Now, finally, someone has given a rational explanation of the double slit experiment!

Interaction with photons. I like that. Makes perfect sense. Undeniable logic.

Now if only the physicists would hear about this they would cease their skepticism and insistence that the double slit experiment admits to no rational explanation.

Sparkly is the only one here who understands the double slit experiment. Her wonderment and appreciation is very much like that of the greatest physicists themselves, albeit with less understanding of how truly “irrational” it is.

I find a feeling of emptiness comes from not being busy fulfilling my purpose that I was placed here for.

Are you busy looking for opportunities to do Chesed at your job. To make everything you do there into a Kiddush Hashem. To be at least be osek in doing your job l shaym shamayim, bringing home parnassah to raise ovdei Hashem.

The same when you come home.

I find that a feeling of emptiness comes from making myself the focus of my thoughts and actions.

Rabbi Avigdor Miller, zt’l called “nature” the other Torah. It’s the Torah that Avraham Aveinu learned.

You love it because Hashem can be felt there more readily.

That’s what the “beauty” in the world is that artists try so hard to capture but really can’t.

It’s Hashem that they sense in the mountains and clouds that stirs their hearts. In physics and biology and such, if you are sensitive to Him, He stirs the emotions of your intellect.

It’s called the double slit experiment and you described it in its essence quite well.

I think the only thing it conclusively proves is that things are not always (probably not ever) as we rationally understand them.

It is highly suggestive however, along with all the other “spooky” (as physicists themselves refer to them) occurrences, that there is something out there that gives causality to the universe that we may be too limited to be capable of understanding

Famous physicist richard feynman on quantum physics: ” It is my task to convince you not to turn away because you don’t understand it. You see my physics students don’t understand it… That is because I don’t understand it. Nobody does.”

He, or someone else like him said: (I don’t know the exact quote but basically):anyone who claims to understand quantum mechanics doesn’t understand it.

The person who wrote the “translation” is a friend of my cousin, who sent me a copy. He is a completely secular, erudite scholar. In the world of goyish academia this is recognized as a scholarly, accurate translation. I asked a shaila as to whether I could throw it directly into the garbage.

I feel like you’re a friend of mine in need here of an outside perspective.

I think you were right in the matter of what your niece should not do.

But I don’t think that’s an issue right now anymore.

Your brothers family is probably insulted. They feel you were meddling in something that was none of your business. And worse you essentially accused them of poor judgement and incapable of handling their own lives. Maybe implying they were not as Frum as they should be. I don’t know.

I do know if it were me. After mulling over my hurt feelings for a while and reaffirming to myself from every angle how I was right, I would start thinking. Okay I’m right but they don’t think so, and they were hurt. What can I do now to restore Shalom among us. What can I do to make sure we stay close and loving.

I would probably go to them and say something like this:

Look. I really am sorry. You guys are certainly capable of making decisions like this. You sure don’t need MY advice. I apologize. It’s just that I love her so much and I was worried about her. I let my fears and emotions take control and maybe I meddled more than I should have. Whatever you all decide is certainly fine with me. It’s just that I know what goes on there and was worried how such a precious Neshamah could come out of there without being affected even a little.

I’m truly sorry and will try to be more trusting in your decisions in the future.

I didn’t say that well but that’s the gist.

    Something like that.

That’s what I think you yourself maybe really want to do

I can only speak for myself.

My perception is that jeans are the epitome of casual and common, the exact opposite of formal.

Being of Royal blood, and as a representative of The King, my father, I would never wear denim jeans.

the next line of that same post:”…many possible explanations other than the bombardment of the immune system with vaccines.”

Health I like you. And you seem to be smart. Your apparent failure to comprehend and respond to even the simplest meaning of other persons posts, let alone the obvious implications must stem from an unbridled need to be perceived as correct, such an untempered need, regardless of any logic or relevance, even if the result is to appear to be a fool.

There is no purpose in responding to your posts.

And even if you think it’s not “reasonable”, perhaps at least it’s not “insane” to want to be selective in choosing which vaccines your child gets. And scheduling them in a manner that might be less of an acute bombardment on their vitally crucial developing immune system.

Many of the anti-vaccers might be nut-cases.

But even they are the same nut-cases that were eating tofu and salad while you were blithely stuffing yourself with hotdogs and doughnuts. (not you)

there is a generally accepted notion nowadays that inflammation is a very important causal component of heart disease. Maybe hypertension, strokes, diabetes as well. It’s an epidemic.

Any relation to the early stimulation of an immature sensitive immune system?

What’s the vaccination rates in the last 50 years among the Eskimos (sorry I can’t spell Inuit), among whom these diseases are essentially non existent?

Sure there are other clearer possible explanations. Could lack of vaccines be one though?

All this is speculation on my part of course. Just speculation.

    note:

seems there has been a HUGE increase in childhood allergies (innapropriate and overly intense response to allergens). somewhat during the same time period as the rise of vaccines. Gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, other.

Could be many possible explanations other than the bombardment of the immune system with vaccines.

Is it reasonable to suspect vaccines as a significant factor though?

I think so. If so, what other long term effects could vaccines be causing which have not been detected so far?

the rise in cancer rates? (which in many cases has been shown to be secondary to non-proper functioning of the immune system). All the, now very common, autoimmune diseases? Alzheimer’s?

have any of the studies that “demonstrate the safety of vaccines” looked at this?

    3. as you said being older. more developed immune system.

    4. less of an intense, unrelenting assault (stimulation) on a delicate immature immune system.

the above is only theoretical, though a reasonable hypothesis. one of the myriad of issues the “anti-vaccers” are concerned about

“So how come the Anti -vaxxers think that they have the right to tell medical professionals what to do?!?

They are asking them to do, for them. Not for their other patients.

Because physicians, like any other professional, are supposed to, using their expertise, advise and work with their clients. Ultimately fulfilling the clients wishes when possible. The patients are not fodder for the physicians practice.

    adocs:

I think you’re being a little ridiculous already.

There are alternative theories far more compelling than the “theory” you are proposing.

For example the Earth Fever Theory.

Briefly, as we all know, fever is the body’s first line defense against microorganisms.

So too on a larger scale the earth (as is scientifically proven) is undergoing global warming, earth fever if you will.

Clearly an attempt by Mother Nature to rid herself of these diseases.

A further proof to this is the recent upsurge in earthquakes, very much analogous to the shivering that accompanies a fever.

    It all fits so well.

1980 was the highest death rate of all time and not typical. That was worldwide.

The 3 to 4 million refers to cases not deaths

Cdc reports deaths in the us are about .1% of cases.

That comes out to 3 thousand deaths per year in the us before the vaccine.

Plenty of other sites report 300-400 deaths per year in the us before the vaccine.

In the us measles has never been a major cause of mortality. Still you are correct. Worldwide death rates are much higher than I was aware.

But Sam, maybe I have a bit of paranoia, but the disproportionate amount of your posts directed to me all over the CR is beginning to make me think you are looking for some kind of retribution for my previous criticism of you. I’m just imagining that, right?
