Why don’t you raise this question to the Business Halacha Institute and have a Choshen Mishpat expert answer this question.

emanParticipantMy son who works in an office with a mixed frum crowd was asked why he always wears a white shirt and black pants. His answer – That is 2 less decisions I have to make a day.
December 26, 2018 4:17 pm at 4:17 pm in reply to: OPEN LETTER To My Fellow NY Hatzolah Members About Billing Insurance #1652463emanParticipantI needed a Hatzolah transport 15 months ago(BH I am now OK). I was more than happy to have the insurance send them a check.
November 4, 2018 3:32 pm at 3:32 pm in reply to: Calling 311 on someone blocking your driveway is mesira #1616533emanParticipantThis is not about calling 311 but about blocking others with your car. A over 30 of years ago I got called out of davening because Hatzoloh was at my hous treating a child who was injured. I couldn’t leave till the person blocking my car came and moved his car. The child had to wait at the hospital because the person who accompanied the child was his 16 old brother who was not authorized to give consent.
2 weeks prior to this child’s bar mitzvah, the same person blocked my car, so I told him that he has a chance in 2 weeks to ask mechilah from the child. He laughed at me. Life goes on and not 1 of his daughters found a shidduch. This man left this world in his 80’s without a grandchild.emanParticipantThe situation s such that the mothers who are BH busy with a growing family don’t have ability to take their daughters to shul. I have suggested to my wife and daughter-in-law that the granddaughters come to us occasionally for shabbos and go to shul.
emanParticipantNot every wife of a Chover in Breuers kehiloh had their hair covered. Will not name names.
emanParticipantAt son #1’s wedding, the photographer was told to only take family pictures before the chaunah. After the Yichud room, I walk in the where the pictures are taken and see the kallahs family taking the same pictures they took 3 hours earlier with the chosson present. When the photographer gave me the prints, I told him that my other3 sons will be using a different photographer. They did and the photographer knew what to do.
emanParticipantCTLAWYER: Maybe this would interest you. People should start measuring the noise level at chasuna’s(that could be done via an app). as a few hundred people are there, a class action lawsuit can be filed against the musicians.
emanParticipantAt one of my daughters weddings, I approached the musician and asked him to lower the volume. He did, but 2 minutes later, he raised it. I then told him that if he doesn’t lower it, I will pull the plugs out. He tells me that it will then take him 10 minutes to restart playing. I say that’s your problem not mine. He lowers it, only to raise it again 2 minutes later. I now come back and just walk to the electrical outlet. Like a 5 year old, he says, I’ll listen and realizing I meant business, he listened.
March 8, 2017 1:08 pm at 1:08 pm in reply to: Is this a true story? (Rosh Yeshiva hit with car over conflict with butchers) #1222606emanParticipantThere was a Rav in Chicago who had to leave town on a Shabbos because he was threatened by Al Capone. He eventually moved to Eretz Yisroel and wrote a number of seforim. This is said to be Al Capone’s chelek in Torah.
emanParticipantA number of years ago (when people were just beginning to turn their frumkeit into meshugaas), a Rosh Yeshivah of a major Yeshivah gave a shiur for the women and needed a ride to the shul. He asked my wife to drive him. My wife opened the back door for him and he said, your are my friend an talmidah, not my chauffer. I am sitting in the front.
emanParticipantI got married out of NY State. The State I got married in required 2 witnesses to sign the marriage license. I had 2 of my wife’s friends sign.
emanParticipantIn the 1970’s when the Prime Minister of EY came to America, they would meet with the American Gedolim. One time when Golda Meir was there, she asked as question as follows. I understand that the Rabonim are opposed to women serving in the army, but what is their opposition to Sherut L’eumi. Rav Moshe Feinstein was about to respond to her, when Rav Yaakov Kaminetzki said “I am older, let me respond”. He then stated that an essential part of the Kedusha of a Bas Yisroel is that her father knows where she is until he brings her to the chupa. I heard this 30 years ago, and I have not been given a satisfactory answer to how sending a girl to EY fits with what Rav Yaakov said.
emanParticipantIf everyone would wear a flat cap, they could keep it in their shtender and not have to go to the hat rack before mincho or maariv.

November 25, 2015 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm in reply to: New England Patriots,. A Class Organization #1113614emanParticipantRobert Kraft is a big supporter of Medinat Yisroel. He built Kraft Field, a fooball field in Yerushalayim, where Yeshivah boys play on Fridays.
emanParticipantMy children are now dealing with this problem as I am the Zaidy. When my daughters were in elementary school, I brought this point up to a few Gedolei Hador, who felt that having a newly married man learning in a new environment, would take away from the maylah of his learning as a zechus and practical start of a marriage. This lesson should be taken in account by all newly married men. It might not be the best advise to change yeshiva’s, even if it means getting less support from the shver.
emanParticipantI use nettalk. You buy the device for about $30(you can usually get a rebate). They charge an annual fee the cheapest being 40 dollars for USA calls only. Got to nettalk.com for more info.

