticipantIt is NOT a binary choice. We do have public officials with an IQ above that of a carrot who have good policy instincts (albeit not on all issues) but don’t find it necessary to engage in pritzus, racist and misogynistic rants and bullying of anyone who doesn’t genuflect to them. Sadly, they typically don’t end up as the candidates from which we choose our Presidents.

As to Cuba, for those of you who haven’t had an opportunity to visit the Island, good news is that Biden has said he will lift the Trump-era rules which have restricted even “educational” tours to the island. There is a small but vibrant frum community in Havana (90 percent of yidden left under Castro).GadolhadorahParticipantReb E: Incredible story and thanks for sharing how, bachasdei hashem, you and your family were able to arrive in the U.S. Your postings add considerable substance to the CR exchanges as in the case here.
GadolhadorahParticipantReb E: Thanks for the vert on Ungarishe wisdom….they often get a bad rap and are the subject of not so funny expressions. Some day we should have a thread here in the CR on all things Ungarishe (the 10 greatest Ungarishe gadolim, your favorite ungarishe food, personal visits to Hungary and how did modern Hungary end up as the most pro-Trump state in Europe?)
GadolhadorahParticipantReb E: A good Ungarishe friend who taught me her secret recipe for REAL Gefilte Fish (a good twitter tag, while I think of it) also had a saying appropriate for these times:
A türelem rózsát teremt..” which literally means something like “patience creates roses” but more to the wisdom shown by Joe biden over the past 20 days, “good things ultimately come to those who display patience”,“Patience creates roses.”entce”.

Huhhh????? Either you haven’t ever been on the internet, OR youare living in a cave somewhere off the grid. That excludes the billions of documents that may have relevance to normal yidden in their everday life from how to register their minivan to changing the air filter on their lawn mower. And, of course, telemedicine appointments with you doc when you don’t want to go into an office and wait for 30 minutes in a room with sick people, ordering groceries so you don’t have to waste time and get up close and personal with other shoppers at Persimmon, transferring funds to the virtual tzadakah box via Zele, changing you health insurance open during open season, making a tee time for golf on Sunday AM after davening and and ordering a refill on your meds.

Yes. Otisville (aka “Club Fed”) is within the 100 mile perimeter defining a “local” move under Moishe’s tariff sheets. Many ehrliche yiddeshe “businessmen” will vouch for its facilities. While it doesn’t have an 18 hole golf course, there is a really nice miniature golf course on the north side of the exercise yard between the two guard towers.
GadolhadorahParticipant“If the state can mandate what you do with your body, then why can’t the state dictate whether someone gets pregnate “…
Several reasons. First, getting “pregnate” requires TWO people to be participants and even then, there is no guarantee. Second, and perhaps more to the point, the SCOTUS decision cited earlier was not a per se mandate for getting vaccinated but the right of state or local government to make vaccination a prerequisite for someone to participate in certain public activities where there failure to get vaccinated poses a threat to others. If you wanted to live in your basement and not step foot outside, there is no such legal mandate.November 23, 2020 10:35 pm at 10:35 pm in reply to: Michigan just certified for Biden. Syag: I’m thinking about a sequel so I have something else to obsess about. I’m open to suggestions….perhaps a docu-drama about a former President “transitioning” to life as a private citizen in the Sunshine State while under investigation by prosecutors in the Empire State. Does anyone know if Alex Baldwin is available? Possible title: Where the Sun Doesn’t Shine…..GadolhadorahParticipantThe movie just ended. Trump just conceded (or as close as we will get) by ordering GSA to start the transition planning Tuesday AM.
Chatzi hallel with shachris tomorrow AM??
GadolhadorahParticipant“We need Meir Kahane A”H to stand front and center, and shout Never Again!”
Acutally, we need Gadolei Yisroel to speak with a clear and single voice and call out the few among them who have allowed such disgusting actions as the “Satmar 7000 potential rochztim wedding” and say Never Again should any group of yidden hold such events until we have a sufficiently high level of vaccination. edited* There is a deafening silence form other Jewish leaders aside from Dov Hikind. What the Satmar did and what other copycats may do will likely result in dangerous levels of covid transmission before we have herd immunity through vaccination.
* better, but not enough
GadolhadorahParticipantrightwriter…..I suspect most of the CR posters have figuratively had masks sewn on for the past several months and understand that we will probably have to continue wearing masks for at least several months after being vaccinated. Yes, there are yidden whose reckless and mindless behavior …edited… but most yidden have followed the guidelines. The best estimates now is that the U.S. will need at least 200 million vaccinated before the “herd immunity’ from a combination of vaccine induced antibodies and those who have already had the Covid can be relied upon.
