Gateshead is Lakewood with a Geordy accent. Also without the lake…or the wood.???
Gateshead makes Lakewood look like Ben Yrjuda on a Thursday night!

I learnt in Goerdiland for a number of years (now i am learning in Israel), and i definatly see the need for all the takonas. We are basically talking about a small ghetto where the 2 furthest points in the kehilla are about 15 minutes apart. EVERY reasonable thinking guy realises the neeed for the Takonas. Furthermore, sorry to disapoint all you guys but Moreinu Horav Binyomin Hershkewitz shlita never was and never will be the rav of G/hd. He is and probably will always retain the position of Rosh Yeshiva of Dansky’s.
Additionally it is impossible to take 2 plane journeys from anywhere in England and end up in Gateshead. The country simply isn’t large enough to take off and land twice (their is not planes from Manchester to Gateshead for that reason, 120 miles is to short for a plane journey). If she was coming from abroad why did she notget a meal on the plane or take food with her. It must be that she didn’t trust the kashrus of the planes food. It seems to me that SHE was imposing her CHUMRA over the halochas of tsniut.
Additionall, one can always go to Tesco’s or some other other non jewish store to purchase kosher nosh.
EnglishvegMemberAlways blown over whenever i walk into their house. Awesome
EnglishvegMemberAuchentoshan now holds a hechsher under london beth din. Dayan Weiss, the Minchas yitzchock was famous for saying that all scotch is kosher. Sherry he said id not a problem because it does not add flavour it just takes away a bitter flavour. Additionally, the sherry barrels used in scotch are reused many times and the flavour is not apparent therefore it is botul beroiv. Dayan Westheim of igud harabonim (KIR) in manchester concurs with him as do many gedolim who have researched scoth properly. However, if you want to be extremly machmir and are looking for a whisky that absolutely everyone will drink, even those who want an extremely strict hechsher – e.g. you are making a kiddush and do not want to have to explain to everyone the whole sugya there is only one whisky with an extremely strict hechsher and that is called hamshkeh. it is certified by Keddaisia of London. I do not know if it is currently available in the states. however, beware, it is a pretty garbage whisky.
October 26, 2011 1:17 pm at 1:17 pm in reply to: Crohn's Disease & the SCD diet – What has helped? #825270EnglishvegMemberihave a friend who has crohn’s, went on the diet and is now eating normal food. he has ben ‘clean’ for 2 years now. i personaly found that the diet is extremely drastic and it is more usefull to try conventional medicine first. humira that someone suggested is also pretty drastic with some major possible side effects including cancer. Theri s is a pretty good medicine on the market called infliximab that i would recomend that you look into. ote that with all medicines and diets for Crohn’s nothing works for everyone. Also note that unless you are going to stick to the scd diet to the nth degree it it is useless.
EnglishvegMemberIt is perfectly normal to want to eat late at night. Try having 4 lighter meals – there is no reason that this should cause you to gain any weight. alternetively, thry eating dinner later, say around 9:30
EnglishvegMemberi know of a orphaned boy (from father)who married a girl with divorced parents. The boys mother and girls father met under the chuppa, fell in love and now are married. must be confusing for the grandkids.
