Ohel just put out an ad re: this matter.

You’d think they’d know better.

It could have said:Divorce is not for everyone,NOT made it sound like it’s for no one.

The question the OP asks is similar to asking,”Why do so many people…get fat?/have “special children”?/have teens-at-risk?/lose their jobs? etc.etc.

THE ANSWER IS:THERE ARE MANY,MANY REASONS.

Actually,many years ago when I was visiting Toronto,I was literally in the middle of telling someone how much more courteous Toronto was than New York…when a (Torontonian) goy from a tall apartment building dropped a hard bagel on my head.

And people think G-d doesn’t have a sense of humor!

Today I was in a store…I asked HOW fresh a certain item was…he said no guarantees.He said there are more important things in life to worry about…(than being straight with a customer?)

Interacting with people(outside of the CR!) regularly has taught me that…and others expressing shock at what I’ve been thru (which I take as a compliment;we don’t wanna WEAR our problems)just shows me again and again,that we may think it’s better elsewhere,but EVERYone is dealing with SOMEthing.

Popa is right.A kid from a home where the parents SHOULD have gotten divorced is not better off,psychologically.

As far as settling,it does not have to be a “settling” that affects your marriage any more than where the guy went to school.

Meaning,everything affects a marriage,but not everything RUINS it.

My parents had to get divorced.

Not one of us married into “broken homes”.

Hashem managed!
