Emunah V’Omanut is in Israel but American-run.

MT: deadline is in a little while (actually, I don’t even know when the deadline is, but I still have time).

Sharfmans: I have some “concerns” that I need cleared first – working on that.

Another thing about MT is that it is together with many other seminaries for meals and such. I want somewhere that is smaller and homier.

Lilmod, mainly about dorms, food. However, this might not be true, and it shouldn’t be a deciding factor.

What type of girls go to MT?

I spoke to one of the recent teachers/alumnae and she kept on telling me it was for “everyone” not just one frumkeit level. However, this could just be a marketing thing.

Most of the seminaries I am looking into, the deadline is tonight.

For any of those who know Tomer Devorah (lilmod, so thankful for that suggestion, interested in it in the end), are they both catered to the same type of girl, generally speaking?

I really appreciate all help on CR! I have no seminary counselor really, so just trying to figure this out on my own with others – you included!

lilmod: I want something academic, but not overly so. I am a bit worried though, because I have never learned Gemara, and being in combined classes for Judaics, I may not be on par with some of the girls.

However, that “type” of school (academic – maybe a drop less – , religious yet tzioni, small, open Hashkafah) is what I’m looking for.

However, I guess I have more modern Hashkafah: I like the idea of girls learning Gemara, I am slightly feministic, I want to celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut.

Frumkeit – frum (though not Bais Yaakov, in-town Frum, more out-of-town Frum where girls can get away with not wearing socks, that type of thing, watch secular music/moves (absolutely not Lashon Hara, moderators, unless you believe this to be bad, which in my humble opinion, reflects only your opinion not Halachah per se, and I listen/watch secular media and am not ashamed of it).

3. Not so Yeshivish or jappy

It absolutely would be Lashon Hora to say about a school that it condones secular music/movies. This is not “my” (or “our”) opinion of Halachah, it is actually a clear Halachah in Shulchan Aruch (regarding literature), and movies have explicitly been called assur by numerous more recent Gedolei Haposkim.

Basically, I am looking for an open-minded, more MO than BY seminary, where an out-of-towner would feel comfortable, and is preferably small.

When I said Zionist I really just meant that they celebrate Yom Ha’atzmaut, say Emet instead of Emes; I don’t mean outwardly anti-religious…

Have any of you ever heard of Ba’er Miriam? I was recommended it by a friend, though she only knows how it was several years ago when she lived nearby.
