From experience, most don’t.
dunnoMemberIt definitely depends what circles you associate yourself with. In yeshivish circles, guys and girls about the same age generally don’t talk to each other without the purpose of marriage in mind. (I’m not saying I agree; that’s just the way things are)
dunnoMemberHealth
I disagree. If, for example, the carpet was old and the paint was peeling, it’s gross no matter how neat you keep the room. I was never inside the Irv so I can’t say if that’s the case there but when someone tells me it’s gross, this is the kind of thing I think of. I was never in any yeshiva dorm so I can’t compare (although I was in a dira).
dunnoMemberIf u think it can be a shidduch then go for it but like coffee addict said, it could get awkward.
dunnoMemberThe Irv is a nice hotel too!
I heard that it’s gross inside but it would definitely be a smart place to go!
dunnoMemberHow is it pikuach nefesh?
dunnoMemberOne year I studied for finals but the rest I slept.
dunnoMemberpopa
I wouldn’t know
dunnoMemberWhat happened to good old pink for girls? My room is pink and white. I love it!
dunnoMemberI wish
dunnoMemberThe Capitol is a nice hotel.
popa’s sarcasm at its finest…
dunnoMemberDepends on MANY factors…
dunnoMembercoffee addict
I actually did with a guy. I tried figuring out his screen name but couldn’t.
dunnoMemberTry talking about crazy dating stories that you’ve heard; that always gets a good laugh!!!!
Or you get “Oh, you also read YWN Coffee Room”?!
dunnoMemberI think when guys discuss dates they say names while girls leave the names out.
dunnoMembercshapiro
Get a netbook
dunnoMemberzaidy78
Fine. They are raising the standard. But just because those who can’t afford it succumb to peer pressure doesn’t mean that the “rich” should give it up.
dunnoMemberzaidy 78
I agree 100% with that. The rich guy can upgrade and it’s up to the poor guy to see if he can. Which is my point – let him decide and do what he wants. Why is it my business to tell him what he can afford?
commonsense
I don’t agree with people living luxurious lifestyles when living off of others. However, after 120, it is them who will have to give din v’cheshbon. I think they know it’s wrong and it’s not my place to limit his spending.
I get the sense that it’s usually the people who can’t afford something but wish they could that tend to bash those who can afford it…
dunnoMemberBe careful about the stories you tell…
Very important piece of advice
dunnoMemberRedNails19
I agree. Some of the stories guys have said were really funny but at the same time really inappropriate for a date.
dunnoMemberzaidy78
So what you’re saying is that the “gvir” shouldn’t buy the Lexus (or whatever we’re up to) because others might upgrade to the Avalon?
dunnoMemberI don’t agree. A discussion is perfectly fine. What I don’t understand is why the people that buy these things have to be put down as a result.
dunnoMemberI’m with coffee addict. Not to bust your ego, but I wouldn’t find that too funny…
dunnoMemberMod 80
You have a point but half these threads revolve around people getting involved in other’s lives. You don’t want to buy this for your kid? Don’t! Same with cars, vacations, homes, etc
dunnoMemberThe question is why you people care so much…
dunnoMemberDoes anyone know where I can get a replacement remote for a Frigidaire A/C?
dunnoMemberI don’t see how this can work. To me it seems like a way for people to make a quick buck.
dunnoMembershlishi
I know yeshivish people that got pretty close after a few dates and had a hard time going through a break up
dunnoMember2qwerty
What?? Where did she get that from??
dunnoMemberyid.period
As long as you say it happened to a friend of yours. Don’t discuss previous dates with your date…
dunnoMemberbpt
I’ve mentioned the CR on dates. One guy said he posted something once but wouldn’t tell me his screen name! I’m so curious who he is!
Mod 80
LOL
dunnoMemberCome on zaidy, join the fun!
dunnoMemberyeshivabochur123
Did that really happen?? Hilarious!
dunnoMemberTake a deep breath and START! Don’t think about how much you have to do.
dunnoMemberadorable
Right. That’s why I don’t have a problem if the good drivers speed.
dunnoMembercshapiro
This was me a 2 months ago!! I read up on it online and saw that Vaseline helps them grow in faster. I didn’t go for a wax for a month (tweezed in between) and eventually they grew. Still not back to before but we’re getting there!
dunnoMemberSacrilege
Lol I hear ya
dunnoMemberSac
🙂
dunnoMemberAs if her hand would stop him from flying out of a window…
dunnoMemberI know someone who had a nose job. Before she had it done she asked a Rov who told her not only is it allowed, it’s a must if it will help in shidduchim. Granted, she had a pretty bad nose before…
dunnoMemberSac
It is a “big whoop.” It’s a pretty embarrassing thing. The opposite happened to my friend. He short-stopped and instinctively put his hand out to stop her from flying.
The worst I had was guy’s coats/jackets flying into me or coming dangerously close on the armrest in the car. Actually, I banged into one’s foot once too…
dunnoMemberWolf
I was gonna ask that as well but didn’t think it would get through.
dunnoMemberThe issue isn’t tznius at all. It is just chikus hagoy.
Black hats and streimels originated from the goyim too.
dunnoMemberPac-Man and everyone else who says jeans are lower class
Do you also have a problem with men wearing polo shirts when they are playing basketball? Or girls wearing t-shirts? Those are definitely less classy than a white shirt…
dunnoMemberSorry, I don’t see anything so terrible with what she asked. She seems friendly to me.
dunnoMemberI like lkwdfellow’s suggestion best. Good luck!

dunnoMemberveteran
What does he say?
