@Commomsaychel
Never said there was just Chabad, was just answering to the question of why they live there… and that remark was not made towards all those other big rabbis.
And as this thread was about fundraisers I mentioned some of the ones I personally knew about.
There is a big belz community, although I haven’t seen a fundraiser for them (if I missed it then pls send a link), so they didn’t really have to do with the answer.funnyoneParticipantAlmost all of these fundraisers are legitimate. Why there are a lot is because each one is focusing on different things.
If you support Chabad, it depends on which city, if they’re on the east you’re supporting cities that are being bombed and you’re helping the Shluchim literally get food for people in the city that can’t get themselves (like older people) and on the east its getting harder and more expensive to get food.
If you support Shluchim and cities on the west you are mostly supporting the thousands of refugees that are pouring into those cites, they also need food and where to sleep.
The city of Kharkov is also doing its own fundraiser- it’s the second largest city in Ukraine and right by the Russian border, they have tons of people they need to help.
If you support hatzalah you are supporting all their efforts…
And basically almost all of these campaigns are legitimate, just look at what each specific one is doing.
(I do have to mention that I only heard of one that’s fake- that’s there’s no orphanage In the city of Mariupol, so that one might not be good, heard that from a rabbi that’s in Ukraine)funnyoneParticipantBeslalel,
“Before I give anyone any money I want to know what I’m gods name were you doing there.”
They came because there are Jews there that didn’t have any connection to yiddishkeit (who now do BH). As simple as that.“They put themselves in harms way for no obvious reason and now need money for what? To get back to crown heights and kfar chabad?”
First if all, no they did not purposely put themselves in harm’s ways, they didn’t hear of a war brewing and then said amazing idea let’s move there. They were there for years already, way before any of this started. Many of them are even second generation, the children of Shluchim who now are there on shlichus.
And if you need to know what they need money for? No it’s not to move back to crown heights or Kfar Chabad (yes some of them are in the process of fleeing- but I doubt to those locations. Probably just to the eastern border and to help the Jews there)
The ones that aren’t need to the money for food, not sure how much ur aware but eastern Ukraine is pretty much blocked off by the Russians and there’s practically a black market for food, so the more money they have the more food they can get for the elderly.funnyoneParticipantUkraine might not have been the best to Jews, but to imply that the war is okay because of that??? There are thousands of Jews on both sides and no war is good no matter how bad they were to us. Yes we should be crying and saying tehillim over this war- not just Hashem.
funnyoneParticipantYes they knew for weeks and have been stocking up. That you are right about. But no, not everyone had the ability to actually flee and leave Ukraine. Many of the Jews there don’t have visas for other countries.
The hatzalah video you saw, his wife and children got out BH, but he is staying behind to help the Jews that are stuck there.
Also all Chabad Shluchim there have passports to either the US or Israel and they all chose to stay behind and help those that arent able to leave.
And if you’re able to- donate, they actually need it.funnyoneParticipantChabad is open to all people and from experience they will not make a big deal about tof/saf. That should be the least of your worries when you try it out.
Not sure which area you’re in but there might even be more than one Chabad place and definitely try it out! -
