Try asking for “adjoining rooms” rather than “suites”. Typically they are configured with a single king/queen bed in one room and two queen/double beds in the adjoining room which is the most commonly requested configuration for families where the parents stay in one room and the kids in the other.

Joe Biden will be president at 12:01 PM on January 20th only because hashem wanted him in the Oval Office. Thats the way it was determined to be whether you call it a “democracy” or “autocracy” or just a country temporarily under the control of a lunatic.

Common Saychel: While I respect much of your offerings here, I think the biggest mistake many of us made over the past 4 years was to somehow expect that once elected President, there would be a “pivot” towards civility and normalcy, that NEVER came. This guy was always a vile, narcissistic bully in his business dealings were never conducted with “respect’ or in accordance with commercial “norms”. He is going out the same way he went in, and a lot of us (myself included) were fools for believing in some “pivot” that never came. Indeed, I will leave it to those with professional training as to whether the Oval Office actually worsened an already self-destructive downward spiral.

Today’s mindless rants of Repubicans accusing their political opponents of being “radical socialists” are a pathetic shadow of their 1950s predicates accusing political opponents of being “Communists”. Today’s Senate has perhaps 2 or 3 Dems out of 50 who at times have advocated economic policies akin to some of those in “socialist” economies. On the House side, the number is about 10 to 15 out of roughly 225.
As to those who tonight have somehow argued that the Trumpkopf asked for a “peaceful protest” after first ordering his followers dressed in military lvush to “march to the Capital” and then waiting for over an hour after they broke into the House and Senate chambers to issue his plea for peace, look in the mirror and try to keep a straight face. Again, a bleated kol hakovod to Republicans like Pence, Graham, Mike Lee, Chip Roy etc. who decided that they did not want to be remembered in the history books as servile sycophants to Trump.

If you could have a private dinner with one living person (not a politician to conform to the terms of the OP) who would it be? Just to be mindful of tzinius concerns, if the person you have in mind is of the opposite gender, who would you suggest to your spouse or friend?

Also, Kol Hakovod to VP Pence for belatedly finding his backbone and finally saying ITS OVER and pushing back on the insanity of the Trumpkopf and Crazy Rudy and saying enough is enough and allowing the elector verification process to move forward (albeit delayed by the required debate for the objections I suspect will be raised against verification for 6 or 7 states). Its never to late to do political tshuvah.

SCHUMER (excuse all caps) While the dirtbag in the WH was tweeting his lies and his vermin were rioting on Capital Hill, the vote count in Georgia was complete and with two new Democratic Senators, Schumer is now the Majority Leader. I’m as “progressive” as anyone else in the CR but this meshugaas about referencing a specific person in a conversation among many people as “they” rather than “him/her” is a bit crazy and frequently results in confusion, especially now on Zoom conference calls where you are referencing the negotiating position of a specific party versus another group. Most major law firms and investment banks have adopted rules similar to those in the House but with all respect, they are VERY confusing even though the objective of inclusion is laudatory.

Well, the big evening “Stop the Steal” rally is over. You can easily find some early video on Utube and the right wing websites. As the Trumpkopf would say “it was Huuuge”.
Several hundred attendees, 95 percent guys in their late 20s to early 40s dressed in camo jackets listening to one right wing nutcase initially leading a chant whose only intelligible lyrics were “XXX Antifah” followed by an even more bizarre “medical expert” claiming that Covid was “fake” but then touting his own magical drug that cured 100% of the (fake) cases he treated. (And no, it was different from Reb Zelko’s HCQ Coctail). He ended the spiel with an impassioned demand that all the ehrliche (maskless) Trumpkopfs shivering in front of the stage “hug someone you don’t know so we can make tonight a MASS SPREADER EVENT” like lhe ones they have at the White House. Sadly, most of these camo dressed guys looked to their left and right and seemed very uncomfortable with the directive to get “up close and personal” with a fellow Trumpkopf. As the music started playing, the headed off into the night excited about the BIG WILD EVENT tomorrow AM a few blocks away on the elipse where the TRUMPKOPF himself will be the major attraction.
Sadly, we will miss this type of SNL level comedy once BORING Joe moves in to the WH in about 3 weeks, after fumigation and disinfection are completed.

Syag: Too bad you still cannot understand that many parents absolutely need some level of child-care assistance and there simply aren’t that many frum bnos yisroel willing to step forward to do this kind of work on a regular basis at near-minimum wage. I suspect those parents would be thrilled if they had the option of hiring a young Jewish woman who would care for their kids while offering a model of torah and hashkafah.

I also think there are two entirely separate tracks being addressed in respond to the OP. There are non-Jewish “nannies” placed by specialized agencies, many of whom are live-in and care for children on an as needed basis, assist in virtual learning etc. such while the parents are at work or on travel. They are fully documented, well-trained and well-paid. There are also non-jewish child-care aides who come to the home a few hours a week to help clean, take the younger kids for a walk etc and generally earn a minimum wage. Two totally different worlds and raise totally separate issues.

