Gmail (and other messaging platforms) have a “learning” capability that identify your frequently used words or terms that are not in their dictionary and will “autocomplete” in certain circumstances and correct misspellings to conform with your preferred usage. Generally, though, you need to “opt-in” and turn on these features but perhaps you have done so or your other preferences roll in those features.

Some of the threads here have gotten so absurd that is difficult to distinguish a bad troll from a poorly conceived post. Rely on your local rav/posek for advice and if you don’t have confidence in their guidance, find a new one where you do. Importantly, don’t rely on advice you get here for a miracle worker to provide you with a guaranteed segulah.

He also moved the nameplate on a building from Tel Aviv to Yerushalayim but what does that have to do with his deliberate efforts to legitimize anti-semitism by providing a platform for some of the worst Jew-haters in our country and promoting racist and anti-semitic tropes.

Once a Rav matirs, can you ask another Rav for an issur?

Context could be important. For example, if a couple has a disagreement regarding chinuch for their child and agree to consult their Rav for guidance, and the Rav provides a more permissive psak, it would seem inappropriate for the losing party that wanted the issur to then demand a “second opinion” hoping to get a more restrictive opinionl

Just to be aware that you can get a passport renewed in as little as 48 hours if you have “documentation” of a near-term trip. Just have your travel agent book a tentative travel itinerary for flights leaving within 15 days (w/hotel res) and that would be sufficient. Even routine passport applications are now being processed considerably more quickly and the Covid-backlog is essentially gone.

When these “fools” have a megaphone amplified by 32 million social media followers and are explicitly giving kovod to the murderer of 6 million yiddeshe neshomos, perhaps those who speak out are not being “ultra sensitive”.

“girls who work in a law firm for 20 years automatically wouldn’t classify themselves as “Yeshivish.”

AR: Nor would they classify themselves as “girls”. If you’ve been working as an attorney in a law firm for 20 years, you are likely in your mid-40s; even an LA would be in her late 30s/early 40s. Either way you are a WOMAN. Otherwise, I would agree that most frum women working in a law firm would likely identify as MO.

HaLevi: Its happening, whether you consider it “silly” or not. The political and religious culture wars have intensified efforts to ban or marginalize published materials that might not have been controversial several years ago but now are deemed offensive or even dangerous. I would agree that the media have been overly sensitive to the snowflakes whose “sensibilities” are offended by “trigger words” but censorship at both ends of the political and religious spectrum is clearly on the rise.

CA: I definitely WOULD vote for certain centrist Republicans and Democrats over either Biden or Trump. Its sad that our political system in general, and primary systems in particular, seems unable to yield outcomes that would reflect the incredible talent on both sides of the aisle but thats for another day.

We live in a time when it has become the norm to “ban” writings containing offensive ideas, disruptive methods of learning and analysis and cultural taboos, whether they be secular, religious or combinations of both. The notion is that exposure to this offensive material will cause irrevocable harm to the reader w/o any offsetting benefits. Often, the same materials have been reviewed and endorsed by other so called elites coming from a different world view. Seems that we have less and less confidence in the ability of individuals to make critical distinctions and form their own opinions and instead must rely upon some elite group of critics to filter what they are allowed to read and absorb.

Assuming the OP is accurately reporting anecdotal headlines unrelated to Trump (which I would dispute but willing to stipulate) the real issue here is that the recent events with Trump and Kanye West/Fuentes represent an unprecedented effort by a former President seeking to regain office to legitimize /provide a platform to blatant anti-Semites for his own personal aggrandizement and solidify support from the far right-wing of his base. Dems have their own anti-Semites on the far left but nothing at this level with a Presidential contender. YWN is correct to highlight this existential threat at the level it has.

On a list of the 10 most dysfunctional websites I frequently encounter, the CR is probably one of the least annoying. Indeed, some of its quirks are a bit endearing in a world where we worry about c’v the role of social media postings to trigger hate crimes and violence. Little things like a search functionality for archived threads and posts might be helpful in the next upgrade but overall, it seems to work well for what it is designed to do.

Think about it. Approximately 6 or 7 of the lamud vuv tzadikim are regulars here in the CR. Extrapolate that to the greater tzibur at large, many of whom have not received a heter from their LRPs to be here on the internet.

The “speed” of signal transmission across 4G and 5G networks and repeater stations at cell towers is identical for network owners and those wholesalers who lease capacity and resell under own brands. However, there are likely small but measurable speed differentials attributable to the server interfaces used to ID and validate those resale customers and record their information for billing purposes.

The law in NY is fairly clear that pedestrians should not enter a crosswalk once the “don’t walk” red or yellow warning lights begin flashing. However, unless there is an intervening median strip, drivers should not seek to complete a right turn if the pedestrian has already entered the crosswalk.

I recall several times over the years where there were those who questioned whether an elderly rav might not have fullyunderstood the questions and factual predicates surrounding an issue before a psak or kol koreh was issued in his name. There were insinuations of dementia or manipulation by his gaboim. Yet, we do NOT have age limits or mandatory retirement rules for our gadolim or roshei yeshivos. I would submit that their responsibilities to the tzibur are no less significant than our those of our elected offiicals.

For many of us, the excesses of some Chassideshe simchas involving thousands of people with bands, banners and tables overflowing with food and drink are a lot more problematic than some frum parents who engage a DJ with some strobe lights for their yinglach’s bar mitzvah.

The PRC has been “monitoring” overseas nationals and expats for decades. The more recent focus is on grad students at top American universities and nationals employed in leading high-tech companies and in some of the U.S. national labs. The U.S. is sufficiently concerned about “leakage” of high-tech secrets to China that they pressured the Israeli delegation attending the White House negotiations last week on expanding U.S.-Israel technology collaboration to cancel Israel’s recent agreement to share some of its high-tech programs with China.
