Thank you!
eclipseMemberI guess as a young girl, I missed it! And after that I learned a bunch of Canadian history:)
eclipseMemberRav Avigdor Miller(ztz”l) says don’t share things that will make it difficult to respect you for as much after hearing. It doesn’t mean you lie when confronted!! It means don’t make yourself look pathetic for no good reason.
eclipseMemberThe best husband in the world can’t make a depressed soul happy. There’s got to be something to work with, and that goes both ways.
eclipseMemberFor those who appreciated Machnisei Dimah’s yiddish lyrics, I wrote a song in English (2001?) based on that song. I finally figured out how to copy and paste,so I will try….
C. Banet Tape
Yiddishe Kinder, do you know
That in shomayim, tears flow
For yiddishe tears still overflow
And when, this glass is full, Moshiach will come.
Six million screamed Shema Yisroel Hashem Elokeinu Hashem Echod
Tears were shed for rivers of Yiddish blood
How many tears soak every cheek?
Our precious Tehillim will one day speak
Oy, oy, oy, when / will / the geula be here at last?
Oy Ribono Shel Olam, how deep is the glass?
So many hearts are broken, so many tefillos spoken
Young yesomim voices piercing the crowd
The tzibbur listens with sadness as / they say Kaddish out loud
Tosim dimoseinu benodcha
Ana, rachem al amcho
How can it be the glass is not yet full?
[musical interlude here]
Yiddishe Kinder, do you know
That in shomayim, tears flow
For yiddishe tears still overflow
And when / this glass is full Moshiach will come.
Tears of another kind
Could fill the glass, each drop we find
We plead with you Hashem, please gather them in
Tears of a simcha
Of mitzvos done with kavannah
With these tears, too, perhaps the glass will brim.
Oy, oy, Ribono Shel Olam, please / look down and see
The tears a mother and father shed freely
Leading a choson and kallah under the chuppah
So many tears of friends and family
Oy, oy, Ribono Shel Olam, please / look down with pride
See yiddishe mothers bentching the licht each Friday night
Whispering, Yehi Rotzon Lifnei Hashem Elokai
The precious tears of every Aim Habonim
(music)
eclipseMemberI miss my Toronto!
eclipseMemberWow, I was SURE it’s been 3 years, guess it was only 2?
eclipseMemberRonald Reagan…no scandals, just leadership. And a wife who dressed with aristocracy. And yes, I’m that old:)
eclipseMemberCan we have an advertisement thread? I write scripts.
eclipseMemberI am happy…it’s an inner peace of mind. Can a kind and caring husband enhance that? Yes. A happy person can be made happier. But a totally happy woman can also be DESTROYED by a cruel or chronically ungrateful spouse. Men who make jokes about “freedom” and “being finished” take ALL that a good woman does for them for granted.
eclipseMemberMy thanks ended up in a funny spot:)
Thanks for all the “hello” posts!
eclipseMemberSince many people might assume there is a problem with it, it’s probably best not to – for mar’as ayin sake. Also, if people see you, and they look up to you in any way, they might assume it’s kosher in other locations where it isn’t kosher —and eat it because they “saw” you eating it.You don’t want to be the cause of that,c”v.
eclipseMemberI still remember “the 8 cow wife” story someone posted here around 3 or 4 years ago. It bears repeating!
eclipseMemberI remember when we were kids, my mother had no problem letting us go out for pizza–once in awhile. But she did not often accompany us, and when she did, she was uncomfortable. She said,”If someone who has helped us with money sees us, they might think we are wasting the money.” The truth is, “needs” are subjective and relative, and after you help someone, you should not really be critical of how they spend. If you are correct in your assumption, pay their bills directly. I personally have had to accept money from others in the past, and I will never forget the moment when I bumped into the ba’al tzedakah in the “cut fruit” section!! A luxury, for sure, but it helped me stay on my diet. Immediately, this intuitive tzadik said to me, “These things make our lives much simpler,”(or similar to that) and disappeared!! That is the kind of person whom we should emulate in cases like this.
Eclipse welcome back!! You were sorely missed!
eclipseMemberThanks!!
Missed this place!
eclipseMemberDay One: White List the YWN Coffee Room on my filter, after loooong break.
Day One: (5 minutes later) Comment on Aveira Song.
There is a lot of talent amongst these fellows. However, certain phrases will stay in people’s heads that will not increase their love and respect for mitzvos…in fact, one word of (sarcastic) laytzonus can push away a whole lot of (positive) mussar.
