Is the Simchas Torah drinking taking place before/during dancing? Because Kiddush is only made AFTER dancing. So how does the drinking help with the dancing?

That’s like saying there was at least one kashrus shaila in the IM that was determined kosher and there was at least one kashrus shaila in the IM that was determined non-kosher.

Sam2: That would make zero legal difference than the reverse.

Wolf: I don’t agree that the location is inferior. And I don’t believe the law does either.

And there are other private buses that operate segregated lines as well without any legal problems.

Wolf: The seats are equal. There is no quality difference between them. Why is it legally any different than a gender segregated restroom?

There is no more discrimination than separate restrooms. I haven’t heard any demands for unisex restrooms. Both genders have a right to board the bus and sit on the bus.

OneOfMany and Wolf: Again, the law allows private bus operators to segregate their buses. So to compare it to religious child sacrifice is absurd. The only issue here is the franchise agreement. And considering the law allows segregation by private entities, a franchise by a government entity cannot abrogate a parties religious freedom that is protected by law — and segregation is so protected by law. (See, for example, Monsey Bus.) Additionally, the bus company is not getting paid by the government to run this bus. The franchise is simply an allowance to operate the bus route on the public roads.

OneOfMany: A franchise issued by government agency/public entity cannot provision terms that violate the First Amendment (or any part of the Constitution for that matter — which takes precedence over Federal, State and local laws and regulations), whereas a private entity can in many instances.

And legally you need not demonstrate that something is an “established tenet of Judaism”. You need only demonstrate you in good faith believe your religion asks that of you. And a private bus company is legally entitled to have separate seating.

Other than her looks, what attracted you to her? Referring to things that a shidduch should be based on: Baalas Chesed, Yirei Shamayim, Bas Talmid Chochom, etc.

Or was it just the looks?

Wolf: I believe you to be mistaken. Your comparison to Dunkin Donuts is invalid, as DD is a private entity while the City or State or MTA are public entities. A private entity does not (necessarily) have to respect your First Amendment Constitutional Rights. Yet a public entity cannot deny — even contractually — your First Amendment constitutional rights.

However,it’s gotten to the point where my machutten won’t eat anything cooked in my wife’s pots because we ea gebrocht

That’s totally legitimate. If ones minhag is to not eat gebrochts, he is correct in not eating gebrochts by hus machutten either. He cannot throw out minhagim.

I never met or even heard of anyone that held of of gebrochts and thought that gebrochts was halacha rather than a chumra. That is simply not true.

But Bizui Talmid Chochom does not apply to everyone. So it is clearly far worse to do it to a Rov/Talmid Chochom.

popa: The kosher consumer has a hard time knowing who is “in” and who is “out” of the club. (Other than, perhaps, the prominent cases you mentioned.)

When calling the cRc what do you ask them in order to find out who is “in”?

Which posek provides this “heter” to enter the sanctuary of a christian church for the service with cross donning priests invoking cheese ‘n crackers and reciting the christian religious lithurgy?

All the aforementioned (and more) poskim strictly forbid it. None provide any such alleged “heter”.

Still no posek that disagrees with the Rambam, Ritba, Rosh, Rashba, Rav Moshe, Tzitz Eliezer, Rav Ovadia Yosef, and every other posek who comments on going into the sanctuary for a christian church service?

    Didn’t think so.

You can’t go into a church because of avoda zora. The gemora says you shouldn’t even go into a *city* where avoda zora is practiced, but we can’t follow that since it is virtually impossible. But as far as a church, ALL the poskim say forbidden. (Mishna, Gemorah, Rambam, Ritba, Rosh, Rashba, Rav Moshe, Tzitz Eliezer, Rav Ovadia Yosef, et al).

I’m still waiting for one who says otherwise.

    Anyone? There isn’t any.

Why would attending an Avoda Zora service be any different than bowing down to an Avoda Zora “Mishum Eivah”? The poskim all say forbidden to enter a church. You will not find even one, otherwise, to allow attendance of a Christian church service.

old man: For goyim the Meiri writes that. (And even in that case many seforim write that that was written in the Meiri for the Christian censors.)

But that is irrelevant for this case, as for Yidden everyone including the Meiri agrees Christianity is Avoda Zora.

And in any event, all the poskim agree it is strictly forbidden to attend a Christian church service. (It is even forbidden to go into a church sanctuary when there is no service being held.)

Conservative and Reform are the same kefira. It’s prohibited to go into one of their houses of prayers, which is no better than a church.

The Chazon Ish’s point isn’t that hard to understand. The Chazon Ish saw that the Mizrachim had no respect for the Chofetz Chaim and other Gedolim. The pictures were just secondary and used to illustrate that fact, by the Chazon Ish.
