Whoa some people are judgmental. If you think Facebook is a horrible tool and can’t control yourself on it, by all means, don’t use it. There are people in this world who can log on without doing anything they shouldn’t. Don’t go ahead and tell them it’s their yetzer hara talking…maybe this was the case for you when you had an account. If you deleted your account because you truly felt it was wrong, good for you! But as for people who use it as a networking tool, in my humble opinion it’s no different than any other tool (such as phones, skype, etc as mikehall mentioned). I don’t either think the comparison is extreme.

That’s awesome! How long do you plan on it taking?

My Rav paskened that I can go when such a situation arose and let me tell you…it was very awkward. I had kosher food in the double wrappings with everyone watching me opening it…I don’t know how businessmen do it all the time. I guess you get used to it…
dunnoMemberI have the same problem besides that I’m also indecisive about big decisions. I’m definitely not the most self-confident person around so it probably stems from that…
dunnoMemberI’m voting for Baguette Bar. Sounds more upper class to me
dunnoMemberTotally disagree
dunnoMemberI was told fraps aren’t allowed but ask your LOR
dunnoMemberbombmaniac
Calm down! You don’t find BT to be an issue so go out with that kind. People who have a problem with it won’t. Ze hu!
I do agree with you though that the system is messed up.
dunnoMemberI find the one on 59th Street & Lexington Avenue better than the one in Soho
I agree
dunnoMemberTrue. My mother pointed it out to me for that reason
dunnoMemberadorable
I also read that but I think OK is fine with it. (Not positive it’s OK but there is another kashrus agency that I hold of that allows it)
dunnoMemberMy brother knows my screen name and occasionally reads the Coffee Room but I’m the only one in my family that posts.
dunnoMemberThey’re assuring hoods now? Not bad

Me too!!
dunnoMemberThis is Yeshiva World not Jdate.
Think of all the shadchanus you would get!
dunnoMemberThere’s no way all that oil can be good for you

Thanks for your post. You’re right.

June 28, 2011 8:19 pm at 8:19 pm in reply to: Parents Managing or Choosing Children's Shidduchim #781532dunnoMemberLol mewho.
I always say that if someone is old enough to get married, they’re old enought to deal with their own shidduchim.
dunnoMemberHealth
I’m talking about ones my age
Derech HaMelech
Nice to see you’re not like that
dunnoMemberMod 80
Funny
dunnoMemberAND married people think they know it all! Like when they ask what you’re looking for and you tell them, they jump on you that it’s not important. Never mind that they cared about the same things when they were dating… (Yeah, I know I’m generalizing. I have a lot of nice married friends too :))
dunnoMemberI’m in a venting mode today so I’ll continue. What really annoys me is that our opinions mean NOTHING! But the second one changes their status from single to engaged….BAM! Everything they say is of value!
Sorry…bad mood today…
dunnoMemberThat bothers me too adorable it also bothers me when they assume we are not as frum as our married contemporaries
Never mind not as frum. More like subpar, as if there’s something very wrong with us.
dunnoMemberMen… 🙂

dunnoMemberSo don’t join it klach
dunnoMemberAnother vote for Mendelsohns!
June 22, 2011 4:45 pm at 4:45 pm in reply to: What is there for a family to do at Lake George, NY? #779908dunnoMemberI went motor boating with my family. It was a lot of fun. We also got a tube to attach to the boat.
dunnoMemberThere’s a new place in Passaic…something with a “V”
dunnoMember“You don’t want to threaten me, my boyfriend is a marine.”
Perfect response in a Bais Yaakov 🙂

How are they making the school look bad? This thread seems pretty innocuous to me…
dunnoMemberJust for the record, I wasn’t talking to myself. It seems that cleverjewishpun’s post was removed.

It’s one thing to be honest and truthful but it’s another to say outright lies for no good reason. Actually one teacher wanted the boy in question for her own daughter and purposely said what she knew the boy’s mother didn’t want to hear. There was no truth to it whatsoever. In the end that boy married the teacher’s daughter and my cousin couldn’t have been happier.

Their shirts? I don’t think so…
dunnoMemberBack to the original question, anyone have an answer??
dunnoMemberAfter a relative of mine got married she said she wants to personally thank all those who gave bad information and stopped many shidduchim because she got herself a great guy at the end of the day.
dunnoMemberThis happened in my high school as well.
June 16, 2011 3:26 pm at 3:26 pm in reply to: Yet another tznius issue (but probably not a crisis) #778254dunnoMemberThere are so many comments floating through my head but I think it’s best I keep quiet on this one…
dunnoMemberOne of my best dates was going to a place the guy had in mind but for whatever reason we were only able to stay for about 45 minutes. We decided to drive around and pop into a random hotel to check it out. It ended up being lots of fun because not everything was so rigid and planned.

I’m sticking with a treadmill. I know that works for me and don’t want to try something new

Is pro-form a good company?
dunnoMemberPac Man
I’m not sure about other areas but I heard that it’s not a problem in NYC because kosher meals can be brought into non-kosher restaurants (from Abigail’s, etc) and it’s a fairly common practice so maras ayin doesn’t apply.
dunnoMemberyossi z
You win the award for most posts on this thread…keep ’em coming!
dunnoMemberI don’t understand why so many men are spending time looking at women getting in and out of cars…I have no idea if this is an issue since I don’t look. In order to look that means you are staring where you shouldn’t. Instead of suggesting this is a tznius issue, I think those with a problem with it need to look internally…
Thank you, mikehall12382. While tznius may have to be worked on, it’s time for men to start being more careful with shmiras ainayim as well.
June 13, 2011 1:20 am at 1:20 am in reply to: Guys who reject most of hundred girls they date- are they "ON the Derech"? #776965dunnoMemberI agree that everyone should have an older and wiser person to discuss their dates with but please don’t get disgusted by them! If they don’t feel it then they don’t feel it. Ze hu! Why should they go out again to spare the girl’s feelings when they’ll end it on a next date and hurt the girl even more as she will be more emotionally invested? I believe it’s extremely frustrating as a shadchan to keep having to give over a no and I really commend you for putting in the effort to help the singles among klal yisroel but please don’t think you know with certainty that a guy should continue dating someone. He just may have his reasons.
dunnoMemberGumBall
Sorry, where/what is that?
dunnoMemberMDG
Thanks for the info but for now I want to stick with a treadmill
rivky
The price is $1,299…I was thinking more in terms of $500.
I might even be willing to get a used one…
dunnoMemberOk. Any idea where to go besides Modell’s?
dunnoMemberSorry. As I said, I was never inside and just going based on what I heard.