GadolhadorahParticipantEither take the vaccine or have an N-95 mask surgically implanted over your mouth and nose.
GadolhadorahParticipantBiden needs to get the country back on some degree of normalcy and will not entertain any efforts by his fringe lefties to push a crazy agenda. He will have a number of progressive women and minority appointments in agencies like Interior, Agriculture and HHS but will have steady, trusted and experienced appointees in DOD, State, DOJ and Treasury. He will have some “progressive” Day 1 decisions like restoring DACA status, signing notice of intent to rejoin the Paris accords etc. But he won’t remove Iran sanctions, outlaw all fossil fuel leasing on federal lands or “tear down” those few sections of the wall Trump was able to complete.
Yes, there will be right/left tensions within the Democratic Party but I suspect they will be manageable.November 22, 2020 1:20 pm at 1:20 pm in reply to: Massive Pennsylvania Supreme Court Defeat for Trump’s Incompetent Legal Team #1922020GadolhadorahParticipantHe was an Obama appointee originally promoted by former Sen Rick Santorum (R-PA) who is now a Trump surrogate on TV and blue slipped by Pat Toomey, the current Republican Senator from PA. He is an active member of the Federalist Society and respected Republican who was supported by virtually every Republican senator when his nomination came to the floor. Highly respected by everyone except Crazy Rudy whose 2 hours in his courtroom shreeded any remaining credibility. His decision in this case will be required reading in 1L constitutional law and federal procedure classes for decades. Depending on the 3d Circuit panel, his decision will likely be upheld. Not sure if they will ask for an en banc hearing or try to move to Scotus.

Health: You are right. They were filed by REAL lawyers who actually knew the legal standards of review and evidentiary requirements, knew the definition of “opacity’, did not hold news conferences in the parking lots of Adult Book stores and most importantly, did not shmear Just for Men/Dark Brown on their heads just before a news conference to roll out the 5th iteration of the “opening argument” oftheir legal strategy.
Yes, these 36 cases were filed by real lawyers, but sadly for the Trumpkopf, each was rejected, thrown out proceduraly or withdrawn when the affiants realized that they could go to jail for swearing to a false statement.November 22, 2020 11:29 am at 11:29 am in reply to: Massive Pennsylvania Supreme Court Defeat for Trump’s Incompetent Legal Team #1921980GadolhadorahParticipantKol Hakovod to Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-NJ-09) who just today filed petitions in Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, New York, and Pennsylvania (the states where Crazy Rudy holds a license to practice) seeking the disbarment of Rudolph Giuliani based on his fraudulent and knowingly false statements in support of attempts to overturn the 2020 election results. Similiar efforts to sanction Giuliani and other “lawyers” appearing in these cases have been filed under Rule 11 of the Federal rules of procedure. Sadly, it can take a year or longer before a bar association rules on such petitions so the circus parade may continue for the near term.
GadolhadorahParticipantGadol: what are you looking forward to most?
Restoring some normalcy and civility to our political system and removing the stench emanating from the oval office.
And yes, elections do have consequences, as the Trumpkopf has reminded us for the past 3 1/2 years. I would expect that Biden will reverse many of the Executive Orders that have been issued by Trump as he can w/o having to go through a full APA rulemaking procedure. Some I agree with, others not but many of us feel the net change will be a vast improvement for our country. Clearly, others don’t.November 22, 2020 1:37 am at 1:37 am in reply to: Massive Pennsylvania Supreme Court Defeat for Trump’s Incompetent Legal Team #1921842GadolhadorahParticipant“How can anyone comment without seeing any evidence??””
Thats the problem for this judge in Pennsylvania and at least 8 or 9 other federal and state judges in 5 states who have thrown out the Trump cases. In half these cases where they had submitted affidavits, they were vague assertions with no specifics. Crazy Rudy blamed the media for not investigating the “global conspiracy” and promised that he had a “secret plan” to prove it . Times up Mr. Mayor A courtroom is not the parking lot of an adult book store where you can scream nareshkeit and expect a judge to take you seriously. Its called “evidence” and two weeks later you’ve shown none. Case dismissed with prejudice.!!