November 4, 2014 3:44 pm at 3:44 pm in reply to: Statistician Dr. Charlie Hall's analysis of the marital age gap data #1040739emanParticipantNASI assumes that the boys and girls are all on the same hashgopho level. That is a HUGE assumptions, as we know that women are on a much higher level than men.
emanParticipantDon’t know who will win, but the way this dispute looks, K’lal yisroel is the looser.
September 19, 2014 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm in reply to: Girl giving the "yes" first in shidduchim #1070758emanParticipantWe are considered a Yeshivish family (both my wife & I are college graduates). My 5 married children cumulatively dated 25 people. Only 1 was redd by a shadchan who doubled as my son’s Rebby. When you have acquaintances redd shiduchim, the girl has first choice if they come to you first.
This system of using acquaintances to redd shiduchim, works, as 4 out of my 5 children found their bashert that way.
emanParticipantI think the fact that we are letting the shadchanim control the situation is part of the problem.I have BH married off 5 children and only 1 son found his bashert from a shadchan(who was his rebbe, so that might not count). The rest were friends and acquaintances. Although I am “Yeshivishe”, I have raised my children to be friendly and social with our friends and shul-mates.
emanParticipantI asked a shailoh about shaving for a date during sefirah, and my Rebbe told me that if the girl has a problem with you being unshaven during sefirah, she is not the right girl for you.
emanParticipantAs far as driving 6 hours, there was at 1 time a service that provided professional video-conferencing. If that option doesn’t exist, skype would work.

August 1, 2013 2:59 pm at 2:59 pm in reply to: Does a Kallah need to give a gift to her Chosson in the yichud room? #968936emanParticipantI knew this couple that got married in the DP camp after the war. I don’t think they exchanged gifts in the yichud room.

emanParticipantIf your wearing a yarmulke, take it off. If you have a beard don’t do it.
emanParticipantThe Chasam Sofer gives the same reason that women should not light Chanuka candles unless they are mechuyiv (ie no male around)
emanParticipantSomeone suggested a shidduch for my daughter. I saw the boy talking during kryas hatorah and that was the end the suggestion.
emanParticipantI guess we can say the shiduch crisis is to the frum world’s what global warming is to the rest of the world.
emanParticipantI’ve been getting robo calls from organizations. The VOIP provider I use allows calls from specific numbers to be blocked or forwarded to another number. They are not bothering me anymore.

emanParticipantif the hanhalla of your child’s yeshivah is influenced by the parents, it’s time to find another school.
December 4, 2012 12:51 am at 12:51 am in reply to: "…To date there have been 72 Shidduchim…" -NASI ad #910284emanParticipantAZ – If you claim you paid all the monies owed from the original program, then either you are a shakran or some very choshuve people are shakranim. I’ll place my bet on you.
December 3, 2012 3:26 pm at 3:26 pm in reply to: "…To date there have been 72 Shidduchim…" -NASI ad #910280emanParticipantDaasYochid I am not confusing the programs with each other, I’m rebutting their claim of the number by implying that the other programs might be counted towards their numbers. Most spin jobs do that and NASI strikes me as a big spin job with AZ as their spinmaster.
December 3, 2012 2:12 am at 2:12 am in reply to: "…To date there have been 72 Shidduchim…" -NASI ad #910278emanParticipantWhen NASI started in 2008, they promised, I believe $1000 for shadchanim, when the kallah_age-chossson_age was greater than -1.
For those in Rio Linda that means the kallah is older than the chosson or less than a year younger. They stopped this according to their statement that people were using the NASI money as payment to the shadchanim. What most people don’t know, is that that they didn’t pay alot of shadchanim that made qualifying shiduchim either. Knowing that NASI is run my spin moguls, it wouldn’t surprise me if the number 72 counts the shiduchim they paid for and the ones they didn’t.
emanParticipantfarroks- we can learn from the Chasidim. A Chadishe girl does not reject a male. A Yeshivishe or modern will.
emanParticipantLet’s look further into Shiduch Island. The 100 boys graduate High School and 10 go to work or college and 90 go to Yeshivah.
The 100 girls graduate High School and 10 go to work or college and 90 go to Seminary.
3 years later, of the 90 boys 30 want to learn in Kollel, 30 want to be learner earner(intending to be a Ben torah) and 30 will be frum, but not really be “into learning”.
3 years later of these 90 girls,80 want to marry a ben torah, but only 60 boys qualify for that criteria. 10 might marry a boy like that hoping she can change him but that leaves some more girls out(actually a higher percentage than the age problem). Also a large percentage of these girls want to marry the Kollel boys or the higher echelon learner-earner (emphasis on the learner part).
That my friends is the essence of the Shiduch Crisis.
October 31, 2012 2:23 pm at 2:23 pm in reply to: A Wife’s Obligation Towards Her Husband & Kids #902283emanParticipantMy son visited Rav Ahron Feldman Shelita, author the famous book on Shalom Bayis “The river the kettle and the bird”. He said “the more one gives, the more one receives, so just keep on giving to your wife and you she will reciprocate”.
emanParticipantoldman- His name is Hamburger.
I heard his lecture on the topic and his conclusion is probably correct.