CA: Again, in a perfect world, a nanny or child care assistant wouldn’t be necessary and parents could take of all their kids’ needs. A loving mother and father are ALWAYS the best nanny. However, in many cases thats not today’s real world (we could debate why on another thread) so for many families help is necessary. Likewise, relative few frum young women seek out the formal training for child care (not a college degree) which are prerequisites for most agencies who do the background checks on child care assistants they place. If you are talking about simply hiring a young woman off the street with no training, than obviously thats a problem whether she is jewish or non-jewish.

” why would you trust your precious nechomas to a shiksa?”
Because many of those “shiksas” as you mindlessly refer to non-jewish women, are much better trained in child-care and willing to work hard to assist working parents or those with large families. They are not substitute parents but in many cases are critical to the ability of those parents to earn a parnassah and give individual time to each of their children. Obviously, if there is a responsible baas yisroel who is equally well-trained and willing to work the long hours, than that would be ideal.

    Bored Guy:
Now we know why you are so bored. You must still be living in a time warp. Rod Rosenstein resigned back in May 2019 and is now a partner at K&S. Jeff Rosen (who replaced Rosenstein as acting AG) became acting AG on Christmas Eve when Barr “went back to spend more time with his family” (or to avoid being fired by the Trumkopf for not finding evidence of systemic election fraud). If you don’t even know who is the Acting AG, not sure we should have any confidence in your constitutional scholarship.

UJM: I guess you get some perverse pleasure in knowingly flaunting your ignorance of constitutional law (or any “legal” issue for that matter). In addition to the points made by CT lawyer above, perhaps the most breathtakingly stupid comment is that the “AG gets to determine” the constitutionality of any law. Nope. He (or any aggrieved party that can demonstrate standing) can ask a court to make such a finding but cannot unilaterally make such a determination. Otherwise, it would render the legislative branch a nullity. SCOTUS gets to revisit a prior decision and decide it was “wrongly decided” but Presidents don’t have that option.

With all respect, not many frum yidden (or even goyim for that matter) go to Costco hoping for an “inappropriate” finger touch with the cashier or an arm touch with the guy helping you load 2x4s at Home Depot. If you are talking about someone with some “emotional” or “mental health” problems deliberately seeking to make an inappropriate physical contact in the context of some normal social or commercial interaction than I guess the OP didn’t make that clear. Obviously, the latter could be a matter of negiah or tzinius (as well as violation of secular criminal law if the touching goes beyond a certain level).

Obviously its “possible” although hopefully doesn’t happen with any frequency. Many of these “gadolim” are elderly, hard-of-hearing, may not be fluent in English (in most photos they have one of their gaaboirm whispering in their ear) etc. All of these factors give rise to the risk of questions not being fully heard and understood, or the subject matter may be highly technical to a “lay person” (even though a gadol, not all are experts in highly complex technology, medical or business issues). We have to assume that when uncertain, they ask for more information, for the question to be repeated or clarified or referred to another rav more expert in the subject matter. But we have to assume that someone intent on getting a certain answer may occasionally be able to frame their question or withhold crucial information to get a desired outcome.

You gotta give credit to these Trumpkpf Repubicans for choosing one of the dumbest member of the House to sponsor the dumbest piece of litigation in the 247 year history of our constitution. (Note that I say “one of the dumbest” since that honor belongs to one of the Dems who several years ago questioned Air Force officials at an oversight hearing about moving a new B-52 squadron to a Pacific Air Base on Guam and whether the “massive weight” of the planes might “unbalance” the island).
All of this craziness is great news for the Dems since it will likely result in a small percentage of the Trumpkopfs realizing how crazy he really is and revert to some sense of normal for the next election cycle. Sadly, this percentage at best might be 5-10 percent but that is several million voters, enough to make a bid difference in the 2020 election cycle.

Unless I’m missing something, neither Fauci or any of the other NIH or FDA scientists ever took any credit for the Pfizer (or Moderna)_vaccine. Actually, Fauci has frequently praised the Pfizer researchers who were the ones who made it possible. The new platform used in the development of the Moderna vaccine actually does have some significant input over a decade from government scientists although again, the vaccine itself was entirely the product of Moderna.

The only place where the Trumplkopf’s image is likely to appear is on a “Top 10” list maintained by the FBI once the state AGs get access to his tax records. As you note, all the foreign aid funding was part of HIS original FY21 budget request submitted back in September. He is simply trying to find some reason to have the attention focused on him so he can claim credit for either an increased relief check or for even signing the original bill he threatened to veto. Fortunately, this choleria will be gone in 26 days. If people die because of his delaying this bill, I suspect Air Force One may just have to drop him in the Swamp (Everglades) on a long roundabout approach to West Palm Beach Airport since his neighbors have invoked his agreement never to use Mar a Lago for a permanent residence.