GadolhadorahParticipantMy worst pickle moment was surprisingly at 30,000 feet on the old Eastern shuttle on a flight out of LGA (I’m dating myself). I had purchased several containers of sour pickles from my favorite supplier (see comments above about Guss’) and had put them in the overhead rack along with my carry-on. This was in the pre-security days when you could still pack just about anything but your machatonim in your carry-on. Somehow the cap on one container came loose and on the approach descent into Logan, the pickling liquid leaked out and dripped down the overhead rack from near the back to the front of the aircraft. Was perhaps my most geshmak flight and since the whole plane quickly had that smell, the flight attendants never figured out where it was coming from.

A conservative Republican Judge in the Pennsylvania case tonight issued an opinion addressing each of Rudy’s theories and eviscerating them along with the proposed remedies. I can understand Trump wanting to drag this out but surprised that you and several other normally rational and substantive posters don’t get that its over.
November 19, 2020 11:39 pm at 11:39 pm in reply to: Massive Pennsylvania Supreme Court Defeat for Trump’s Incompetent Legal Team #1921519GadolhadorahParticipantCan you imagine how thrilled the Trumpkopf must have been this afternoon watching his personal lawyer and chief legal beagle, Crazy Rudy, holding forth at a press conference at the Republican National Committee offices on Capital Hill to explain their plans to overturn the Pennsylvania results. While the venue was a step up from their last press conference in the parking lot of an adult book store in suburban Philly, Crazy Rudy managed to divert attention from his hand waving and screaming as two lines of hair coloring slowly dripped down either side of his face. Finally, one of the other members of the clown team had rachmonis on him and whispered in his ear about the slow “Just for Men/Dark Brown” drip and he handed off the presser to her while he ran offstage to clear his face.
In some respects, you gotta feel sorry for Crazy Rudy? Can you imagine if the Trumpkopf did one of his White House “briefings” with orange spray paint running down his nose??GadolhadorahParticipantRepublicans: DJT is Moishiach

November 19, 2020 6:11 pm at 6:11 pm in reply to: Massive Pennsylvania Supreme Court Defeat for Trump’s Incompetent Legal Team #1921451GadolhadorahParticipantTo those who are grasping to a fantasy that one or more of the “cases” filed by the Trumpkopf will quickly end up at the Supreme Court, which will grant their request (however defined) to exclude millions of votes and award the election to Trumpkopf, get over it. He MIGHT get two votes (Alito and Thomas) and possibly a third but Roberts and Barrett actually do care about their reputations and legacy. Thats five votes. I also hopeful either Kavanaugh or Gorsuch (more likely the former) will also reject the Trump arguments.
November 19, 2020 7:51 am at 7:51 am in reply to: Massive Pennsylvania Supreme Court Defeat for Trump’s Incompetent Legal Team #1921192GadolhadorahParticipantHealth: There is something called Rule 11 under the Federal Rules of Procedure. An attorney has an obligation to affirm the accuracy/veracity of any reps he makes in a filing. Rudy can play word games at a press conference held outside an adult book store in suburban Philly…..not in a federal district courtroom. If you really think SCOTUS would take an appeal of this case, you need to take a refresher course in Con law and appellate procedure. I doubt that the 3d Cir would take it seriously much less SCOTUS.
November 18, 2020 9:09 pm at 9:09 pm in reply to: Massive Pennsylvania Supreme Court Defeat for Trump’s Incompetent Legal Team #1921158GadolhadorahParticipantI took a mental health break for a day or two hoping that even the few stubborn Trumkopf voices would finally realize the absolute insanity of what they were saying in the face of what are now roughly 20-25 adverse court decisions from both Republican and Democratic-appointed judges. The coup de grace’ was yesterday’s circus presented in Federal District Court in Pennsylvania by Rudy the Clown.
The Judge wisely allowed Rudy to rant for nearly 40 minutes on conspiracy theories at a national and global level without once ever presenting specific evidence of “fraud”. Finally, the judge begin asking some pointed legal questions about which standard of evidence should apply. The “normal one” responded Rudy, seemingly unable to understand the Judge’s question. Then he claimed that the Trump election observers were denied the “opacity” they were constituionally entitled to. When the Judge inquired whether he really meant “opacity” Rudy affirmed only to be call it “a big word” when the Judge explained it meant exactly the opposite of what he meant. Finally, when an exasperated Judge pushed Rudy to provide evidence to support his “fraud” allegations under statute, Rudy chastised the jduge for focusing on the documents filed by the Trump team rather than his verbal exposition in the courtroom. Once Rudy acknowledged there was no evidence of fraud, he cancelled tomorrow’s evidentiary hearing and seems prepared to rule by the end of the week.GadolhadorahParticipantHealth: I’ve seen all the movies about yidden and the X’tian moishiach. Trust me, it doesn’t end well for us. I’ll continue to take my signals from the guys running up and down Eastern Parkway waving yellow flags.
