    Good Question!

In real life,as in cyberspace, some people like me,some people don’t.

    Hopefully,more do than don’t.

To clarify my last post:I have one friend with a B12 deficiency, another with a removed thyroid, another on fertility medicine, another on anxiety medicine…they are all walking around bloated and uncomfortable…and may look like they have a self-control issue…but they don’t.

And yes, they are all NORMAL people.

BYgirl you’re right,a person is not punished for being an “oiness” (forced/has no ability to control, etc,)but for getting himself to that point in the first place.

Popa,It’s not just the smell– or fishermen and plumbers would be on this list, and they aren’t.

It’s asthma/allergies,repulsion,and serious health concerns for the smoker himself, not to mention those nearest him.

Yes,weight that is way out of control IS IN THIS CATEGORY.

But since we rarely know all the reasons someone might have gained weight(there are other causes besides piggish eating habits)Please don’t lump ’em all together.Thanks,sir.

There is an excellent video MADE FOR YESHIVA BOCHURIM by Rabbi Shaul Cohn of Boston,Mass.about the dangers of smoking.

I personally purchased a few of them: One to show my own bochurim, and the other 2 I sent to my sons’ yeshivos.

Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky (shlita) personally introduces the presentation, followed by the fellow who

shows (with video clips and other visual info.)JUST HOW BAD SMOKING IS….and how many addictions start from “just trying one cigarette”.I highly recommend it.

popa…I just want to point out to you that not all overweight people are pigs.I was slim most of my life and might have wondered about the person’s eating habits myself—UNTIL the last few years when I am trying to lose some weight myself.

1.I could have skipped breakfast lunch and supper—but to a passerby,I LOOK like I don’t skip anything! Why? Because my valiant dieting efforts are not drastically noticeable just yet.

2.I recently walked several miles,to and from a doctor’s appt. And I thought to myself:You’d never know I just walked a marathon!I look exactly the same as I did yesterday!

See “Otzar Hanachas” – Prayers For Mothers and Fathers.

    It’s a little, hardcover dark-green book,sold in Judaica stores.

Prayer On The Occasion Of Son’s Bar Mitzvah…..pg.87

I only looked it up because of your question–I didn’t even realize it was there until now!

“disrepair”…because it’s hard to know if anyone even reads the posts here.

    Parshas Bo:

“ki ein bayis asher ein shom meis”

Rashi says,if there was a bechor,he died, and if not,the oldest member of the household died.

Others say,the mitzri women were immoral so there were multiple bechorim/os? in every single household. Each of their children was SOMEONE’s bechor.

I know this sounds like laytzonus, but think about it:

The more things change the more they stay the same.