It made me sad to watch that video. Sad, because it became popular so fast. You guys are usually funny…but when all eyes are upon you, there must be “damage control”.
eclipseMemberSir,I find your screen name rather odd, given the forum you’re on.
eclipseMemberI guess your family is less (or more?) religious than you are?
eclipseMemberIs there an echo in here?(came thru 2x)
mbachur…sorry,I missed that.
Well, now you have it folks…more of my life story!!
eclipseMemberGuess Hashem wins.
That’s it for this thread!
I know when I’m beat:)
eclipseMemberI tried…thanks anyway.I’m going to sleep EARLY tonight as you can see!
eclipseMemberVery good!:)
eclipseMemberMbachur…not quite.
I wanted someone learning forever and I meant it.
I taught for many years.
So do hundreds of women.
I think feminism is women killing chivalry.
But then,it was probably borne by the lack of it.
Never heard a woman in the world COMPLAIN she was being treated too well.
I’m still not a feminist.
But I encouraged “him” to learn for many years.
A few years ago,he became a maggid shiur…his choice.
Women who take on the Adam-Chava thing AND DON’T ASK ANYONE’S PARENTS FOR SUPPORT are to be commended, not offended, sir.
“I thank you for listening”!
eclipseMemberAnd Kollel.Did you forget about that?:)
eclipseMember20 plus pounds to lose before Shavuos.
eclipseMemberI think Shrek is funny.
eclipseMemberemlf…it was a joke!
They also claim it’s 30 million years old and 100 million years old…it just depends on which encyclopedia you pick up.
eclipseMemberOk,it’s probably not basherte.
Good night,everyone.
eclipseMemberI waste half my life trying to figure out computer stuff my older kids know automatically. How do I get a compressed file into a “post”? Or any article? I can’t copy and paste it here for the life of me.
A lot of “life” expressions,I know.[What do you want from my life?:)]
eclipseMemberIs YWN now OTD?:)
May 9, 2011 1:21 am at 1:21 am in reply to: House in Brooklyn was extended, how do I find out if it was done legally #765639eclipseMemberI meant, ask the kind of person who won’t “maser” on the fellow who “over-built”.
May 9, 2011 1:19 am at 1:19 am in reply to: House in Brooklyn was extended, how do I find out if it was done legally #765638eclipseMemberAsk privately.
If the guy gets in trouble, the house won’t be for sale until he “undoes” it anyway.I know 2 people that happened to.
eclipseMemberProblem is I can’t put my name.I don’t mind if someone uses it,so long as they don’t pretend they made it up.(I’ve had that)
eclipseMemberI told you TWENTY times not to do that!
I waited in that office for like 20 million hours.
You look so young…like a 20 year old,mamesh!
Scientists claim the world is 20 million years old.
eclipseMemberHere’s “Yiddishe Kinder” translated into English.(sung by males,of course) Hope you like it. No musical instruments.
Ok,how do I do this? It’s in a compressed file.
eclipseMemberAre they taking single Moms with Sect.8?:)
(they probably divide THE TENANT into 8 SECTIONS)
eclipseMembernot sure of…my very serious posts which offset my funny posts?
eclipseMemberBSD:That’s cute!:)
eclipseMembermbachur…don’t worry 75% of women took over “b’zayas apecha”,so…
eclipseMemberEwwwwwww!
eclipseMemberLaugh with them, not at them…:)
eclipseMemberDoo Bist Gehrecht.
Moderators please “varf avek” this thread.
eclipseMembertzippi and mytake:
Her book about this was called “Appreciating People”.
The book based on the Enneagram was called “Awareness”.
I found the 2nd book way easier to follow, and it really helps you understand yourself and others—in a positive way.
eclipseMemberIf previous owner returns, you must evacuate immediately.(He might,y’know!)
eclipseMemberThere is an excellent book called “Mourning In Halacha”(I think that’s the right title). It covers pretty much everything.
eclipseMemberWelcome back,Health.
eclipseMemberAnyway…we nixed both for different reasons.
I will try to find her someone the old-fashioned way.
eclipseMemberI love trying new things, meeting new people, adapting new ideas….that’s what makes life interesting.
Stagnation? What a waste!
eclipseMemberThis is THE BEST TIME of your life.
The world is open to you!
Daven to Hashem to help you make good choices.
ENJOY!!