GadolhadorahParticipantYes. Yes. and Yes.
Trump voters reluctant to acknowledge their support and traditional polling metrics and procedures are obsolete. They don’t accurately select “likely voters” from both sides and their sampling universe misses “cord-cutters” who no longer have a landline phone. Finally, questions are unlikely to yield accurate responses.
Other than the foregoing problems, they are great sources of useless informationGadolhadorahParticipantLibbi; Chanukah comes before Purim. Be patient. There will be a time soon for ad’shelo’yada.
GadolhadorahParticipantSE2015: Agree with respect to the “disappearing middle” of the electorate and in Congress. We are more polarized than ever in recent times (even here in the CR). Not sure is there is a clear path to bridge the gap, or at least not clear for now.
GadolhadorahParticipantIts over in Pennsylvania. Apparently, Rudy “secret” strategy is to have the team restrict their pleadings to those that pass the laugh test. Earlier this evening, their Pennsylvania counsel amended their filing in federal district court removing the primary allegations that election officials violated the Trump campaign’s constitutional rights by limiting the ability of their observers to watch votes being counted and demanding that 600,000 Biden votes be invalidated. That leaves only the allegation that some Democratic-leaning counties may have allowed some voters to fix errors on their mail ballots. Republicans acknowledge that even if that could be proven (which it has not) it would only affect from several hundred to 3,000 votes statewide…not even close to having a material affect on outcomes.
I suspect their “secret” legal strategy will be a פארבלאנדזשעט allegation of a NATIONWIDE conspiracy involving the election officials of 28 states (more than half controlled by Republicans) and the DNC to have their election software ” change” millions of Trump votes to Biden. This coming days after Trump’s own Director of Computer Security at HHS declares that there were NO significant hacking or software issues that affected the election.
Does anyone recall the day the circus came to town and they paraded the elephants and clowns from the train station to the fairgrounds and there were those guys in the back of the parade with brooms and shovels. I feel sorry for the poor young lawyers who are wondering why they went to law school only to have to be marching at the end of this parade to nowhere.GadolhadorahParticipantCommonSaychel: I think it does….spending $$$ with NO MESSAGE other than fear of the other guys was not going flip senate seats in historically red states or even hold moderate House seats in purple districts. The DEMS fortunately pulled back enough suburban votes to flip a few states where people voted AGAINST Trump rather than FOR Biden. That strategy didn’t work when the target was a lackluster Republican congressional candidate who didn’t benefit from Biden’s coattails since there were no coattails.
GadolhadorahParticipantSo the Trumpkopf just tweeted that most of the dozen or so losing lawsuits that had been filed thusfar seeking to invalidate the results, block certification of Biden wins etc. (and thrown out or rejected by federal and state courts) “WERE NOT OURS”. Instead, he now says that the world’s greatest litigator, Crazy Rudy (aka Guiliani) will “soon” begin filing their cases and the Courts will then reverse the Biden win as unconstitutional and declare the Trumpkopf as the winner. In his interview today on Fox News, Crazy Rudy insisted he could not disclose his secret evidence that will be filed this week and reverse the outcome in all the key states. Stay tuned!!
GadolhadorahParticipantNeither side offered a “positive” outlook for America. Red warned of the “darkening of America” with demographic changes translated into BLM/Antifah/Hispanic gang violence and massive wealth transfers from Whites to minorities. Blue warned of government takeover by Fascism, white supremacists etc. with loss of basic freedoms, denial of access to basic health care, housing etc. for tens of millions of Americans who aren’t part of the Stock Market winners Trump uses to measure “success”.
FEAR has always been weaponized by BOTH sides in our electoral processes but never to the extent and with the success we have seen in the past year.GadolhadorahParticipantMy kids were asking me whether the Trumpkopf actually believes any of the craziness he is tweeting and assuming its all part of his marketing schtick to keep the MAGA and Trump brands energized with his followers, when will he realize it may go too far and push the country over the edge into the abyss.
Sad part is that I don’t know the answer to either question. Perhaps others here know ending to this horror movie. -
