Duct TapeMemberSo your question was….
“it ain’t broke, it just lacks duct tape”
Duct TapeMember1) click: Office button > Word Options > Customize
2) Next to Keyboard Shortcuts, Click “Customize”
3) Find the command you want by first selecting a category
4) If there is already a shortcut, it will be displayed, otherwise select “New Shortcut Key” and create the shortcut (if the key combination is already used, you will be warned)
5) You can chose if you want this shortcut to be saved permanently, or only for the document you are currently editing, then hit: Assign > Close

Duct TapeMemberPinging is a method of testing if an IP address is able to send and receive data. So If you pinged a computer, you would be sending a command from another computer attached on the network, and seeing if it responds. This can tell you:
1) If the computer is on (and working)
2) The network connection on this computer is active

With PDA Net, you can tether most smart phones, and use some as a bluetooth modem. Wifi works both ways, so most phones with a built in WiFi can be rooted and used as a WiFi hotspot (or you can pay the $20 monthly fee without rooting your phone) is your battery life as good while you are using it as a hotspot?

Duct TapeMemberI don’t post too often, but I think I will start signing off:

Duct TapeMemberYou can turn it into a shared drive by attaching it to any computer that is hooked up to a network. I’d recommend a desktop over laptop because they stay attached to the network. Just remember, the computer that the hard drive is connected to will have to be on in order for any other computers to access the drive. I prefer cloud storage….not limited to just one network.
February 1, 2011 6:35 pm at 6:35 pm in reply to: Amazing story with a well known Rosh Yeshiva! #824209Duct TapeMemberFYI Most states make lotto winners names public (One of the ways we can verify that money is actually going someplace) So aside for some loopholes, One could figure out who won a $40,000 prize by checking records.
Duct TapeMemberYou should also make sure that the “Instant Preview” feature is turned off. This feature will show a screen shot of what is on the web page, without ever clicking on a link.
Duct TapeMemberAnd with a proxy you can bypass most filters. The internet is a dangerous place. For every filter or block that comes out, eventually a workaround will follow. Its better to understand the dangers out there and learn how to avoid them. If an individual wants to get around a filter badly enough nothing will stop him. A filter is good for passively blocking content from appearing.
As for Google, set your “Safe Search Settings” to “Use Strict Filtering” that should help exclude certain material from appearing in your results.
Duct TapeMemberSo powers that be…DIY section?
Duct TapeMemberI have insurance…
Duct TapeMemberI use AndDaaven on my Droid X
Its great to know I have a siddur and brachos in my pocket at all times. The only time this is an issue is on shabbos. I always say that Jews will keep the printers in business….
Duct TapeMemberThanks real-brisker
Duct TapeMemberHow about a DIY section?
A category where individuals can post ideas on interesting “how to” projects
This category would also be useful for people looking for advice for easy repair’s
Duct TapeMemberWow! I was not expecting a hostile response. I have absolutely no affiliation to Living Social, and I get no benefit whatsoever if people use this deal and save money. I only posted this in case there are individuals in the coffee room who shop on amazon.com or endless frequently and would like to save some money.
I posted the link to make it easier to find if there was an affiliate link it would end off with something like “&%3Brui=22190527” Which it clearly doesn’t. Great to know that users of the coffee room are not interested in a great deal, and would rather start a bit of controversy. Nevertheless any silent users who have benefited from this, good for you.
Mods, to make everybody happy if there is a problem you can remove the “/social_share?ref=addthis-share5” from the end of my link, I’m sure it will make bezalel very happy.
Duct TapeMemberI actually copied from my Facebook post. Look at that link there is no referral code attached. Sites like Living Social don’t give out links to their affiliates, they send out one time use link in an email or use a callback url to record where someone clicked a link from (ex: facebook or twitter) this is done to prevent spamming, which it seems like you think I was doing. Feel free to get to the deal any way you want. The link is only there to help you, I for one am not going to even purchase this deal. Just thought some people may be interested.
Duct TapeMemberClick: “I’m already a subscriber, skip”, This particular deal is in Washington DC, but you should be able to purchase it no matter your location.
Remember, although you have to buy the card today. That doesn’t mean you have to use it today. You can save it for the next time you need to make an amazon (or endless.com) purchase, or you can give it away.
Duct TapeMemberI just took my Verizon Droid X to Israel for 2 weeks, I payed $30 extra for “Global Email” this gave me unlimited data. In addition, I used “PDA-Net” to USB tether for internet access on my laptop.
January 19, 2011 2:24 am at 2:24 am in reply to: Free ideas, best deals, and other tips on the Internet #729599Duct TapeMember1saleaday.com & bensoutlet.com for great discounts
retailmenot.com is a great coupon search engine
Duct TapeMemberJust FYI Sprint is adding a $10 monthly fee to all newly activated smartphones. Currently this surcharge only applies to a handful of devices, but beginning January 30th it will apply to ALL newly activated smartphones (Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile ect)…if you plan on going with Sprint, you may want to start by the 29th
Personally I’m on Verizon, and I love it
Duct TapeMemberI monitor 1saleaday.com, they have 4 deals everyday.
For discount coupons, I use retailmenot.com, they have saved me a lot of money.
In addition, when I shop through major internet retailers, I make sure to first go through my loyalty rewards programs website first. This way, in addition to the points I get using my credit card, I get rewards points from my loyalty program. (If the retailer has its own loyalty program [staples, eBags, AE; ect], I hit the trifecta)
Duct TapeMemberDuct TapeMemberYour welcome mewho,
I’ve personally used onesaleaday.com quite a few times, and they are not a scam, sometimes it can take up to 2 weeks for a package to ship, but in the end it has always arrived. Their Customer Service is pretty good and respond fairly quickly.
Duct TapeMemberWeebly seems interesting, I’m going to look into it.
It reminds me a bit of Google Sites (which is also free), but it seems to be a bit more WYSIWYG, and user friendly than Google sites is.
Do you know the limitations?
Duct TapeMemberDid you look into online backup? If your data is important and you are worried about concerns of fire/flood in addition to computer crashes and hard drive failure this may be an option for you.
Pricing often starts at under $5 a month for unlimited storage per computer, and you can find discount codes and specials online to give you a month or two free.
The downsides to this method are:
1) Cost – what you would end up paying for 2 months of online backup for a single computer, could buy you an external hard drive that you can use for more than just a single unit.
2) Time – In case disaster strikes and you lose all of your data, the speed of your internet connection could limit the transfer speed of data back on the drive. With a Hard Drive, you could just copy and paste right back on. (You should also note that the initial backup will also take a while, so its recommended you run it overnight)
Personally for important files I use my one of my web hosting plans for storage. I know that I will have access to them wherever I need, and my hosting provider backs up their servers in case they go down…so its a double layer of security for me.
Duct TapeMemberretailmenot.com and fatwallet.com have pretty good discount coupons.
sites like woot.com and onesaleaday.com have pretty good daily deals, and occasionally have a free item, or free after rebate item
Duct TapeMemberWhat type of site are you looking to build?
WordPress.com is a pretty powerful tool, they will give you a basic template to work with at a subdomain. (for example instead of beinhasedorim.com you would be beinhasedorim.wordpress.com) WordPress has a lot of add ons as well as basic themes. It is against wordpress’ terms of use for there to be ads on the free version at all.
Prices for upgrades:
Domain: $7.50 a year (beinhasedorim.com) + $12 a year to point it to the wordpress page
To upgrade themes, turn it into a store, or a real enhanced website you would have to host it yourself, this requires paying about $1.99 a month to a provider, and and from there the possibilities are endless…
